Jakarta is one of the exception, despite of the economic slowdown, Jakarta have been able to attract many investors to invest. In 2014, the government have recorded an increase of 74.16% on the value of FDI in Jakarta, from USD 2.95 billion in 2013 to USD 4.51 billion in 2014, and the domestic investment have recorded a growth of 208.9%, from IDR 5,766 trillion in 2013 to IDR 17,811 trillion in ECONOMY In 2015, Jakarta s economy have grew by an overall 5.88%, which occurred in all of the business fields. Financial services has the highest growth of 10.72%, followed by information and communication by 10.07% and transportation warehousing by 8.99%. Jakarta s economic structure by industrial origin in 2015 was dominated by four main businesses: wholesale and retail trade and repair of cars and motorcycles (16.65%);
5 processing industry (13.84 %), construction (13.16 %) and financial services and insurance (10.35 %). INFRASTRUCTURE Transportation Act as the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta is equipped with various kinds of modern transportation that includes air, sea, rail, and land transportations. The city has an easy access to the largest and most modern airport in the country, it also has the most important harbour in Indonesia and also well connected by railroad to other major cities in Java Island. The latest transportations infrastructure development is the monorail transportation system. Telecommunication Telecommunication infrastructure has been well implemented and have covered the entire city with an easy access. Energy In terms of electricity, the National Electricity Company is the main power supplier of the city. The company have been developing new power grids in the recent years in order to be able to supply up to Mega Watt of electricity for the city.
6 TOURISM FACTS ATTRACTION There are many tourist attractions in Jakarta City, starting from the national historical, cultural attractions, and etc. Some of the most famous tourist attractions are: 1. National Monument (Monas) Monas is the icon and one of the centre for entertainment of the city. It has a gold plated peak that shine brightly at night. Monas is the gathering place for peoples from various background and social status. It is often used as the centre of arts and culture festival event that can be enjoyed by the general public for free. 2. Taman Mini Indonesia Indah/TMII (Miniature Park of Indonesia) TMII is a miniature of the Indonesian cultural richness that covers various ethnicity from Sabang to Merauke. It is one of the symbol that represents the cultural diversity of Indonesia. The park has a variety of traditional platform houses, traditional clothes, and traditional dance performances from the 33 provinces of Indonesia. 3. Ancol Dreamland Since its establishment in 1966, Ancol Bay City or also known as Ancol Dreamland is the largest and most interesting recreation park in the Jakarta and even in Indonesia. It consists of golf courses, theme parks, hotels, nightclubs, real estate and swimming pools. It is located on a reclaimed land in the northern part of Jakarta. 4. Jakarta Old Town Jakarta Old Town also known as the Old Batavia, is a small area in the centre of Jakarta City with an area of around 1.3 square kilometres that stretch across North Jakarta and West Jakarta, covering the areas of Pinangsia, Taman Sari and Roa Malacca. Jakarta Old Town is famous for its historical and cultural heritage of both the Dutch and the Chinese.
7 ACCESSIBILITIES Special Capital Region of Jakarta are relatively easy to reach by both domestic and international tourists. The main entry is from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport located in Tangerang, Banten Province, from this airport, tourists could access the city which takes 20 minutes by car, though it depends on which destination that the tourists are going to visit, considering the area of the City.
8 REGIONAL TOURISM POLICY TOURISM POSITION ON REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Tourism has become one of the main priority sector for development by the local government. The government and the community have fully aware of the Jakarta tourism resources and its potential for economic contribution through tourism development. They are welcoming investors that are willing to cooperate not only on developing more tourism attraction and facilities but also to develop in all of tourism aspects of Jakarta. REGIONAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVE The tourism development at the Jakarta must be implemented in compliance with the following principles: 1. Community based tourism Maintain the involvement of the local community and the stakeholders on every tourism development activities 2. Sustainable tourism Continuous improvement and preservation of the environmental, cultural and community aspects of tourism development 3. Cultural preservation Implement and integrate the local culture elements on all of the tourism development activities 4. Collaborative cooperation between stakeholders Cooperate and accommodate all of the stakeholder s aspirations
