1 Press for change Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre DELEGATE INFORMATION Thank you for your participation in the 2018 Inspire!Convention at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. This information has been compiled to assist you and hopefully take some of the stress out of your day ABOUT THE CONVENTION Please review the information carefully and contact us immediately if you need additional information. Contact: or Inspire! presented by the Queensland Resources Council and Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ) provides an exceptional professional development day for women working in Queensland s resources sector. The convention was conducted for the first time in 2012 and is part of the QRC s Women in Resources Action Plan and WIMARQ s calendar of activities to encourage the attraction and retention of women in the resources sector. QRC s member companies have a target of at least 20 percent women in non-traditional roles in Queensland s resources sector by Currently this stands at just under 14 percent. CONVENTION HOSTS QRC is a not-for-profit peak industry association representing the commercial developers of Queensland s minerals and energy resources. QRC works to secure an environment conducive to the long-term sustainability of minerals and energy sector industries in Queensland including the supply of sufficient highly-skilled people, hence the need to attract and retain women who make up just 15 percent of our workforce in Queensland. Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ) is is a voluntary, not-for-profit group that organises events aimed at bringing together women in all areas of the resource sector. WIMARQ seeks to include people from the mining, exploration, metals processing, oil and gas industries. WIMARQ is supported by the Queensland Resources Council. Its vision is to create a diverse community of passionate people collaborating to connect, nurture and support women to achieve their goals within the Queensland minerals and energy sector

3 GUEST SPEAKERS OUR COMPERE: Jules Brown Jules Brown is Manager Environment Wood. An environmental project manager and mining engineer with more than 17 years experience throughout Australia, Asia Pacific and South America. She is a chartered professional (environment) with the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), and a qualified person under NI for signing off on environmental and social components. Jules is the Chair of the AusIMM s Community and Environment Society committee, and past Chair and committee member of Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ). MODERATOR: Rachael Robertson Rachael Robertson Rachael Robertson (CSP, MBA), an Antarctic expedition leader, best-selling author and Australia s pre-eminent authority on extreme leadership. PANELLISTS: Sarah Coughlan is a mining engineer who graduated from the University of Queensland in Since then she has worked in underground coal mines for Anglo American, currently at Moranbah North Mine. She has been underground on crew for most of that time, working towards a Queensland Mine Deputy s Certificate of Competency. Jo-Anne Dudley graduated as a mining engineer in She has worked in underground mines throughout Australia and in South Africa and the USA. Jo currently manages Strategic Mine & Resources Planning for the Oyu Tolgoi Mine in Mongolia,commuting to site regularly from Brisbane. Janette Hewson is Peabody s Vice President, Government Relations and General Counsel, Australia. She is a member of the Minerals Council of Australia s Workforce Gender Diversity Working Group and Peabody Australia s Inclusion and Diversity Advisory Board. She is also a member of the NSW Minerals Council Executive Committee. Janette won the 2015 Exceptional Women in Queensland Mining Award and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
4 PANELLISTS: Craig McCabe is Chief Executive Officer Wesfarmers Resources. Craig has worked in the mining industry for more than 20 years across Western Australia and Queensland. He has more than 10 years experience with Curragh, where he commenced as a mining engineer in Craig is also a Director of Wesfarmers Resources Limited and a number of its subsidiaries. He holds a Bachelor of Mining, a Bachelor of Science, and a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration. Karen Alexander is Manager of Strategic Alliances Mining with Hastings Deering, its first female senior executive sales business leader. Karen was one of the first female engineering graduates from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and was the first female fuels and lubricants product application engineer to be permitted access to underground mine services at Mount Isa Mines. She was also the first female fuels and lubricants product application engineer at Shell before leading Shell s global technical business. Karen reached the summit of Mount Everest in 2014 and was recognised for her 30-year involvement with QUT in 2006 when she received the Dean s award. She is winner of the 2017 QRC/WIMARQ Resources Awards for Women. Cecile Wake, Winner of the QRC/WIMARQ Resources Awards for Women and the Women in Resources National Award in 2016, Cecile is a senior executive with over 20 years international experience in LNG, oil and gas and mining sectors. She is Vice- President Commercial Australia at Shell Australia. She is a director of Shell Energy Australia; a member of the University of Queensland Senate; and Chair of the St Aidan s School Council. Cecile earned a B.Econ and LLB (Hons) from the University of Queensland and represented Australia in Modern Pentathlon at seven World Championships and multiple World Cups between Maria Joyce, General Manager - Strategy & Business Development at MEC Mining is Chair of Women in Mining and Resources Queensland. She has more than 14 years experience in leadership, operational, technical and business improvement roles across the mining industry. She is an AUSIMM Chartered Professional, Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) and a Competent Person for various open-pit deposits. Maria is also Queensland s WIMNET committee representative and for the past three years has supported both the WIMARQ/QRC and UQ Business School mentoring programs. Melanie Gordon is the Manager of Integrated Operations for BHP and has worked in the mining industry for 18 years both internationally and domestically. She is a mechanical engineer with an MBA and Masters in Science and Technology. Mel is on the risk and audit committee for the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport. She is a member of the Board for Women in Engineering at the University of Queensland and has recently returned to work following 14 months parental leave after the birth of her second child.
5 WORKSHOP LEADERS WORKSHOP 1: Brand You HELEN BESLY Helen Besly oversees the company-wide management of Rowland s strategic offering, including the growth and management of the full breadth of our communication services.with more than 30 years experience in providing strategic counsel in communication, issues management, and organisational change, Helen is widely regarded as one of the leading minds in Australia s communication industry. Noted by clients and associates for having an insightful and candid approach to business and communication challenges, Helen is a corporate coach to many of Australia s senior business and community leaders and sought-after facilitator. WORKSHOP 2: The Prosperous Mind MARGIE IRELAND Margie Ireland has been a coach and consultant to executives for 15 years. This includes being an owner and partner in two businesses as well as leading and coaching teams in executive recruitment and search firms. Margie has a Bachelor in Behavioural Science (Psychology) Honours and is a registered Provisional Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). Her recent research investigated work goals and well-being and strategies for both. She further explored the mechanisms that increase and decrease stress in the workplace. Margie has a passion for coaching and mentoring business leaders experiencing difficulties in achieving career and business milestones, while helping organisations understand why good people leave, how to solve this problem and create

7 Press for change CONVENTION INFORMATION CONVENTION VENUE FLOOR PLAN Plaza Terrace room a FIRST AID If you require First Aid please go to the conference registration desk LOST AND FOUND Please ensure that you secure all valuables, including laptops, tablets and mobile phones at all times. If you lose an item or find an item while attending the convention please contact the convention registration desk. LUGGAGE STORAGE Please see concierge desk to the left of the escalators in the main entrance of the venue. CONVENTION ORGANISERS If you require any assistance please see Caroline Morrissey. (ph ) or Louise Stubberfield (ph ) any of the WIMARQ committee LIFTS All areas of the centre can be accessed by lifts and ramps. Each lift is fitted with an emergency button and an emergency telephone and has audible and visual cues to indicate floor levels. PARKING Designated access car parking bays are conveniently located close to the car park entrance lobbies in car parks 1 & 2. Look for the individually identified bays. TOILETS Unisex wheelchair accessible toilets are located on every level through all foyers, exhibition and concourse areas. Toilets have hand basins and are fitted with handrails and a monitored emergency duress system.
8 Press for change CONVENTION INFORMATION HEARING IMPAIRED/TRANSLATION The Plaza Terrace room is fitted with a hearing loop. Multi channel infrared translation system provides translation facilities for non-english speaking delegates and for the hearing and sight impaired WHEELCHAIRS A limited number of wheelchairs are available for loan for patrons attending events. They are available from the Information Desks at Merivale Street or Grey Street and our Exhibitor Services Office. There are a number of designated wheelchair and companion seating locations in the auditorium. To request accessible seating call the Box Office Special Needs Booking Line direct on (07) , between 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday. BCEC staff and conference organisers are not permitted to physically assist patrons from wheelchairs, walkers or other aids. Where physical assistance is required this must be provided by the patron s own carer.
