4 Reality of Our System Today Need for change

5 Need change The different regional /national ATM modernization programme the fundamental principles but can not explain all details in same way They are developed and governed and funded in the context of, and for, different audiences/ stakeholders/ culture They face different practical issues in terms of transition from legacy, specific business case etc This results in a large collection of disconnected and/or competing descriptions

6 A window to future Global framework is needed to ensure: Safety is maintained and enhanced. ATM improvement programmes are harmonized Barriers to future efficiency and environmental gains are removed, at reasonable cost 6

7 A window to future Investment certainty is required for: Operators Infrastructure providers Equipment manufacturers US$ 120 billion is to be spent on air transportation systems in the next ten years world-wide. 7

25 GAGAN- GPS Aided Geo Augmentation Navigation GAGAN has entered The Final Operations Phase The first milestone is to deliver an RNP 0.1 capability provided over the Indian FIR as specified in the ICAO specification. The second milestone is to deliver APV1 service as specified in the ICAO specification over 90% of the Indian land mass. The certified GAGAN system will be available by June 2013

Benefits of GAGAN GAGAN Foot Print Gains GAGAN is being developed to meet the ICAO GNSS SARPs and it will be interoperable with WAAS,EGNOS, and MSAS.

GAGAN SBAS will be a significant addition to navigation capabilities in the entire South-East ASIA Will lead to greater Regional cooperation (interoperability, increased service areas)

28 A-CDM initiatives Operational Safety and Capacity Enhancement Team ( OSCET) An Airport CDM initiative by IATA, AAI and Airport operator at Mumbai and Delhi functional since 2010 resulting in- Significant improvements in Runway safety Reduction in Runway Occupancy Time (ROT) Improvements in On Time Performance (OTP) To facilitate CDM regular meetings of ANSPs, Airlines and Airport operators are held at all major airports.

30 PIA 2 :Globally Interoperable systems and Data India ATM Initiatives Interoperability Through Groundground Systems Integration AIDC AMHS ATS DATA LINK AIDC Functionality tested between Mumbai-Chennai AIDC capable systems under implementation at all ACCs AIDC trials between Mumbai and Karachi ( Pakistan ) ATN Backbone Ground-Ground links between Mumbai and Singapore operational since in April 2011 Mumbai-Beijing AMHS link is under trial Mumbai-Karachi link under implementation ATS Data link for providing nation wide DATIS, VOLMET connectivity ATS AUTOMATION Integrated ATS Automation systems at Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata (planned) Interconnected ATS Automation systems at other 38 airports.
