15 15 IMPLEMENTATION Marine transportavon infrastructure investment support program 200 M$ to support projects in the marine sector Three components Upgrade marine and intermodal freight transporta/on infrastructure (inspec/ons, studies, and upkeep and construc/on works) Support pilot projects in marine freight transporta/on Modernize infrastructures used for marine transporta/on of passengers, par/cularly in the intermediate ferry sector

18 18 B: RESEARCH AND INNOVATION NINE MAJOR PROJECTS Réseau Québec MariVme Proposal currently being studied by the Gouvernement du Québec Tabling within the next few weeks of a proposal from the Gouvernement du Québec of an agreement for the crea/on of the Réseau Québec Mari/me Mee/ngs between the Secrétariat aux affaires mari/mes and all stakeholders to set the guidelines for this new partnership

21 21 NINE MAJOR PROJECTS C: ENVIRONMENT Marine protected areas Commitment by the Gouvernement du Québec to protect at least 10% of Québec s marine area, as part of the Mari/me Strategy (14,500 km 2 ) A shared willingness of the governments of Canada and Québec to protect Québec s marine areas Finaliza/on of a Canada- Québec framework agreement to facilitate the crea/on of marine protected areas, in the spring of 2016 Crea/on of a marine protected area on the American Bank: 1,000 km 2 off the coast of Gaspésie Poten/al plan for a marine protected area, off the Îles- de- la- Madeleine Development of future plans for marine protected areas

22 22 NINE MAJOR PROJECTS D: EDUCATION New program of professional seamanship studies Development of a new program of professional studies for versa/le training adapted to the needs of businesses, deck- hands and engine room employees Selec/on of the best ins/tu/on to deliver the program Implementa/on: in 2017, subject to availability of partners in the labour market and of the ministère de l Éduca/on et de l Enseignement supérieur

24 24 REVIEW OF INVESTMENTS 41 projects announced and confirmed So far, Québec s contribu/on (95.1 M$) has generated total investments of 696 M$ To this should be added: The 700 M$ Resolve project at the DAVIE shipyard A poten/al 800 M$ project to build a liquefied natural gas plant, in Bécancour (Stolt LNGaz)
