6 1 OPERATIONS 1.1 Introduction This is the operational section of the SAHPA MOP for the disciplines of Powered Paragliding (PPG) and Powered Paratriking (PPT) and prescribes and expands on the operational standards and procedures for PPG and PPT (to be followed by affiliated members, schools and clubs). These operations are regulated by the South African Civil Aviation Regulations (SACARS) and Technical Standards (SA-CATS) and the SAHPA MOP. From time to time the various CAR Parts are amended and new CAR Parts are promulgated as necessary. SAHPA members are required to have ready access to the appropriate CAR Parts and to ensure that their members are conversant with those Parts, particularly those listed below. Access to the CAA website is deemed to meet this requirement. 7 1.2 Document Reviewers Version 2.6 Revision 1 October 2013 Revision 2 May 2014 Reviewers Mias de Klerk Anthony Allen Keith Pickersgill Anthony Gibson SAHPA membership 1.3 Responsibilities Operational Structure SAHPA acknowledges that the association is based on the principle that its members, clubs, schools and instructor affiliates are responsible bodies. Accordingly, it is SAHPA policy to expect individuals to take responsibility for their flying operations and to conduct such operations with appropriate supervision. SAHPA supervision is in the form of advice and control to the extent necessary to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Where safety is compromised or non-compliance with relevant rules and procedures are not corrected to the satisfaction of the SAHPA committee, the Chairman may take appropriate action against a member of SAHPA in accordance with SAHPA s Memorandum of Incorporation and in accordance with the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (PAJA). Any such action may include reporting the affiliate to the designated body (RAASA) for further action. Within SAHPA there are various levels of operational responsibility and are documented in the governance part and the relevant operations sections of the SAHPA MOP. 9 2 GENERAL OPERATING AND FLIGHT RULES The PPG and PPT Operations Part of the SAHPA MOP sets out operational responsibilities and contains the procedures for all PPG and PPT operations in South Africa. 2.1 General Airworthiness Members shall ensure that their paraglider wing, suspension system and PPG or PPT power unit are airworthy at the commencement of each flight. Maintenance and servicing procedures of PPG/PPT units are part of the PPG/PPT license requirements and each PPG/PPT license holder is therefor responsible for the airworthiness inspection of his own power unit unless otherwise recommended by the unit s manufacturer. PPG/PPT gliders should be maintained and inspected as recommended by the manufacturer of the equipment. Used PPG/PPT equipment that have no CLASS RATING shall not be sold or flown unless a signed airworthiness certificate from a reputable person, or manufacturer is obtained. It is the duty of SAHPA PPG/PPT license holders to encourage and promote good maintenance and airworthiness. Therefor each current PPT/PPG license holder should recommend to the owner of PPG/PPT equipment when maintenance or repairs are required and if necessary notify the club LSO or club committee if any part of PPG/PPT equipment is unfit for safe operation. In this situation the owner of the reported equipment should be notified of the problems and refrain from flying with the reported equipment until the necessary repairs or maintenance has been done and checked by a committee appointed person. 2.2 Local Manufacture and Repairs Home built equipment, equipment that has undergone major modifications or that needed major repairs should be inspected by a PPG/PPT instructor rated pilot or reputable person with knowledge of the work/modification done or equipment in question and issue a signed airworthiness certificate. 2.3 Re-packing of Reserve Parachutes Back-up parachutes for PPG/PPT should be repacked at least annually or in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Pilots may repack their own reserve parachutes but may not repack on behalf of another pilot unless approved by SAHPA or PASA. It is however recommended that only instructors or other SAHPA approved or PASA licensed parachute packers carry out re-packing of reserves. 2.4 Air Navigation Regulations Air Navigation Regulations shall be observed and complied with at all times as

10 applicable to PPG/PPT in the SA-CARS Parts noted in section 1 of this document Type and Class Rating of Hang Gliders, Paragliders and PPG/PPT Definitions " Paraglider" means a non-rigid glider capable of being flown with or without a power unit, with or without undercarriage and capable of at least 5:1 glide ratio without power in stable air as per manufacturer s specifications and recommendations. "Powered paraglider" means a paraglider and the propulsion system or power unit used to launch. Powered and non-powered may include the use of wheels for take-off and landing. PPG means a powered paraglider capable of being footlaunched. (see TYPE 5) PPT means a powered paraglider operated with an undercarriage (see TYPE 6) the instructor or an appropriately rated instructor means a current SAHPA National Flight Instructor rated pilot in the category and type required for the purpose stated. No persons may fly a PPG/PPT in the Republic of South Africa unless they are a member or temporary member of SAHPA and hold the appropriate type licence and rating Type Rating The following are the PPG/PPT Type ratings that fall under the control of SAHPA: TYPE 5 a hang glider or paraglider capable of being footlaunched, and being flown with an engine; a powered hang-glider or powered paraglider. TYPE 6 a powered paraglider operated with an undercarriage Class Rating Not applicable. 2.6 Use and sale of PPG/PPT equipment No members and instructors may allow the use or sale of PPG/PPT equipment to any person, unless the person is: A full member of SAHPA and hold the appropriate licence or is engaged in training towards a specific rating. A student member of SAHPA and is engaged in on-going training towards a license under the direct supervision of an Instructor. A holder of an international license or student license. 2.7 Rules of the Air Open Air Space

11 Gliders on collision courses with other gliders or with any other aircraft shall each turn to the right Ridge Soaring Gliders on collision courses shall turn to the right unless to do so brings a pilot too close to the ground for reasonable safety. In this event only the pilot, who is able to turn right, away from the ground, shall turn Converging Courses When on convergent courses, the aircraft on the right shall yield to the aircraft on the left which has right of way Thermalling Gliders entering a thermal shall circle in the same direction as the first glider to enter the thermal. Gliders with slower climb rates shall give way to gliders climbing towards them. The glider below if entering a thermal simultaneously shall dictate the thermalling direction Approach/Landing Gliders at lower altitudes shall have right of way Overtaking The glider being overtaken shall have right of way. The glider overtaking shall overtake on the right, except when ridge soaring when the overtaking glider will pass between the ridge and the glider being overtaken. Tandems when overtaking, unless while ridge soaring, should overtake on the downwind side of another glider Cloud Flying Gliders shall fly in VMC (Visual Metrological Conditions) and stay clear of clouds below 300m above ground and 150m below any cloud within a lateral distance of 600m which is above 500m above the ground, unless flying is within a specified airspace designated by the local ATSU Night Flying No person shall fly a glider by night unless specific permission is obtained from the relevant designated authority. Daylight hours as defined in the Civil Aviation Regulations shall apply.

12 2.8 Towing rules Boat/Auto/Static Towing with a constant tension device, including fixed line towing, is only allowed with a tension meter or tension gauge or line tension observer, and a device to cut or release the line from the vehicle. Only reliable, tested releases may be used. Operator/Observer triggered guillotine on tow vehicle/winch. It is highly recommended that an infallible weak link be used on pilot end of towline. Weak link to give at 1 to 1.5 times the combined mass of pilot and equipment, including glider. Tow vehicle/winch power source to be reliable and powerful enough to maintain constant line tension. Reliable communication between start point and tow vehicle must exist. Pilot to vehicle/winch is preferable. Towing to be carried out in a suitable environment, i.e. free of obstacles, etc. It is recommended to use a checklist before each tow. Inexperienced pilots to be given thorough briefing and demonstration by suitably experienced pilot and crew. First time tows to be carried out in early morning or late afternoon conditions. It is recommended that the tow system to be approved by a Safety Officer. It is recommended that the tow operator have a airband radio present and tuned to the correct frequency so that all air traffic in the area are kept informed of the towing operation Aero towing Not applicable Towing from airfields Pilots using registered airfields for towing should have at least one operational airband radio in the group with which to warn air traffic in the vicinity, on the appropriate frequency, when winching is in progress. The use of an airband radio requires a restricted radio operator's licence from the relevant authority. 2.9 Tandem flights No person may fly with a passenger without being in possession of a current Tandem rating. Only a current suitably rated instructors, may carry tandem passengers for reward. For training and professional purposes, it is a requirement that the tandem pilot ensures they receive a correctly completed SAHPA approved, signed indemnity from their passenger or student before undertaking flights, and clearly advise them of the inherent dangers of undertaking a tandem flight, further that they are

13 not insured by SAHPA for third party liability unless the required documentation is complete and the prescribed fee paid. Tandem flights should be performed on a suitable manufacturer tandem certified glider, or when flying small passengers a standard non tandem rated glider may be used as long as the combined weight of equipment used, pilot and passenger does not exceed the manufacturer s specified maximum weight range and the glider has no higher than a LTF 2, EN C or equivalent rating. It is the pilot s responsibility to ensure that he/she uses correctly sized helmet and harness for each passenger Instruction and Introduction No person may offer PPG / PPT instruction or introduction courses or flights unless in possession of a current and appropriate SAHPA National Flight Instructor rating. Grade C rated National Flight Instructors do not need to operate within a registered school and may provide instruction on a tandem rated glider as pilot in command for the purposes of familiriasation or introduction so long as they are registered with SAHPA as a TFI, have completed the necessary documentation, comply with the equipment checking policy for tandem equipment used for TFI instruction purposes and the student is not training towards obtaining any licenses or ratings Use of radio communication Notwithstanding CARS (5) PPG and PPT are to fly with aeronautical radiotelephony equipment at all times. Radio users should observe good radio etiquette and procedure at all times. Pilots using airband radios must have attended a SAHPA or CAA approved Restricted Radio Operator's Licence course. Pilot specific call sign is issued by the SAHPA office upon the approval of Type 5 or Type 6 license.

14 2.12 Equipment Helmets Crash helmets shall be suitable for the purpose and fitted with headset and microphone to ensure communication is possible. All members shall wear a crash helmet at all times whilst flying PPG/PPT with the following exceptions, where the wearing of helmets are not mandatory: o For certain type 6 PPT fitted with a suitable pilot restraint system the use of helmets in these cases is not mandatory but it remains recommended Reserve Parachutes All PPG/PPT tandem rated pilots flying tandem at altitudes of more than 500ft above terrain should use a suitable reserve parachute Altimeters It is recommended for navigation and radio communication purposses that a PPG/PPT pilot fly with an altimeter capable of measuring to within 30m, unless such flight is a training flight, skills test or the pilot will not exceed 500ft AGL, unless the site has specific airspace restrictions off less than that. It is every PPG/PPT pilot s responsibility to ensure they remain clear of controlled airspace, irrespective of any altimeter stipulations or requirements unless the necessary permissions were obtained Radiotelephony certificate (RRL) Not withstanding CARS (e), which states that PPG and PPT aircraft are not required to be fitted with radiotelephony equipment the PPT/PPG license applicant must supply proof of attending a SAHPA or CAA approved Restricted Radio Operator's Licence course PPG/PPT power units PPG/PPT power units must have suitably designed seats or harnesses that attach securely to the glider s riser attachment points. The seats or harnesses used in PPG/PPT units must be designed to sufficiently secure the pilot in the seat or harness during flight. All PPG/PPT units must be fitted with a reliable kill switch preferably on the handheld accelerator or within view and reach of the pilot. It is recommended that newly imported or manufactured powerunits be evaluated and tested by a SAHPA appointed person or a Grade A rated National Flight instructor and issued a signed airworthiness certificate.

15 SITE CONTROL 2.13 Control of Sites The flying and discipline at sites in any area shall be controlled by the local Club or Clubs, schools or landowners in accordance with guidelines documented in this MOP, local bylaws, any landowner agreements and the published site rules. A pilot who breaches the rules may be prohibited from further flying at sites in the area pending the outcome of disciplinary action outlined in the SAHPA MOP. Should the pilot not belong to any Club, SAHPA may be approached with a written complaint against the pilot. Where no Clubs are operating in an area, the owner of the site or the local person or pilot dealing with the site, may approach SAHPA with a written complaint against a transgressing pilot. SAHPA Committee may appoint a Safety officer or suitable senior pilot to investigate the allegations and make recommendations for disciplinary actions, where necessary. Access to any site may be controlled by the landowner(s), or their delegates, or a club or person who has negotiated the access with the landowner(s). Site fees, where applicable, can be collected by the landowner, or where a local club has negotiated a deal for their members and/or controls the site, by the Club. Any site fees collected by clubs should be paid to the landowner timeously. Where the landowner controls the access to the site, he will assume responsibility for ensuring that all pilots are licensed, unless he has specifically appointed a local Club or person to assume this duty. All persons or bodies who have site control are duty bound to keep SAHPA informed of any safety issues or ownership changes or fee requirements to allow the SAHPA third party insurance to cover pilots flying at these sites Grading of Sites Not applicable Disagreement on grading Not applicable 2.16 Site Rules Rules at all regular flying sites shall be drawn up having regard for landowner requirements, SAHPA rules and regulations, municipal laws, airspace requirements and general flight safety. These rules should be made available to the flying public by either publishing on the SAHPA website, the Club website, relevant forums or a sign posted on site Site Registration

16 Regular launch sites utilised by members for flying, training and tandem flying are to be registered with RAASA via the SAHPA Office. It is the responsibility of the local Clubs or the landowner to ensure that this information is submitted to SAHPA office. A new site should be registered with SAHPA office within 30 days of being opened as a regular flying site. The following information should be provided: o Contact person for flying at the site o Controlling body or person details o Landowner details o Rules applicable to the site o Grading (not applicable) o Co-ordinates o Should any of the above details change, SAHPA must be informed immediately. A temporary NOTAM valid for 90 days will be arranged by RAASA during the site registration process. It is the responability of the land owner, his appointed controlling person or the local club to ensure any changes to the site registration details are sent to the SAHPA office.

17 2.18 Reputable persons Reputable persons are individuals appointed by the relevant SAHPA committee member or SAHPA regional or club LSO with relevant skills or qualifications acceptable to perform specific tasks for SAHPA and members of SAHPA. This includes maintenance, repair and inspections of paragliders, PPG/PPT power units, suspension systems, harnesses and tow equipment Temporary Student Membership Any person who wishes to participate in any kind of introductory flights or training with an appropriately rated instructor must be registered as a Temporary Student Member of SAHPA. The SAHPA issued Temporary Student Membership Application Form(Form6) must be completed by the instructor or the appointed assistant and the prospective student/passenger. The student/passenger must be made aware of the contents of the course or flight, what will be expected from him/her and the dangers involved. The student/passenger shall have SAHPA membership priviledges and insurance for the date as stated on the Temporary Student Membership Application Form(Form6) for the duration as stated on the Temporary Student Membership Application Form(Form6) A Temporary Student Member shall at all times be under the supervision of the apropriately rated instructor when participating in any form of flying activity

18 3 PILOT LICENCE REQUIREMENTS 3.1 SAHPA Learners certificate Requirements Minimum experience No minimum experience required Learners certificate registration New students training towards a PPG/PPT license need to complete the current version of the Application for SAHPA Learners Certificate form(form1) before starting with a training course and submit it to the SAHPA office within 7 days of starting the training. Only flights and experience obtained while being holder of a valid Learners Certificate will be creditted towards achieving the license requirements Minimum age requirements A Learners certificate and solo training may only commence from the age of 14 and only with written parental or legal guardian consent as per SAHPA MOP, Governance Medical Fitness The medical fitness requirements as stated in the current SAHPA Medical fitness decleration form(form2) need to be complied with and the form completed as required before training may commence and submitted to the SAHPA office with the Application for SAHPA Learners Certificate form within 7 days of starting training Privileges and limitations The holder of a current SAHPA learners certificate may only operate PPG/PPT equipment under direct instruction and supervision of an appropriately SAHPA rated instructor. Only flights and experience obtained under the direct supervision of the apropiately rated Instructor will be creditted towards achieving the license requirements Period of validity SAHPA learners certificate shall be valid for the period stated on the Application for SAHPA Learners certificate form(form1) given that all requirements are met and the students maintains medical fitness requirements Fees SAHPA learners certificate shall only be issued once the fee as prescribed on the Application for SAHPA Learners certificate form(form1) has been paid to SAHPA.

19 3.2 License Category Ratings Type 5 (Powered Paragliding) & Type 6 (Powered Paratrike) License Requirements A Type 5, Powered Paragliding - or Type 6, Powered Paratrike National Pilots license may only be issued to an applicant of 16 years or older. Must have been the holder of a valid SAHPA Leaners Certificate during training and the accumuation of the minimum flight experience. Only experience while being the holder of a current SAHPA Learners certificate and under the supervision of a appropriately rated instructor will be creditted towards achieving the license requirements Application for license The Application for SAHPA Type 5 or 6 Licenses and Ratings form(form3) must be completed and all the requirements as specified on the form met before a license can be issued Theoretical knowledge examination The license applicant must write and pass the Type 5 or 6 License theory test(testa) and the marked test submitted with the Application for SAHPA Type 5 or 6 Licenses and Ratings form(form3) before a license may be issued. The marked test may be remarked or the applicant asked for additional information relating to a question or topic coverred in the test at the discretion of the relevant safety committee members. 20 Learners Certificate as specified in Section 5.1 of this document before commencing training towards a conversion; or in te case of the applicant s membership having expired for a period of more than 24 months, the applicant should fulfil the requirements and/or skill tests as required for the reissue of the previously held license or meet the ab initio requirements as stated above. A minimum of 10 flights under the supervision of an appropriately rated instructor, with the option of 1 being a tandem flight as a passenger with an appropriately rated instructor. Qualifying flights must be logged over a period of no less than 3 training days. Qualifying flights must include at least 2 different take off sites. Complete all the required manuevres as required in the current Application for SAHPA Type 5 or 6 license form and SAHPA Type 5 or 6 Training Proviciency card(form4). In the event of the membership of a Type 5 or 6 License holder is not renewed before the expiry date and/or the minimum flight experience requirements as stated in this section are not met for a period of less than 24 months the renewal applicant should apply for a SAHPA Learners Certificate with a current SAHPA National Flight instructor and then complete the Skills Test as stated in Section Skill Test. In the event of the membership of a Type 5 or 6 License holder having been lapsed for more than 24 months but less than 5 years the renewal applicant should after applying for a SAHPA Learners Certificate with a current SAHPA National Flight instructor:

22 o Complete the Skills Test as stated in Section Skill Test o Acquire a minimum flight experience of 5 flights under the supervision of a current SAHPA National Flight instructor; Licenses lapsed for more than 5 years shall require of the applicant to fulfill all license and ratings requirements from scratch as stated in this document Radiotelephony certificate (RRL) As per Section 2.11 in this document Logging of flight time A current SAHPA License holder shall be creditted for all experience gained on a suitable and airworthy aircraft for which he/she is licensed for and is appropriately rated for. In accordance with CARS 62:03:2 (b)(vi) all SAHPA License holders shall maintain an accurate copy of his or her logbook showing all flight experience and accurately summarized as per Document SA-CATS 62. Any experience and/or flight time acquired on a type aircraft that the pilot is not licensed or rated for must be signed off by the supervising instructor. 3.3 Ratings for special purposes Type 5 & Type 6 Tandem rating; Requirements Holder of SAHPA membership and valid SAHPA Licence for at least 24 months. For Type 5 tandem rating (PPG) a minimum of 100 hours or 300 flights logged on a Type 5 aircraft; For Type 6 tandem rating (PPT) a minimum of 40 hours or 80 flights logged on a Type 6 aircraft; No incidents or accidents displaying negligence or incompetence in the 6 months prior to application; Not withstanding above, 50% of flight experience acquired on any other type aircraft in this category (PPG, PPT) and including Paragliding for which the applicant has valid license and/or ratings for, may be credited towards the requirements for achieving the applicable rating but not exceeding 75% of the minimum required experience as stated in this section. (This means 25% of the minimum required flight experience must be acquired on the Type aircraft for which the rating application is for.) The rating applicant has to register intent with the SAHPA office and apply for the PPG or PPT Tandem Rating Compliance Pack(Form6) before commencing tandem training Application for rating The Application for SAHPA Type 5 or 6 Licenses and Ratings form(form3) must be completed and all the requirements as specified on the form met before a license can be issued.

23 Theoretical knowledge examination All Type 5 and Type 6 Tandem Rating applicants need to complete and pass the Paragliding Sports License Test(TestB) or its approved replacement test. All Type 5 and Type 6 Tandem Rating applicants need to complete and pass the most recent approved Tandem Rating Test(TestC). The Paragliding Sports License Test(TestB) can be marked by any current SAHPA instructor rated member but the Tandem Rating Test(TestC) has to be marked by a Grade A Rated instructor on the particular type as the answers might differ for each type. All completed and marked tests must be submitted to the SAHPA office with the Application for SAHPA Type 5 or 6Licenses and Ratings form(form3) Experience and competency After registerring intent and receiving the Tandem Rating Compliance Pack(Form6) from the SAHPA office a minimum of 10 flights must be flown with other Tandem rated, type specific (Type 5 or Type 6) instructors, of which a minimum of two flights should be as passenger and a minimum of six as pilot in command. All maneuvers and practical requirements as specified in the Tandem Rating Compliance Pack(Form6) must be correctly completed. After the Application for SAHPA Type 5 or 6 Licenses and Ratings form(form3) with the SAHPA Medical Declaration(Form2) and the required theory tests has been submitted to the SAHPA office, the Tandem rating applicant need to do a minimum of 10 flights as pilot in command with other current SAHPA members. All flights and other requirements needs to be completed within a 12-month period Medical Fitness The medical fitness requirements as stated in the current SAHPA Medical fitness decleration form need to be complied with, the form completed as required and submitted to the SAHPA office with the Application for SAHPA Licenses and Ratings form Privileges and limitations Pilots may exercise privileges of licenses and ratings as provided for in the CAR s/cats/mop, provided they have met all the requirements and the license and rating is valid. A tandem rating entitles the nominated holder to fly the applicable class and type aircraft suitable to carry a passenger. A tandem rated pilot shall be permitted to act as pilot in command while carrying a passenger. The pilot may not fly passengers for reward or provide training of any sorts. The holder of tandem rating may only use suitable equipment as specified in the MOP and for which he is licensed to perform tandem flights on. The SAHPA NSTO or National Section representative may under the conditions stated in Addendum 1 Disciplinary Procedures suspend the privileges of membership temporarily for breach or non-compliance to any of the procedures

For the purpose of renewing a tandem rating, only tandem flights will be creditted towards achieving the minimum requirements as stated in the requirements for renewing the appropriate tandem rating Equipment Tandem flights should be performed on a suitable manufacturer tandem certified glider, or when flying small passengers a standard non tandem rated glider may be used as long as the combined weight of equipment used, pilot and passenger does not exceed the manufacturer s specified maximum weight range and the glider has no higher than a LTF 2, EN C or equivalent rating. Tandem flights should always be performed with a motor that has sufficient power to safely launch in the conditions and from the terrain. Tandem flights should always be performed with suitable spreader bars and the correct size passenger harness. Helmets are compulsary for both the pilot and passenger. Due to the added weight, accompanying risk during launch and the manufacturer s specified minimum altitude required to deploy an emergency parachute, the carrying of an emergancy parachute during PPG or PPT Tandem flight is not compulsary and up to the discretion of the pilot. Although, as per CARS (e), PPG and PPT aircraft are not required to be fitted with radiotelephony equipment all PPG and PPT tandem rated pilots shall carry Airband radios and follow accepted radio procedures for the area where the pilot operates when conducting tandem flights.

26 3.3.2 Type 5 & Type 6 Assistant National Instructor Requirements Holder of SAHPA membership and valid SAHPA Licence for at least 24 months. To register as a Type 5 Assistant National Instructor (PPG) a minimum of 100 hours and 300 flights logged on a Type 5 aircraft; To register as a Type 6 Assistant National Instructor (PPT) a minimum of 50 hours and 150 flights logged on a Type 6 aircraft; No incidents or accidents displaying negligence or incompetence in the 6 months prior to application; 50% of flight experience acquired on any other type aircraft in this category (PPG, PPT) and including Paragliding for which the applicant has valid license and/or ratings for, may be credited towards the requirements for achieving the applicable rating but not exceeding 75% of the minimum required experience as stated in this section. (This means 25% of the minimum required flight experience must be acquired on the Type aircraft for which the rating application is for.) Application for rating The rating applicant has to register as an Assistant National Instructor with the SAHPA office and apply for the SAHPA Type 5 or 6 National Instructor Rating Compliance Pack(Form7) before commencing any assistant instructor duties Theoretical knowledge examination No Theoretical exam needs to be completed to register as a Assistant National Instructor Experience and competency Not applicable Medical Fitness The medical fitness requirements as stated in the current SAHPA Medical fitness decleration form need to be complied with, the form completed as required and submitted to the SAHPA office with the Application for SAHPA Type 5 or 6 Licenses and Ratings form Privileges and limitations Pilots may exercise privileges of licenses and ratings as provided for in the CAR s/cats/mop, provided they have met all the requirements and the license and rating is valid. A SAPHA License will only be valid as long as the Medical Fitness requirements are met and valid Skills test Not applicable Fees As per SAHPA membership application form and Part Maintenance of competency No applicable Logging of training sessions The Assistant National Instructor may be credited with any training he/she assisted with at an SAHPA approved training organisation and under the supervision of an apropriately rated National Flight instructor. The Assistant National Instructor should maintain an accurate log of his/her training experience including the names of students,dates when training was conducted, any notes regarding the type of training and signatures of the supervising National Flight Instructor Radio Telephony Equipment As per Section 2.11 in this document.
