Dependable. 2 Great for a casual flight The cost difference between the 172 and 182 is not significant enough for me to warrant spending significant time in the 172. Good for local flights "undesireable" is age compared to 182s and "SP" you can rent at United Flight Sometimes it is fun to just jump into a simple airplane and tool around. Not personally interested in using the 172

9 Is SWFC your only avenue of single engine airplane flying (recreational)? (choose all that apply) 60.0% 40.0% 30.0% 20.0% 10.0% 0.0% Only fly SWFC aircraft Own my own aircraft in addition to club aircraft Rent aircraft on occasion Fly as a member of another organization (non-paid such as CAP, etc) Other (please specify) Is SWFC your only avenue of single engine airplane flying (recreational)? (choose all Only fly SWFC aircraft 61.9% 26 Own my own aircraft in addition to club aircraft 11.9% 5 Rent aircraft on occasion 21.4% 9 Fly as a member of another organization (non-paid such 9.5% % Individual s Fly friends aircraft I occasionally rent from United Flight Systems but I expect that to stop soon. Recreational and business Also have friends with aircraft. I must always fly with another member who is qualified in the a/c and can always assume pilot in command. My 172 is for sale, will only be flying club single engines. Bay Area aero club member Note: the aircraft I own is tail dragger. Fine for kicking around the pattern, low and slow sight seeing. Then fly the club airplanes if I want to go somewhere (and to stay current in them). Would sell the tail draffer and fly clubs airplane if we have something like a Legend Cub, Citabria, etc.
10 Why are you a member of SWFC and what improvements can the club make? Individual s Cost effective and quality instructors. Improvements: Have had to scrub a flight due to aircraft being unflyable (or some 1 other problem). It happens more than I would like. Certainty of a flight has not been my experience to keep current 2.upgrade aircraft-bigger and faster 3 Flying and learning as well as social aspect of flying club Good people, well maintained aircraft, and great aircraft availability. The monthly meetings shifting to the 2nd or first week of the month would help me. Some of my other hobbies (racing) usually fall on the 3rd weekend almost every month. I love the people and what I learn from them. I would replace the 172 with a LSA as an alternative to my own aircraft and G1000 availability. Great people and great equipment To be around "like-minded" people who share the same love of aviation. I also enjoy the quality of aircraft (especially the two 182's). I needed an affordable, available aircraft for business trips and weekend trips to our ranch. My initial impression is the club is deliberate in its decision making and well run. The most cost effective way to fly. Plus, the comfort in knowing all aircraft are maintained properly. The club needs a new treasurer. All other officers doing a great job. Enjoy flying; have been a member for many years. Would like a 182, non glass cockpit or 182RG Recreational flying Airplanes are well maintained. Very cost effective. As far as any improvement, more training and mentoring for new members. better fuel contract with local FBO based on volume history It is the best deal around and avoids owning your own aircraft. Most economical way to have access to well maintained, current model aircraft. More cost effective than owning, less hassles and commitment that being a partner in an airplane (you can get out easier if things change). My preference on the current 172 would be one of the following: Replace with a 172SP (180 HP and G1000); replace with a Cirrus; or replace with a Legend Cub (get both tail dragger and light sport in one plane, very economical, etc). Able to fly a nicer plane than flying school at a reasonable rate. I enjoy being a part owner of the a/c and the availability. I think we should thoroughly clean the hangars and replace the rugs. We should also closely exam better tugs. Generally for access to better cared for aircraft that I can use as I wish and I do some instruction For access to well maintained aircraft without the hassle of renting. Desire for affordable higher performance cross country airplane.. Club needs to ensure ALL members understand each airplane needs to be flown in complete compliance with the limitations in the POH, including the absolute requirement that the rudder trim indicator be functional or member is subject to citation for careless and reckless operation by the FAA. Perhaps a light multi-trainer such as a Beech Duchess? Thanks Spending time with a group of talented accomplished individuals with a shared interest in fllying. I joined to have access to airplanes without having to rent, as well as the low cost of flying. Also, without paying a fortune it is impossible to rent an aircraft with similar capabilities of the 182s (speed, range, etc). I was also tired of the poor maintenance with rental airplanes and scheduling conflicts. Improvements: stay true to the goals of the club which is to offer economic and safe flying. Rising costs are expected, but at what point does it become less economical to be in the club? Enjoy the benefits of being part of a group to discuss the love of flying. Safe, economical flying. I belong to the SWFC because of the G T's. The adherence to good maintenance, flexible scheduling, no minimums, most cost effective flying. The hangars could use some major renovation. Get rid of the lockers and the carpeting. Paint the floors. I joined because of the ability to fly very well maintained aircraft for a reasonable cost. That cost is going up, as it is everywhere. Enough that I'm questioning whether it is worth it to continue this hobby. I enjoy flying the 172, but do find it to be too slow to make cross country trips realistic. Access to well maintained aircraft at reasonable prices, and to maintain contact with other GA pilots. Planes are well maintained, but hangars could be cleaned out and kept up better. I love our club. Great people. Great planes. Wish I was around more. Off on assignment for a bit. Well maintained, hangered airplanes. Faster more modern airplane, I would love a fast six seater or even faster 4 seater. I think a higher buyin and a lower per hour would better match the economics but I am not familiar with true costs. I like to stay current in GA aircraft. The club is very cost effective, owning is very expensive I love flying the cessna 182 with G1000
