About fifteen took part in the Public Stitch Day on the banks of the Maitai River on the 11 th. The weather was summery and we had a good time stitching in the open air, with several passers-by showing interest in what we were doing. It was great to see more than twenty people enjoying their stitching at Paretai too. There was lots of talk and laughter. Thank you to Peggy for the organisation and to Christine and Nadia for the wee projects. Will we see any finished on the Show and Tell table next meeting? The projects could be available at a Broadgreen stitch day for those who would like to do them but couldn t get to Paretai. Several workshops are being planned. Angela has agreed to teach a traditional Hilda Bottomley class doing hems and mitred corners -- great for beginners and those of us who need to brush up on these skills. It will run over two Saturdays in April and there will be a clip board to sign up for this at the March meeting. There will also be a clip board to register interest in other possible workshops later in the year. Happy stitching Catherine Check this out Jane Couch will be giving a Guild talk later in the year on Opus Anglicanum. Jane has been in touch with the V&A museum and they have recommended the following video clip on medieval embroidery. It is beautifully done and well worth a quiet look. Diary Dates 1.

3 Library News As we approach the second meeting of the year can I ask you to look out your books for returning. A large box will be on the table and we ask you to place your returns in this and Catherine and I will have them processed as quickly as possible so they will be available for others to borrow. As I write this little note our new Fabricate magazine subscription has been ordered. I have taken this for 12 months. I hope you will all enjoy reading this New Zealand publication. Look forward to seeing you all Wednesday evening. Helen MacKenzie Ph: / hm.mackenzie@clear.net.nz 8 Holdaway Grove, Richmond Our public stitching day on the banks of the Maitai River was a big success - 16 members enjoyed embroidering and chatting in the Nelson sunshine. Embroidery on the Up!??? Jackie Bethwaite showed us the hundred... yes that s right one hundred beautiful things that she has made for Conference 2018 dinner attendees. The Guild is extremely appreciative of this wonderful contribution. I love these secrets that we are storing up for Conference 2018!! / This is an interesting clip from the BBC (you ll need to be a facebook user). Courtesy of Karen Richards 3
