6 SUMMARY The fet 11 Exhibition was designed to demonstrate the potential, diversity and the importance of foundational long term research in future ICT. The Programme Committee selected 30 exhibitions presenting a mix of impressive achievements as well as early stage results, ideas and prototypes to illustrate the wide variety of disciplines, technologies and domains involved in future and emerging information technologies. Therefore, the exhibition area was designed to host 30 booths. It was to occupy a central role in the overall floor plan, with participants passing through the exhibition area to reach any other conference destination (e.g., Science Café, break-out rooms for parallel sessions; Patria auditorium for plenary sessions). The exhibition area included a European Commission Information Stand (EC InfoStand). Additional informational stands were located on the first level, near the registration desks (e.g. ERCIM/W3C, e-science Talk). The exhibition area respected fire safety regulations.
