2 Bill Franks and Steve Taylor Founding Shareholders The 20 year milestone for Total is a personal celebration as well. I could not have imagined from our humble beginnings at the end of 1994 in a tiny office at Wetherill Park that we would grow to over 100 staff, 3 state offices, 3 divisions and close to $1 billion worth of projects wow!! I ve often been asked what I see as our key success factors and I always reply employ people with passion, give them leadership, belief and the right systems, and with this a team can achieve anything. I truly believe we have. A major part of our success is our ability to form and maintain long-term relationships with clients and suppliers. Kennards Hire and Kennards Self Storage are standouts. We have worked in some capacity in nearly every KSS or KHS site throughout Australia; with 4 key people contributing enormously to our success - Andy Kennard, Nev Kennard, Sam Kennard and Peter Lancken. One of my greatest achievements is that Bill Franks and I have remained great friends after 20 years working together, and I am proud and grateful for his support. Putting together this booklet, it s the memories of achievements and long-term friendships that have really stood out. I personally see Total continuing to expand and succeed and I look forward to remaining part of it! Currently the focus in on 4 key market segments: Health and Aged Care Industrial and Commercial Food and Beverage Renewable Energies These segments reflect a balance between traditional markets of Industrial and Commercial, to active markets of Health and Aged Care and to the emerging and highly technical markets of Food and Beverage, and Renewable Energies. 4 The Total Story... Our first logo TOTAL CONSTRUCTION PTY LTD January Business incorporated by Steve Taylor and Bill Franks. Total s first office was only 8m 2 and located in Wetherill Park, Sydney First employee hired, Charles Crow. Rollouts of Kennards Self Storage in Artarmon; and Kennards Hire in Gosford and St Marys Opened office in South Australia $50 million of construction work completed Jobpac implemented to streamline our accounting and project management systems KSS in Port Melbourne - $6 million 2004 First major milestone project - KSS in Brookvale - $8m Our first ever project was for Rheem. Our first project for Kennards Self Storage was in Hornsby. We have sustained an ongoing successful partnership with Kennards Self Storage and Kennards Hire. Expanded into new office in North Strathfield Opened office in Victoria. First fit-out project - Roche Diagnostics - $3 million First business sponsorship - Sporting Chance. First health project - Stockland Bateau Bay Medical Centre - $750k. First education project - RMIT computer studio in Victoria - $1 million First Victorian project - KSS, Mitcham; KSS becomes a national client. Major sponsorship - Stepping Stone. 5 2007 First Aged Care project - Amity (BUPA) Windsor - $1.1 million First project over $10 million - Uniting Church Peakhurst, NSW - $14.7 million AWARD WIN Marcellin College in Victoria won MBA Excellence in Construction (Commercial Building under $5m) for the construction of their gym Food & Beverage division incorporated. First major project in F&B - Tip Top - $6 million First club project - Revesby Workers Club - $1 million First project over $20 million - The Valley Private Hospital, VIC - $20.5 million First project over $30 million - British American Tobacco Australia - $45 million Steve Taylor steps back and appoints new CEO, General Manager NSW and Chairman Melbourne office moves to Gwynne Street Richmond. $850 million of construction work completed. 6 Interesting Total Facts Total led the way in hiring older employees who brought experience and stability to the busines In 2004, Business Review Weekly ran a story about the advantages of employing an older workface and interviewed Steve Taylor for the story. Total helped Kennards Hire Service establish their business in VIC, SA and WA In 2001, Total was engaged to change over the brand from Richard Stevens Hire to Kennards Hire across 25 sites in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Total is a member of Family Business Australia FBA is the peak body for family business in Australia, a sector which accounts for almost half a million businesses and 50% of the Australian workforce. Total has generational employees We have many members of the same families working at Total; demonstrating employee satisfaction. Total has delivered projects in every state of Australia Total has undergone a substantial changeover in its management structure In 2014 after 3 years of careful planning, Steve Taylor stepped back from the business and internally promoted Jeff Jones to Chief Executive Officer and Mark Ardouin to General Manager, New South Wales. Total also appointed a new non-executive chairman, Jim McDowell. The restructure will allow the company to grow into its next chapter.
