A wide variety of special stamps are available in all PTT centers for philatelists. BANKS All major Turkish Bank have branches in the centre of the town where you can open accounts in different currencies. They are open Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. There are cash points belonging to Isbank, Akbank, Garanti Bank, Vakıfbank on Anafartalar Campus, and Garanti Bank, Vakıfbank. Other cash dispensing machines are placed at busy junctions around Canakkale. Ziraat Bank on Terzioglu Campus is situated and it is open 08:30-12:30 13:30-17:30. PUBLIC TRANSPORT Canakkale is a small city and many students walk from their hostels or homes to Anafartalar Campus. Students at Terzioglu Campus usually catch a citybus. You will need to get a Burs Card / Kent Kart which is available many shops around. A bicyle is quite a practical means of getting around. Few students have cars and lack of space prohibits parking on campus for student vehicles. SMOKING Smoking is forbidden in all university classrooms, corridors, government offices and public transport. Outside these restricted areas, smoking is common. 3 Istanbul Ataturk Airport Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport TRAVEL TO CANAKKALE By Plane: There are flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport and Ankara Esenboğa Airport to Canakkale Airport. It costs about 60. Please note that the distance from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport is quite long and travellers find it difficult, costly and time -consuming to transfer from one airport to the other airport. So, we advice you to travel to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport or Ankara Esenboğa Airport if you are going to take a flight to Canakkale. Or if you travel to Ataturk Airport, make sure you have at least 3 hours between flights. You can book your ticket online at : By Intercity Coach Services Çanakkale can be reached by the frequent intercity bus services from Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara. Intercity buses are all modern and air-conditioned. They run almost every hour, day and night. Avoid travelling during National Holidays when there is shortage of places. If you arrive in Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport : Take HAVATAS Bus Services to KADIKOY CENTER ( The last stop) You can also take a taxi but it might be expensive.there are several ofices of bus companies at the center. You should look for TRUVA, KAMIL KOC or METRO. Get your Coach Ticket to Canakkale from one of these offices. Offices will provide you free shuttle services to the bus station. Buses from Istanbul enters a ferry before arriving in Canakkale. You do not have to pay any extra fare for the ferry. It is all included in the Coach fare. Journey to Çanakkale takes about seven hours. If you arrive in Istanbul Ataturk Airport : Take the light train to ESENLER OTOGAR ( Coach Station) - The cheapest option.you can also take HAVATAS Bus Services to ESENLER OTOGAR. Taxis are availbale but it may be expensive. Get your a Coach Ticket to Canakkale Buses from Istanbul enters a ferry brfore arriving in Canakkale. You do not have to pay any extra fare for

4 the ferry. It is all included in the Coach fare. Journey to Çanakkale takes about six hours. If you arrive in İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport You can get a City Bus the OTOGAR (Coach Station). Get your Coach ticket to Canakkale.Journey to Canakkale takes about five hours.
