3 60-1 CAP Flight Management The practices, procedures and standards in this regulation are Mandatory. Responsibilities of all CAP Personnel regarding CAP flying programs, aircraft and aircrew FAA requirements are Minimum standards In some instances CAP establishes Higher Standards than FAA minimums

4 CAP 60-1 Regulation: Scope CAP 60-1 Applies to ALL CAP aircraft 60-1, 1-1. Aircraft = any Airplane, Glider etc 60-1, 1-3.b. Member Owned or furnished by CAP Corporate Used in a CAP flight activity 60-1 Does not apply to: , 1-1. CAP corporate aircraft flown by CAP-USAF Aircraft released for MX FBO/MX facility Non-CAP member use approved by CAP- USAF/XO Ref: CAPF: 60-1, 1-1, 1-3.b.

6 Prohibited Operations In CAP Aircraft, Don t: Use for Personal Flying Smoke Aerobatic Flight 60-1, 2-1.a-f,l. Spins (except instruction for a flight instructor certificate) Parachute or dropping objects (except to save a life) Formation Flying Night Vision Devices by Pilot Flying, Scanner is OK Hand Prop Start Jump Start from vehicle batteries Charge for Flight Instruction/Checkride

7 Taxi Within 10 Feet of Object Taxi at Slow Walk Behind Aircraft 60-1, 2-2.h. Light Single-Engine 75 Feet behind Light Multi-Engine or Jet 200 Feet Helicopter or Heavy Aircraft 500 Feet

10 Over Water 60-1, 2-1.i,j. Beyond power-off glide Each occupant Will Wear an Individual Flotation life vest Night over-water both front seat crew members must be: CAP qualified Mission Pilots Instrument Qualified and Current Right-Seat Pilot Can be Unqualified in that aircraft

11 Ceiling/Visibility FAR FL 180 Class A - IFR 1000 ft below 5 SM Visibility 1 SM horizontal 1000 ft above Class C, D, E Airspace Class G Above 1,200 AGL 10,000 MSL 3 SM Visibility Class C, D, E Class G - Night 500 ft below 1000 ft above 2000 ft horizontal Class G Day below 1,200 AGL ** Night within ½ mile of Runway 1 SM Visibility Clear of Clouds CAP requires 3 SM visibility on ALL VFR flights unless the PIC is a qualified and current instrument pilot

15 Crew Rest 60-1, 2-2.e. Crew Rest 10 Hours between last official duty and first CAP Duty the next day Includes 8 Hours of Uninterrupted Rest/Sleep Official Duty includes: Refueling Debriefing Uploading imagery Any official business interrupting crew rest

16 Maximum Duty Period , 2-2.d. 14 Hours Maximum Duty Period 9 Hours Flight Time Maximum / Duty Period Both can be Extended: WG/CC or Higher can Authorize 2 Hour Extension Risk Assessment by Commander and PIC Each Member Individually Agrees to Continue or Not

18 Fuel Reserve 1 Hour Minimum at Normal Cruise at Landing , 2-2.i. If IFR Alternate Required, Fuel to Fly to Destination then Alternate with Fuel Reserve at Alternate FAR

19 MX Inspections Annual Inspection - 12 Calendar Months 100 Hour Inspection FAR , CAPF 66-1 Exceed up to 10 hours to be Inspected Transponder Inspection 24 Months FAR IFR Flight Requires: Static System+Altimeters Inspected 24 Months FAR

20 Cadets after Aircraft MX Aircraft will NOT carry CAP, ROTC or JROTC Cadets during the first 10 Tach Hours After: 60-1, 2-3.g. Engine Change Major Overhaul Cylinder Replacement Magneto Replacement

21 VOR Check FAR VOR Check in last 30 days Required for IFR Dual System +/- 4 Don t have Dual VOR: Ground Checkpoint +/- 4 VOT Test Facility +/- 4 (180 with TO indication) Airborne Checkpoint +/- 6 Centerline of VOR Airway, Ground Reference >20 NM away from VOR +/- 6 Annotate Date, Place, Bearing Error, and Sign Aircraft Log

23 Pilot Grounding Pilot Operating a CAP aircraft involved in an incident or accident (Defined by FAA Part 830) Pilot is Automatically Grounded 60-1, 2-3.b. Any CC (SQ to National) or IC can Ground 60-1,2-3.a Wing or Higher Commander to Reinstate 60-1, 2-3.c.

24 CAPF 5 Annual Flight Eval Valid through last day of 12 th Month since last Eval 60-1, 3-1.a-d Example: Last Eval 1 Jan 2015 = Current Through 31 Jan 2016 Checkride Requirements: CAPF 5Q Airplane Questionnaire 60 days prior to Eval Annual CAPF 5 Online Test 60 days prior to EVAL 1 Hour Flight Time and 3 Takeoffs and Landings Abbreviated CAPF 5 to add Endorsement or Model Aircraft No Flight time or landing minimums 60-1, 3-2.

25 Multiple Model Endorsement 60-1, 3-4.a-e. Multiple Model Aircraft Endorsed in One CAPF 5 Eval Previous CAPF 5 or Abbreviated on those Models Current 5Q Aircraft Questionnaire completed on all Models For High Performance Model, Eval Must be in a High Performance For G1000 Model, Eval Must use G1000 Aircraft

27 Instrument Checkout CAP IFR Pilot FAA Qualified and CAPF 5 Eval includes Instrument Note: If you are CAP VFR and get an FAA Instrument, You Need additional CAPF 5 Flight Endorsement to be CAP IFR Pilot 60-1, 3-7.c.

Mission Pilot: CAPF 91 Eval every 24 Calendar Months Mission Check Pilot: Qualified Mission Pilot 25 Mission Sorties (Actual or Training) CAPF 91 Mission Check Pilot Eval every 24 Calendar Months Online Check Pilot Course every 4 Years Appointed as Mission Check Pilot by Wing/Region/National Note: Must be G1000 Qual to administer CAPF 91 in G1000 Aircraft

32 Safety Pilot Safety Pilot is required when Simulated IMC Safety Pilot Must: - FAR c.1-3. Hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate Hold Category and Class Ratings for Aircraft Flown Be at other seat with Fully Functioning Dual Controls Required Crewmember = Current Medical FAR 61.3.c.

33 Safety Pilot Logging Flight Time When Pilot Flying acts as PIC Pilot Flying may Log Pilot In Command Safety Pilot is Required Crew during only SIM IMC Safety Pilot Counts as a Passenger all other Times Pilot Flying must be Current for Landings and IFR (to go IMC) Safety Pilot may Log Second In Command FAR f.2. For Time the Pilot Flying is under Simulated IMC Safety Pilot is Required Crew = Second in Command FAR c.

34 Safety Pilot Logging Flight Time IF Safety Pilot is acting PIC: Both May Log PIC Pilot Flying Logs PIC (As the Sole Manipulator) FAR Pilot Flying can be Non-Current Landings or IFR (Safety Pilot is Acting as PIC) Safety Pilot may Log Pilot In Command (As the PIC) Assumes PIC Duties and Responsibilities for Flight Must be Landing & IFR (For any IMC) Current in Aircraft Is the PIC but Allowing the Pilot in the Left Seat to Fly

35 PIC: Responsibility PIC is Directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of that aircraft FAR 91.3.a. Legally Responsible for Safety Determining Airworthiness of Aircraft FAR 91.7 PIC may deviate from FARs for Emergency Submit written report to FAA (If Requested) FAR 91.3.b,c Deviate for Traffic Alert Advise ATC ASAP FAR c. 36 Flight Currency CAP: Meets 14 CFR Part , 1-3.p. Use FAA Currency, No additional CAP Requirements Landings: to act as PIC with Passengers: Day: 3 TO s and Landings every 90 Days Night: 3 TO s and Landings to a Full Stop every 90 Days Must be from 1 Hr after Sunset to 1 Hr before Sunrise If PIC is Non-Current Landings: Can NOT have another Pilot in Aircraft Other Pilot counts as a Passenger Must Complete 3 TO s and Landings Solo First
