3 EXPANDED CHECKLIST DJI MAVIC PRO BEFORE GOING OUT 1. Verify NOTAM - check NOTAMs for the flight area 2. Airspace clearance - check available aeronautical chart for type of airspace and see if clearance is needed - check local instructions if close to an airport 3. Mission accepted by HFO - check for acceptance from Head of Flight Operations for the mission 4. Weather forecast - check TAF and/or METAR or other available metrological data for the time and place of flying 5. Airworthiness - check that the aircraft is sign as airworthy 6. Onboard battery voltage - check that the battery voltage is at least 95 % 7. RC-control battery voltage - check that the transmitter battery voltage is at least 90 % 8. Tablet voltage - check that the tablet voltage is enough for your flight 9. Update firmware - Check for updated firmware for RPA and DJI Go app - Check release notes and consider if the update should be done or not 10. Verify flight plan - check that the flight plan is correct - if applicable, upload the flight plan onto the aircraft 11. Verify geo-fence and fail safes In the DJI Go app, check that these settings are set correct: - return-to-home altitude - maximum altitude (120 m) - distance limit (normally 300 m) - RC signal lost (normally RTH) - Low battery warning - Critical battery warning CLEARED ACCEPTED 12. SD card ready - make sure the SD card has space for the coming data 13. Download map data - download map data over the flight area onto the DJI Go app PREPARATIONS ON TAKE-OFF SITE 1. Weather - visually check the weather for precipitation, visibility, temperature 2. Check area for potential hazards - check area for potential hazards during flight such as animal life, power lines etc. 3. Unload the RPAS - unload the RPA - unfold the RPA s legs - install the propellers - remove the gimbal lock from underneath the RPA DAILY INSPECTION 1. Flight log form - update log with date, time, reg nr, hours since last mayor inspection, weight of RPA, personnel involved, mission desc, wind, temperature, precip, visibility, air pressure, dew point temperature, battery ID, TWR 2. Antenna - check that the antennas is on the correct position on the RC-control 3. Motors - check the motors for damage 4. Propellers - check for damage, that they are fastened and that they rotate freely 5. Fuselage - check fuselage for damage - check that all sensors are unblocked 6. Place onboard battery - place the onboard battery in the fuselage 7. Check CG - check the center of gravity of the RPA 8. Sign log - sign log for daily inspection DOWNLOADED UNLOADED PLACED LOG SIGNED
4 BEFORE TAKEOFF 1. Crew brief - takeoff/landing area - emergency procedures - other 2. Install tablet on RC-control - mount the tablet on the RCcontrol - connect it to the RC-control - check that the tablet has enough battery for the flight 3. Open DJI Go app - Open the DJI Go app on the tablet 4. Power RC-control - power the RC-control - the battery voltage should be at least 90 % - ensure correct mode selected 5. Turn on RPA - Turn on the RPA 6. Initialization - wait while the RPA initializes - check the tablet for notifications 7. Aircraft status - Aircraft battery should be at least 90 % - check that IMU, Compass, ESC Status, Calibration Vision Sensors and gimbal status in Normal - Radio Channel Quality should be Good - Aircraft Battery Temperature should be between 10-40ºC - check that the number of satellites are sufficient 8. Verify waypoint list - if applicable, verify that the waypoint list is correct 9. Camera settings - check the tablet for correct camera settings 10. Update log - update log with battery onboard voltage BRIEFED INSTALLED OPENED ON TURNED ON INITIALIZED TAKEOFF (item 7-9 performed by memory) 1. TWR clearance CLEARED - ensure clearance with TWR if needed - note time of TWR notification in log form 2. Weather condition - visually check the weather 3. Verify mode RC-control - verify mode on RC-control 4. Confirm mode on tablet CONFIRMED - confirm correct mode on the tablet 5. Update log - update log with take off time in log form 6. Surroundings - check the surroundings 7. Arm ARMED - arm the RPA with RC-control 8. Take off TAKE OFF 9. Manual control - check the manual controls (pitch, roll & yaw) at about 20 feets AGL DURING FLIGHT 1. Status - check the tablet for any warnings 2. Signal strength - check the signal strength of the RPA 3. Satellite coverage - check that the number of satellites are sufficient 4. Battery - Monitor the batteries 5. Communication with ATC - Monitor the communication to be updated on the traffic in the area - if applicable MONITORING MINIMUM 40 % MINIMUM 9 MINIMUM 20 % AVAILABLE
5 AFTER LANDING (item 1 performed by memory) 1. Disarm DISARMED - disarm the RPA with RCcontrol 2. Update log - update log with landing time, flight time and battery voltage 3. Turn off RPA TURNED OFF - turn off the RPA with the battery button - dismount the onboard battery 4. Power RC-control OFF - RC-control off 5. Notify Tower NOTIFIED - if applicable 6. Sign log SIGNED - PIC sign log LOSS OF CONTROL 1. Return to Home INITIATED - Switch to RTH and check if RPA is retuning 2. ATTI if RTH not working ATTI - if RTH not working, switch to ATTI mode and return manually - if returning to home seems difficult, land at emergency landing spot 3. Land LAND LOSS OF GPS 1. Mode - switch to ATTI mode 2. Land - land either at home position or emergency landing spot ATTI LAND LOSS OF VISUAL CONTROL 1. Return to home - Switch to RTH 2. Recover visual control - Look out for RPA to regain visual control 3. Assess if aborting is needed - Assess if returning to home and abort mission is needed, of if you can continue with mission - If you continue, make sure you don t lose visual contact again. 4. Assess if informing ATC is needed - Call ATC if there is a chance that the aircraft can come into same airspace as other aircrafts INITIATED RECOVER CALL
