3 Editorial A Steady March towards Excellence Qaid Bin Khalaf Al Otaibi CEO of Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS) By the grace of God Almighty, Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS) has stepped forward steadily with a quantum leap towards distinction. The efforts and contribution however, is not limited to this, as the Company advances its efforts to deliver the strategic plans set out as scheduled. We are also committed to working on developing these plans to the best of our ability and as per the international standards established for ground handling. This only confirms our commitment and position, illustrating that we are well on the way to enter the world of competition. Our company is therefore, characterized by our passion and commitment, as we continue to face challenges in the field of ground handling and air transport services. We are always ready to overcome any obstacles we may face and we hope that in time, everything is more streamlined and hassle-free in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. Based on this principle, our plans and strategies are founded on purposeful activity to better facilitate passengers arriving and departing and to streamline their travel process in accordance with the regulations. We are committed to providing the best quality services at all times, including during busy periods in summer and in Umrah season, where traffic flow at the airport is at its highest. In view of the ratings that we have obtained amongst operating international companies, we request all our employees to continue their diligent efforts in maintaining this reputable position that God Almighty has blessed us with in serving our respected customers. 4 NEWS SGS honors retiring employees Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS) organized a celebration for its retiring employees on April 24, 2015 at the Saudi Airlines Club in to recognize their professional and commendable services. The retiring employees played an important role in serving the company and earned it values of excellence. By Sadiq Ghaithan You will always be remembered : Al-Otaibi During his speech, Mr. Qaid Al- Otaibi, SGS CEO said: We have gathered here today to recognize the contributions of our colleagues who have spent their youth serving Saudi Airlines. Their expertise and efforts have contributed to the establishment of the Saudi Ground Services, one of the largest successful companies in the field of ground and support services for international airlines companies. Great value He added: Dear colleagues, your contribution in serving the pilgrims, thousands of flights, millions of passengers, peak Umrah and Hajj seasons has helped expand the SGS to broader regions within the Kingdom. It has helped the SGS in earning millions of Riyals. Your long and dedicated service to the company has had a considerable impact on members and staff who have a lot of respect for you. Years have passed by, but your dedication, passion and services are well noted. We have successfully opened new branches within the company, introduced new services, collaborated with well-known affiliates and distinguished financial and operational results which are a result of the hard work completed by our team. Your leadership is well noted, and deserves merit. Your service from time-to-time sets unprecedented records of flights and passengers numbers, which sometimes exceeded the capacity of airports and terminals for all airlines. You were one of the pillars that contributed to success of the company with your outstanding services and the infinite support of the chairman, the board members of this company for their loyal employees. There are many challenges that the company will face in the future. These challenges will include using new systems, applying new processes and technologies to compete 4

5 with other companies. However your contribution in helping new employees follow your pathway to success is well noted and valued at the SGS. Each era has its men, and you are the best of them, and in this is life, ones come while others leave. Honoring Moment The celebration began with a speech by, Mr. Haytham Al-Shaabani, followed by a recitation from the Holy Qur an by Mr. Maher Abu Qorsayn. Other speakers included Mr. Qaid Al-Otaibi and the former employee, Mr. Obeidallah Obeidallah. A poem was then recited by Mr. Khaled Al- Otaibi. The celebration concluded with Al- Otaibi and Mr. Talal Abdul Mohen, Deputy CEO SGS honoring the retired employees. 6 NEWS Al-Otaibi reviews summer holiday plans D uring a recent visit to King Abdulaziz International airport on, Thursday 17 Shaban 1415 (June 04, 2015), Qaid Bin Khalaf Al-Otaibi, CEO of Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS) personally overlooked the plans and resources developed to welcome the summer season and the holy month of Ramadan. The plans and resources used focus on the wellbeing of passengers, providing them with the best quality services. They also embody the unwavering and continuous efforts of SGS to achieve excellence in providing the best services available. Al-Otaibi toured the domestic and international arrival and Special candy boxes for passengers The Saudi Ground Service Company will offer passengers on arrival and departure with special candy boxes embellished with the company s logo this summer holiday season. This is a new initiative that has been implemented at all major airports of the Kingdom and will be carried out under the supervision of the Public Relations Department that is led by Mr. Abdullah Iraqi and the Ground Services World magazine, supervised by Mr. Hatem Al-Amoudi. 6

7 departure terminals, the baggage services area, the customer services counters and the special care facilities as part of his unwavering commitment. He urged all terminals managers to ensure that assistants, supervisors and employees are always present at inspection counters to answer customer inquiries, to serve them, as well to supervise and monitor all operating locations especially during peak hour flights. The SGS chief executive also requested to shut-down flights according to regulations and airlines timetable to reduce any waiting periods, thus maintaining nominal operating rates. A request was also put in to ensure direct coordination with private companies executives, supervisors and representatives; especially in circumstances where there are unavoidable delays or unforeseeable situations. Mr. Abdullah Iraqi, Public Relations Manager, Saudi Ground Services Company, stated that the company always strives to develop the best services to passengers when it comes to ground handling. We also strive to help customers overcome all obstacles and to quickly resolve these in accordance with the regulations of the Kingdom, added Mr. Iraqi 7

8 In The Spotlight Achievements of the Safety, Quality, and Security Department The Safety, Quality, and Security Department is an essential part of the Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS) working system, which aims to work efficiently and with full transparency. The following report includes a detailed account of the department: Mr. Khalid Bin Muhammad Al- Ghamari, Acting Director General of the Safety, Security, and Quality Department has highlighted the objectives of the department which: Monitors the quality of service and actual procedures for operational activities; Evaluates the operational activities and; Assesses the quality of services offered by suppliers, operators and service providers. Safe working environment The department carries out an internal and external audit to confirm the service execution is of international standards and is applied to all services. The department also provides a safe working environment to all its employees, properties, equipment and work tools and ensures the security of all sites, employees and property against disruption, vandalism or theft, Al-Ghamari explained Concrete achievements Engineer Muhammad Salim Bin Jahlan, Director of Safety and Security, highlighted the most important achievements of the department in partnering with Saudi airlines to develop a general contingency as well as a war contingency plan. Another key milestone was in updating the emergency plan for the SGS, covering all operational sites 8

9 and utilities. He added that the list of the achievements of the department includes participating in the workshop held under the sponsorship of His Excellency, the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). The workshop explored the different experiences, challenges and solutions as a result of the sandstorm. Moreover, another milestone was accomplished upon receiving the ISAGO certificates and the IATA program for the operational safety audit program which was then adopted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and presented to major terminals. Future Plans Al-Ghamari shed light on some major future plans for the department that included the renewal of the ISO certificate (The quality management systems for the Saudi Ground Services Company). The department will also follow up with the Information Technology Department to complete an audit and risk identification in the Sharepoint System which is exclusive for the company. The department will also launch a safety and awareness campaign to educate employees about the operational and professional safety systems at all terminals. 9

10 In The Spotlight Appreciation for SGS services Over the past few months, testimonials received regarding the performance of the company and its employees have been overwhelming, illustrating the extent of satisfaction from SGS customers, airlines and passengers alike. SGS Directors and staff have all valued the appreciation received for their work and are grateful that their efforts are being noticed and respected. This has led to an increase in staff s efforts to achieve both comfort and satisfaction from their clients which is, ultimately, everyone s goal. Bangladesh Airlines On April 14, 2015, Ahmed M. Dini, SGS Airline Relations Manager FAL, received an endorsement from Bzaloul Kabir Soleimani, Bangladesh Airlines (Biman) Director in. He thanked Munther Sharif, who was recently appointed to oversee the Bangladeshi airlines activities at the terminal. We have noticed a significant improvement in the performance of your company for our flights, and we wish you further success, Bzaloul said. Gulf Air On April 15, 2015, Gulf Air Director in, Ahmed Abdo Hassan, sent a testimonial to Abdulaziz Al-Khelaifi, SGS Deputy General Manager FAL, Director. Abdo Hassan conveyed his appreciation for SGS employees at the King Khaled International Airport in. He commented on their services offered during the sand-storm that blanketed in early April that led to the delay and cancellation of some flights. Afghani Airlines On April 16, 2015, Muhammad Asghar, Director, Safi Airways - the Afghani airlines - at terminal sent a testimonial to employee Ramzi Azhari who helped the Afghani airlines take off on time, despite the challenges including heavy volumes and large crowds at the airport. British Airways On April 19, 2015, British Airways Director of Customer Relations, Zeeshan Rida in, sent a testimonial to 10

11 Ahmed Dini thanking the SGS for offering praise-worthy assistance in solving problems the airlines flight BA132 faced on April 10. Following the absence of the assistant captain, the SGS staff successfully managed to find a replacement captain from the Saudi Arabian Airlines. Zeeshan has also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Nizar Hassan Sulenji; Ramzi Abdullah Sulaimani; Amin Al-Awafi; Mohammad Al-Khodari (Dammam terminal); Muhammad Kaleem Hassan; Counter Supervisor Aqeel Ahmed; Counter officer Muhammad Al-Harbi; Farouq Shahrazad; Vivek Balone; Test Ssanka; Yousef Bani; Ahmed Younis Hawsawi, and Crew Supervisor Salem Al-Kuthairy. Jet Airways On April 20, 2015, Abid Hussain, Director, Jet Airways at King Fahd International Airport, Dhahran, sent a testimonial to Waleed M. Al-Jalal, SGS Passenger Care Manager, requesting the latter to convey his appreciation to Hussein Al- Qahtani and his team for their outstanding and consistent work for taking special care of nine passengers of the Jet Airways on April 1 and 2 during the sandstorm. Moreover, on April 16, when counters system faced a problem, Al- Qahtani and his team deployed their utmost efforts to complete all procedures on time despite many scheduled flights. Abid Hussain also pointed out the presence of Jet Airways general manger at the airport who expressed his admiration for the efforts put in 11

Turkish Airlines Turki Abdel Rahman, Assistant Director of Turkish Airlines at Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Madina sent a letter of thanks to Rashad Bahoeini, Deputy General Manager, Madina station. On behalf of the airlines Abdel Rahman thanked Bahoeini and his team for completing all the formalities of Turkish Airlines between April 18-20, without causing any significant delays in any of the scheduled trips Muhammad Al-Ansari, Deputy Director of Pilgrims Lounge also sent an endorsement to the employees of the pilgrims lounge at the SGS. He applauded the work of the SGS team for its excellent and prompt services to seven pilgrimage flights of the Turkish Airlines on April 25, Egypt Air On April 22, 2015, Salman Al-Omari, Deputy Manager of station, sent a letter to Ahmed Al Rayes, Director of station requesting him to attach a certificate of appreciation to employee, Idris Musa Hussein. Mr. Al-Omari wanted to recognize him for his good work and also included a certificate of appreciation for this employee from Egypt Air. Middle East Airlines On April 24, 2015 Muhammad Khan, the Alternate Director of Middle East Airlines (MEA) in thanked Al-Omari and SGS staff for cooperating with MEA, especially to flight MEA 365 on May 8 after changing the aircraft from AB 330 to two other planes, AB 320. He praised the dedication of the team under the management of Supervisor Khaled Al-Ayoubi, in completing the formalities of both planes on time. Khan also conveyed his appreciation for Al-Ayoubi; Youssef Bini; Hassan Juhadleh; 12

13 Nader Al-Sharif; Salman Alchehri; Siraj Al-Muhammadi, and Naim Al-Muhammadi. Qatar Airways On May 3, 2015, Qatar Airways Services representative in Madina, Iftikhar McCain, sent an endorsement to the airlines Relations Director at Madina station, Abdul Rahman Yunus, expressing his appreciation for Khalid Khurshid and his team. Khalid and his team organized a VIP reception for the passengers on board, Qatar Airways flight QAR 1176 on May 2. He also praised them for their outstanding and special performance towards all guests. Pakistan International Airlines On May 10, 2015, Nadim Shakour, Director, PIA at Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madina sent a testimonial to Rashad Bahoueini, Deputy General Manager at Madina station thanking the SGS, especially employee Bandar Hjory for his dedication to complete all procedures of PIA flights which helped flights take-off on time. Fly Dubai Berdiepo Rijoda, Supervisor, Fly Dubai at King Abdulaziz International Airport,, sent a testimonial to Abdullah Al-Ballouchi, to thank the SGS for its services to flight FZ 7482 on May 16 in completing the boarding procedures for 115 passengers who had arrived just 25 minutes before the takeoff. The flight departed on time. Rijoda specifically thanked Farouk, the Alternate Director; Faisal the Area Supervisor; Counter Supervisor Muham- 13

Indonesian Airlines Salman Al-Omari sent a letter to Ahmad Al-Rayes, the Station Manager, with a Certificate of Appreciation attached from Indonesian Airlines directed towards employee Idris Musa Hussein for his outstanding performance. Air India Feroz Islam Khan, Station Manager, Air India at King Abdulaziz Interntional Airport, sent a letter of appreciation to Salman Al-Omari. Khan praised the SGS staff performance for supporting the disrupted Air India flight AI 932 on May 23. Al-Omari was assisted by supervisor Mazen and Alternate Director Junaid, apart from staff Raymond; Khalil; Tangel; Shafiq Marlabi, and those who took care of passengers, and found technical solutions to the stalled plane crisis. Tribute On May 29, 2015, Rashad Bahoeini, Deputy General Manager, Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Madina sent a letter of appreciation to all employees of the foreign airlines services at the Madina terminal. He stated: We thank Almighty Allah for our dedicated services to SGS customers. This dedication reflects the honorable image of our company, and particularly the services to foreign airlines in Madina. I am, therefore, pleased to extend to you all my sincere appreciation for your dedication and loyalty with all my best wishes for all. On May 7, 2015, Waleed M. Al-Jalal, SGS Passengers Care Manager at Dhahran, received a letter from one of the passengers on Flight 1127 (Dammam - ), praising employee Meshal Al-Farhan. What pleased us in some flights is having employees such as Brother Meshal Al-Farhan, for his ethics, morals, good handling and logic. He also facilitated my cargo affairs and completed all procedures with a smile. I have special needs and I visit a lot of airports. I think all deserving people should be thanked. 14
