59 PHIL McARTHUR, CRX, CSM, CDP Founder and Managing Director With a 36-year career track record in the development and expansion of shopping centres globally, Phil has an international reputation for delivering highly-successful projects across the Middle East, North America, North Africa and Asia. His past senior executive positions include companies such as global Real Estate giant Ivanhoe Cambridge, Al Futtaim Group, CityStars, MAF Shopping Centres and Brookfield Properties. Just some of the prestigious projects he has under his belt are Dubai Festival City, City Centre Deira, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Muscat and CityStars in Cairo. FURQAN ATHAR, FCA, FCMA (UK) Partner / Director Strategic Planning & Finance Furqan s expertise in shopping centre investment, underwriting, and operational finance is well-known across the region. He has extensive experience in all aspects of the shopping centre industry, most specifically in investment management and value creation. In previous management positions with Majid Al Futtaim Shopping Centres and Al Futtaim Group Real Estate, he has been instrumental in the financial and strategic planning of some of the Middle East and Asia s most successful shopping centres and mixed-use developments. TOM DVORACEK Director, Retail Development Tom leads the research, development and operations advisory team at McARTHUR + COMPANY. He has more than a dozen years of experience in retail development, asset management, operations and leasing with Dubai-based real estate giants such as Al Futtaim Group Real Estate, Majid Al Futtaim Properties and Emaar Malls Group. At Majid Al Futtaim, he was instrumentally involved in the planning, re-development and leasing of Deira City Centre, leasing and opening of Mirdif City Centre, and expansion of Ajman City Centre. As Senior Asset Manager at Emaar Malls Group, Tom oversaw Downtown Dubai retail assets, and Emaar Communities Centres. He left Emaar as General Manager of Dubai Marina Mall and Dubai Marina Retail. SYLVIE SADDIK, MSc General Manager, Business Development Marketing Sylvie is a strategic thinker and CRM expert who builds McARTHUR + COMPANY s market position developing, negotiating and closing business relationships. She was previously part of the operations management team at Dubai Miracle Garden, a highly popular outdoor family entertainment venue in the heart of Dubai. In the development of Cityland Mall in Dubai, she proved to be an essential asset in driving business expansion through aggressive deal negotiations. Sylvie is a Lebanese National and she is fluent in Arabic, English and French.
60 NEBOJSA ZARIC, MBA Manager, Retail Development Nebojsa has more than eight years experience in asset, property and leasing management for office and retail projects. He was part of the largest Serbian development company MPC Properties/Merrill Lynch and also at Confluence Property Management, the largest property management company in the Balkans. While at Confluence, he led the property management team at Usce Tower and subsequently became Leasing Manager of the Usce Shopping Center, the largest in the Balkan region. MEGAN WHITEHORN Research Analyst After studying Hospitality Management in South Africa Megan began travelling around the world, which ultimately lead her to the UAE. With a background in administration work Megan began her career in Dubai with MERAAS Holding, one of the leading lifestyle development companies, starting in the Retail department and then in the Business Excellence department. Megan has joined the Retail Development department at McARTHUR + COMPANY where she will use her administrative and organizational skills to assist with advancing the market research across all projects in the GCC. MATTHEW STYCH, BA HONS Market Research Manager Retail Advisory Matthew has spent more than 12 years researching and analyzing retailer performance, as well as macroeconomic retail and consumer trends in both developed and emerging markets. Before joining McARTHUR + COMPANY, Heworkedat Planet Retail in London and Hong Kong, and was previously head of retail research at Euromonitor International. As well as his retail industry reports in both print and broadcast media, he has spoken at a number of trade events, including the National Retail Federation s BIG Show and Reuters Consumer and Retail Summit. USMAN SAQIB, ACCA General Manager, Finance Usman is a highly accomplished, innovative and performance-driven Finance and Accounts Professional with over 7 years of an extensive experience in Accounting and Finance Operations. He has been previously associated with Ersnt & Young and AkzoNobel. His comprehensive experience in Strategic Financial Planning, Budgeting & MIS, IFRS and mobilization of funds for new growth opportunities has helped in delivering consistent results. He also played a key role in AkzoNobel in carrying out various Feasibility Studies for CAPEX investments and launching of new ventures.
61 AMIT PURI, MRICS General Manager, Leasing Amit is a passionate real estate professional with more than 15 years experience in India and Dubai. He currently spearheads the implementation and management of strategic leasing initiatives and conducts in-depth analyses of markets and customized tenant mix solutions. He has worked in India with prestigious companies such as Ivanhoe Cambridge, Prestige Developers and Cushman and Wakefield, and has vast experience in sales/leasing strategies business development, investment advisory and retail functions. HITESH MIRANI, BSc Leasing Executive Hitesh has over 4 years of management and 8 years of sales/marketing experience across Canada and UAE. He is previously connected with a Real Estate Company and worked as General Manager wherein he manages the daily operation and was able to inspire a multi-cultural team towards common goals in attaining and delivery of sales and leasing objectives of the company. He also worked as a Senior Executive Marketing & Sales with Tecom Investment wherein he brought several strategic clients to set up business at Dubai Industrial City. EHSAN CHIZARI, BSc Leasing Executive Ehsan attended University College London (UCL) where he obtained a First Class honours in Project Management for Construction. After graduating, he undertook an internship at CBRE before joining GAP Inc. where he worked on the European retail portfolio. Prior to joining McArthur & Company, Ehsan was part of Knight Frank s retail agency team and was responsible for leasing retail space across the UAE.
