3 THE 50th INTERNATIONAL HOP GROWERS CONVENTION CHINA 2005 From July 25 th to July 31 st 2005 GENERAL INFORMATION CONGRESS VENUE The IHGC China 2005 will be held at the Ningwozhuang Guesthouse in Lanzhou City. The Ningwozhuang Guesthouse is a comfortable 4-star hotel situated in the center of the City. REGISTRATION AND FEE Preliminary registration: Participants are requested to register by sending a completed registration form and respective payment not later than May 16, 2005 to the address of the Congress Office in accordance with the form of payment the participants fill in: Registration Form Registration Form for Bank Transfer Payment Registration Form for Credit Card Payment VISA applications Upon receiving the letter of invitation with Registration Form, delegates are able to handle visa issues with relevant forms accordingly. Registration Forms are also available from our website of congress office: Registration fee for delegates or accompanying persons are 320 Euro (After May 16 will be 360 Euro). In case of credit card payment 1% bank commission is added to the price. Registration fee includes: attendance at all sessions, congress materials (delegates only), and attendance at special events. Extra costs: 1. Accommodation is in hotels in Lanzhou City, per day is 46 EUR/person; 2. The Labrang Monastery lies in Xiahe County in Gansu Province, one of the typical temples of Yellow Lamaism (a branch of Buddhism). 18 MONETARY SYSTEM: The currency in China is Chinese RMB Yuan. 1 Euro=about 10 RMB Yuan. (Each day there is a market currency exchange rate). Your can exchange Euro, US dollars and other currencies in banks, exchange offices and most hotels. LANZHOU CITY is situated in the northwest of China with the Huagnhe River (known as the Chinese people s mother river for the Chinese civilization originated from its reaches) running through its center. Lanzhou has a long history and splendid culture. In ancient time it was an important fort along the well-known Silk Road where the eastern and western cultures exchanged and mingled. There are lots of cultural and natural sites waiting you to visit and enjoy. DUNHUANG MOGAO GROTTOES is one of the cultural heritages listed by UNESCO. Lying on the Silk Road, it is known for its lots of colorful frescoes and statues, which record the history that Buddhism came into ancient China and gradually mingled into the Chinese culture and the life of ancient Chinese people. During the process of the congress, we will organize you to visit it. JIAYUGUAN CASTLE - Jiayuguan Tower is situated in Jiayuguan City of Gansu Province and on the Silk Road. Surrounded by mountains, it was a very important military fort. As the west end of the Great Wall, it is well known for its majesty and honored as the most majestic tower of the Great Wall. THE QILIAN MOUNTAIN is a marginal mountain of the Qinghai-Tibet Platean with the east-west length 800km, the south-north length km, the height above sea level m and the total area 2062km 2. The typical sights of the mountain are glaciers with the most famous one being the Qiyi glacier. We can overlook the grand snow-capped mountains at Xiaheqing Farm. ACCOMMODATION:The hotels we chose are all comfortable star hotels, among which Ningwozhuang Guesthouse, the accommodation in Lanzhou City, is a 4-star hotel enjoying beautiful environment and complete facilities and providing excellent service. We believe you will have a good time when staying there. CLIMATE AND WEATHER: China has moderate and dry climate with a quite big difference in day and night temperature.
