2 The Meet & Greet programme Everything but work The programme Meet & Greet offers a series of cultural and social events for young scientists (doctoral and postdoctoral researchers) at Saarland University and adjacent research institutes. Its purpose is to foster connections between young researchers across all disciplines and countries. Format Each event features a cultural highlight and an informal Get-together, which provides the opportunity to meet new people in a friendly environment. Feel free to join and to bring along your friends and interested guests! Entrance fees For entrance fees, food or transport, there will be a financial support for registered PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. If you d like to take part in the events, please register not later than ten days before the event via . Events in the winter term 2017/18 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx A jazz concert, a musical evening, information session given by experienced employees of the International Office and of GradUS, Get-together with pizza and pasta, day-trip to Strasbourg and visit of the Christmas market, day-trip to St. Wendel with a night watchman, and a ballet performance are scheduled all in English! 3 Events in the winter term 2017/18 Jazz Concert by Espen Eriksen Trio Friday, 10th November pm Get-together in Baker Street 8 pm Concert at the Saarbrücker Jazz Festival organised by Jazz Syndikat with The Espen Eriksen Trio at Hotel Restaurant Leidinger in Saarbrücken The Espen Eriksen Trio comes from Norway and is considered one of the best Scandinavian trio. The band plays music with elements of Scandinavian folklore and North-European piano sounds. Espen-Eriksen Musical Evening A Christmas Carol Monday, 4th December xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 2017, 7.30 pm The goal of the American Drama Group Europe is to perform high-quality theatre in as many countries as possible. This year they are coming to Saarbrücken thanks to a collaboration with the German-American Institute Saarbrücken. The theatre group will perform Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol. Paul Stebbings

4 Events in the winter term 2017/18 Information session and Get-together Monday, 11th December, Campus Saarbrücken 5pm at room 2.24, Building A4 4 (International Office) Introduction of the support services of the International Office and of GradUS for international doctoral researchers and scientists 6.30 pm in Canossa (below the Mensa canteen) Get-together with pizza & pasta You have the possibility to join both the information session and the Get-together or only one of the events. Canossa Daytrip to Strasbourg City and Chrismas Market Saturday, 16th December xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx am meeting point at Saarbrücken central station, direct train to Strasbourg 2 pm Christmas tour We ll be back in Saarbrücken around 9 pm. 5 Events in the winter term 2017/18 Tour with the night watchman in St. Wendel Saturday, 24th February 2018 We ll discover the city with a night watchman, who will guide us through past epochs on an exciting journey. Wearing a historical robe and with his halberd, he will show us the romantic and remarkable corners of St. Wendel.
