23 Building mainland developments Outside Hong Kong, SHKP is making major strides on the mainland. It has a focused strategy concentrating on prime cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Shanghai IFC a new icon SHKP is establishing its reputation on the mainland with major developments in prime cities. Shanghai IFC will have over four million square feet of floor area in two towers, consisting of premium offices, a modern shopping centre and two deluxe hotels including a Ritz-Carlton. One of the towers will house the China head office of HSBC. The Huai Hai Zhong Road project in the busy district of Puxi will offer a high-end shopping centre, top offices and luxury homes. The mall will be connected to a subway station at the convergence of three major rail lines. The Wei Fong luxury residential project in Pudong is destined to set new standards of refinement in Shanghai, with a splendid view of the Bund. 31 Corporate social responsibility SHKP lives up to its corporate social responsibility by supporting numerous charities, promoting education, helping the needy and encouraging community harmony and healthy family living. The company has a strong commitment to protecting the environment, and it incorporates green features in its operations and property management to promote green living. Green living In line with its Building Homes with Heart principle, SHKP is committed to conserving resources. It has an environmental committee to oversee green policies and ensure that they are consistently applied in planning, design, construction, material sourcing, landscaping and property management. It also encourages residents to participate in environmental protection through green initiatives by its two property management companies Hong Yip and Kai Shing. Green education at Ma Wan Park Ma Wan Park Nature Garden combines themes of nature, education, art and love. Over 90% of the 5.6-hectare park is covered in greenery, and levered paths built along the hills are among the extensive measures to keep the ecology and plants intact, preserve thousands of native trees and offer a lush natural environment for visitors. 32 Promoting knowledge SHKP believes that knowledge is key to the future, and it set up the SHKP Book Club in 2005 to promote reading in Hong Kong through activities including book review and young writers competitions, seminars hosted by noted scholars and a free literary magazine. SHKP has worked with the Chinese University of Hong Kong to bring Nobel laureates to speak in a series of public talks since Bringing art to life SHKP encourages art and culture. Its SHKP Charitable Fund collaborated with the government and cultural groups to create a City Art Square displaying sculptures by local and overseas artists entwined with an Olympic theme.
