This first time event, to be hosted in Port Vila, Vanuatu, will explore the key influences that will drive and shape future thinking in terms of tourism destination development and design. - Key focus points for the Pacific Tourism Insights Conference INSIGHTS EXPERTISE DEVELOPMENT SUSTAINABILITY Key topics to be analysed and discussed during this insightful event will correspond to the Pacific Island Tourism Framework, led by the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO). 2 VENUE PORT VILA VANUATU - Putting destinations on the map - ABOUT EVENT ORGANISER & PARTNERS Founded in 1951, PATA is a not-for-profit membership association that acts a catalyst for the responsible development of travel and tourism to, from and within the Asia Pacific region. The Association provides aligned advocacy, insightful research and innovative events to its member organisations, comprising 95 government, state and city tourism bodies, 25 international airlines and airports, 108 hospitality organisations, 72 educational institutions, and hundreds of travel industry companies in Asia Pacific and beyond. Thousands of travel professionals belong to the 36 local PATA chapters worldwide. The chapters organise travel industry training and business development events. Established in 1983 as the Tourism Council of the South Pacific, the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) is the mandated organisation representing Tourism in the region. Its 18 Government members are American Samoa, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and the People s Republic of China. In addition to government members, the South Pacific Tourism Organisation has over 100 private sector members. The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, Cap 142 of The Office a body corporate under the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, Commerce and Ni-Vanuatu Business (MTTCNVB) is mandated to encourage and assist the sustainable development of the tourism industry within Vanuatu by undertaking coordinated tourism marketing in overseas and domestic markets. VTO works in partnership with the Industry and other government partners to deliver the country s tourism vision which is Tourism celebrates Vanuatu s culture and environment, empowers its people and captivates its visitors throughout the islands. 2
