2 Background and Research Methodology Greenpeace, to be henceforth also referred to as the client, approached Hansa Research to conduct an opinion poll on environmental pollution and more specifically on dismantling of Clemenceau, the French naval ship which is bound to the Indian coast for dismantling. Client also wishes to gather public perception on general production, trade, use, and release of such hazardous material in India. Target Respondents 1) Opinion leaders like: Teachers Executives in Pvt. Sector Government officials NGOs College / university students Students of premier institutes IIT / IIM Bureaucrats and judiciary Journalists MDs / CEOs of manufacturing companies 1) Delhi 2) Mumbai 3) Chennai 4) Bangalore 5) Kolkata 6) Hyderabad 7) Bhubaneshwar 8) Pune 9) Chandigarh ) Ahmedabad Cities 2) General Public Male Female, SEC A/B, years of age Face to face interviews were conducted, using a structured questionnaire

5 To foster development, it is reasonable to accept lower safety for workers - and lower environmental standards in India than in the developed world

8 To be able to compete with other developing nations like China, we need to compromise on workers health and accept pollution of our rivers and countryside
