On March 21st Augusta Regional Airport was pleased to announce that US Airways will offer non-stop service from AGS to Reagan National Airport (DCA) in Washington D.C. US Airways will be operating this daily, non-stop service on a 50 - seat regional jet. The flight schedule has been designed to allow passengers to arrive the evening prior to conduct business the next day and return to the airport in time to catch the flight home in the evening. A flight will depart DCA at 4:20 p.m. and arrive in AGS at 6:07 p.m. The returning flight will depart AGS at 6:35 p.m. and arrive in DCA at 8:17 p.m. The first new service flight is scheduled for July 11, Tickets are now available for purchase.

Just because you don t see us doesn t mean we don t see you, said Lt. Steve Johnson, Head of AGS Marshal s Department. We are watching the Airport, inside and out, to help keep all passengers and employees safe. The Airport s Crash Phone is also located within this department. Should there ever be a plane crash or an incident at the Airport this will be the first stop for information. The communication officers will then disperse the information to the necessary outlets. James Brown is on Display at AGS James Brown has held a significant role in American music and in Augusta Georgia.

Augusta Regional Airport staff with the help of Augusta Museum of History Curators, have constructed a display to recognize Augusta s local celebrity, James Brown.

3 James Brown is on Display at AGS James Brown has held a significant role in American music and in Augusta Georgia. Although he was born in Barnwell South Carolina in 1933, James Brown called Augusta home. Mr. Brown seemed to hold a special place in his heart for Augustans. His generosity spread across the CSRA through his numerous donations. One of his most charitable contributions was his annual turkey giveaway. Every year the God Father of Soul would pass out free turkeys to the citizens of Augusta. One year he passed out over 1,000 turkeys himself. Augusta Regional Airport staff with the help of Augusta Museum of History Curators, have constructed a display to recognize Augusta s local celebrity, James Brown. Some personal items are on loan from the Estate of Mr. James Brown. The display holds items such as personal records, shoes, shirts, and even one of Mr. Brown s signature sequined coats. This display is located at the entrance of AGS s main terminal and will remain in the Airport for a year. It is important to us that we recognize local figures in our community said Gary LeTellier, Executive Director. James Brown was a musical icon. We know that many people traveling through his home town would like to see some of his personal items up close. Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) What is a DBE? Who is eligible? There are many questions that arise when you are a small business owner. Augusta Regional Airport is here to help! AGS has a DBE/ACDBE Coordinator on hand to assist you, Mrs. Brenda Brown. What is a DBE? Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program is intended to ensure nondiscrimination in the award and administration of DOT-assisted contracts in the Departments highway, transit, airport, and highway safety financial assistance programs. The goals of the program are to remedy past and current discrimination against disadvantaged business enterprises, to ensure a level playing field in which DBEs can compete fairly for DOTassisted contracts, improve the flexibility and efficiency of the DBE program, and reduce burdens on small businesses. To be eligible for the DBE program, persons must own 51% or more of a small business, establish that they are disadvantaged within the meaning of DOT regulations, and prove they control their business. Construction Update As many of our passengers have noticed, Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) has embarked on many construction projects recently. One of the biggest projects is now complete!

With this renovation, the runway was constructed from concrete rather than asphalt, providing a much longer useful life with a greater weight bearing capacity allowing even the heaviest of aircraft

4 Construction Update As many of our passengers have noticed, Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) has embarked on many construction projects recently. One of the biggest projects is now complete! The Runway renovation that began in July, 2011 was completed January, With this renovation, the runway was constructed from concrete rather than asphalt, providing a much longer useful life with a greater weight bearing capacity allowing even the heaviest of aircraft to land at the Airport. Not only was the project completed on time, it came in $600,000 under budget. Another large renovation currently taking place is the expansion of our parking lots. Both phases of this project are expected to be completed by fall of The project was initiated due to the result of continued growth in passenger traffic at AGS. Currently, the parking areas have only 821 parking spaces, after this expansion, the Airport will have 1,421 spaces! As construction on the long term parking is coming to a close, contractors will soon begin construction on the short term and rental car lots as part of Phase 2. By spring of 2012 the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) facility will be completed.

The building will be directly adjacent to and look much like the main terminal building.

With this renovation project, the building will receive upgrades and the department will be receiving a new, larger, ARFF Vehicle.

5 By spring of 2012 the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) facility will be completed. The construction of the new FBO building includes a 14,000 square foot terminal, new parking for general aviation passengers, and much more! The building will be directly adjacent to and look much like the main terminal building. The Airport s Fire Department is also scheduled to be renovated. With this renovation project, the building will receive upgrades and the department will be receiving a new, larger, ARFF Vehicle. As a result of the citizens vote of the SPLOST Tax, Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, General Perry Smith Parkway will be constructed. This parkway will be a roadway into the southeast quadrant of the Airport. This will allow emergency and airport operations vehicles to access the south side of the Airport. This will also allow for potential future development opportunities.

Mr. Higgins wanted to pay a compliment to management in regards to the helpful attitude and kindness that two Republic Parking employees showed him. He relayed that he had mistakenly parked in the short term lot instead of the long term lot while on his trip to California. Once he realized his mistake, Mr. Higgins contacted Republic Parking and spoke with Joseph. Joseph stated he would not be penalized for his mistake and that the parking fee difference would be adjusted upon his return. Mr. Higgins wanted to point out even though it was a mistake he made, the Republic Parking employees responded with professional and courteous service.
