In 2015 Air Canada began flying its new 787 Dreamliners and needed to update their fleet of 777s Air Canada proceeded to undergo an extensive interior refresh to compliment the seats, class style and cabin configuration of the new 787s and to offer a consistent customer experience across their fleet

3 Business Challenge Air Canada required refurbishment of 18 Aircraft: s and s The project included: Existing interior removal Full integration engineering for both aircraft types Reconfiguration of the bins to maximize space IFE installation with STC approval for Panasonic and electrical engineering for GE power panels New flooring, seats, lavatories, galleys and monuments All vertical surfaces re-laminated The customer needed an integrator capable of handling all the reconfiguration engineering required to go from a 2-class to a 3-class interior, as well as manage the coordination of various products from different suppliers and the installation Air Canada needed to find a partner that could handle the volume of work and meet a strict time requirement

The cabin needed seat capacity maximized to fit 400 seats on the s and 300 seats on the HAECO Americas MRO Services began the overhaul project of stripping the airline s interior and prepared to install B/E Aerospace J class seats in the front and economy seats in the back with Recaro seats for premium economy HAECO Americas Cabin Solutions group began manufacturing the Slimline lavs that would be integrated mid-aircraft to maximize capacity To meet the strict timeline HAECO Americas utilized a joint venture agreement with sister MRO in Hong Kong to take on part of the project

HAECO Americas demonstrated that it could efficiently manage multiple products and suppliers across continents to shorten the project timeline HAECO Americas showed the value of having a wide breadth of capabilities and depth of experience in aircraft reconfiguration HAECO demonstrated excellent customer service by shortening the cycle time to below the contracted span time through sharing knowledge and best practices across the MROs as the project progressed What gives me personal satisfaction is that we tackled an extremely complex project, the big parts and the little parts.
