8 Accommodation We ll stay in a selection of comfortable 3 & 4-star hotels and lodges, from modern city centre hotels to perfectly located wilderness lodges. All are en-suite and offer a taste of Australia. The Grace Hotel, Sydney (2 nights) - In the heart of Sydney, this heritage-listed hotel offers us the ideal location for exploring the city, good comfortable rooms and the prefect mix of old world charm with modern comfort. The Carrington, Katoomba (2 nights) The Carrington is perfect for our exploration of this World Heritage National Park. It still maintains a character and style befitting its former grandeur, and gives us large, comfortable rooms. Alto on Bourke, Melbourne (1 night) - Right in the centre of the city, again our accommodation here is perfectly located to allow us to explore independently if we've time (and energy) after the day's activities. Clean and comfortable rooms, the Alto Hotel on Bourke also prides itself on its eco-friendly practices. Comfort Inn The International, Apollo Bay (2 nights) Just a short walk to the beach or the shops gives us options to take a stroll in the evening if we wish. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. There's a small pool too. Cradle Mountain Hotel, Tasmania (2 nights) - Here we stay in the heart of alpine bush, at the boundary of Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park. Welcoming log fires and the Wilderness Gallery are a highlight of the Chateau, with 10 rooms showcasing Australian photography. Add large, comfortable rooms and we have the ideal location. Corinna, Tarkine, Tasmania (2 nights) - We stay in the heart of the Tarkine in cottages which back directly onto the rainforest. The Tarkine is one of the least visited places in Tasmania due to its accessibility, making this a unique experience. Each cottage has its own veranda and fully equipped kitchen. Water is heated by solar power, with each cottage having its own rainwater collection tank. Stanley Seaview Inn, Stanley, Tasmania (1 night) - Located on Tasmania's North West Coast, our hotel here has wonderful views over the bay, and of "The Nut". Rooms are all spacious and comfortable. 8

9 Grand Chancellor, Launceston, Tasmania (1 night) The hotel is central and offers us large, comfortable rooms. The hotel is graded as a 4.5 star, and whilst it provides us a good standard of accommodation, in our opinion, you should expect 3+ star standards. launceston/ Wintersun Gardens, Bicheno, Tasmania (2 nights) - Our accommodation here is simple, but clean and comfortable. This is a motel rather than a hotel and the facilities reflect this. The accommodation is set in lovely gardens and offers a nice quiet out-oftown location. Lenna of Hobart, Hobart, Tasmania (2 nights) - Comfortable, good sized rooms with views over the harbour or Mount Wellington and a warm welcome at our final accommodation. The 4 star heritage hotel Lenna is in the perfect location if you wish to explore Hobart at the end of the day. It's located right on the waterfront and only a short distance to the city centre. 9

If you require a specific meal on the flight, please let us know as soon as possible, and no later than 96 hours before travel. Travel tips for a comfortable flight We ve put together a few simple tips to help make your flight as comfortable as possible, ensuring you begin your holiday in tip-top shape. Eat light. Avoid heavy meals and foods air expands at altitude and heavy meals will result in that bloated feeling Moisturise. Your skin, especially your lips and nostrils, may feel dry so moisturising creams may help. If you wear contact lenses, always carry your glasses with you, as your eyes may feel dryer than usual Stay loose. Wear loose fitting, comfortable shoes and clothes Flight socks are recommended to help prevent DVT on longhaul flights Lost/damaged luggage Move about. Change position and avoid crossing your legs. Immobility poses the greatest risk in the development of clotting disorders. Get out of your seat and walk around as regularly as possible to improve circulation No pills. Unless advised by your doctor, do not take sleeping tablets on the flight; this will reduce your mobility and make you feel sluggish Protect your ears. If you experience discomfort due to the cabin pressure changes, suck a sweet, chew, or hold your nostrils and gently blow through your nose; this should equalise the pressure. If you still experience problems, speak to a member of the cabin crew Drink plenty. Ask a member of the cabin crew if you are thirsty. Avoid alcohol, tea, coffee or carbonated drinks as these will dehydrate you. Instead, try to drink plenty of fruit juices or water If your bag or its contents are damaged or lost while in the airline s care, this should be reported to the baggage service agents at the airport. They will assess the damage and in some cases the airline may decide to settle your claim immediately. You will be given a reference to quote to your insurance company if settlement cannot be reached. In many cases baggage claims can only be accepted in writing. A baggage claim form must be obtained from the airport. HF Holidays with-flight guests For those travelling on our HF Holidays group flight, please proceed to the arrivals hall once you have passed through passport control, customs and baggage reclaim, when you arrive at your destination. Your leader or local leader will assemble the group in the arrivals hall. Look out for the HF Holidays sign. 12

13 Independent travellers If you are arriving ahead of the group, and are meeting them at the first hotel, please leave a message at the hotel reception for the HF Holidays leader or local leader, detailing your room number, and a mobile telephone number if possible. The leader will contact you once the group arrives. If you are arriving after the group, a message will be left for you at the hotel reception, welcoming you and giving details of the time and place to meet the group. If your flight arrives before the group flight and you would like to join the transfer to the first hotel, please contact our Abroad Administration team on (0) They will have a list of the relevant transfer costs. Safety on your holiday Once you have made your booking, you will receive a pre-holiday questionnaire where we ask for details of next of kin, and insurance details. We need to have this from you at least 4 weeks before travel. Please also inform us of any medical situation which may affect your enjoyment of the holiday wish to bring these items with you In the unlikely event that your leader is incapacitated, please use any emergency kit in their rucksack and call emergency services on 000 (112 from mobile).
