27 FAR 27 TC Project Slide Composite title Helicopters announced in February 2015 After the overwhelmingly positive response to the company s EvoStrength(TM) technology, Composite Helicopters International is pleased to announce its intent to certify its composite helicopters and has filed the Type Certification application with the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority. This signals the end of phase one of the development program. Two models have been proposed: The entry level helicopter, the KC630 with an RR300 engine in an executive five seat configuration, and The high-powered, high-altitude model, the KC650 with a LTS101 engine in a utility six seat configuration.

The was the first aircraft where Air New Zealand was the launch customer, and NZ Type Acceptance effectively paralleled FAA Type Certification Great opportunity for the CAA to witness and have some involvement in a Part 25 Type Certification program. Fascinating to see the Boeing/FAA juggernaut in action.

33 Nextant 400XT Slide The Nextant title 400XT is a Beech 400A which has been updated by Nextant Aerospace with the installation of two major STCs. One to fit Williams FJ44-3AP turbofan engines One to upgrade the avionics to Collins Proline 21 Type Acceptance based on Beech 400 TC plus FAA STCs Beech initially refused to support the Type Acceptance application because the Nextant was considered a competitor to their 400XPR upgrade project Type Acceptance forced to proceed on the basis of acceptance of the Nextant 400XT as a specific aircraft configuration Equivalent OEM support required to be provided by Nextant

37 EASA Slide Provides title for the acceptance of production of products, parts and appliances by foreign manufacturers who hold an EASA TC but no POA if: - There is no BASA in force; and - Not a complex motor powered aircraft * Where EASA has verified the State of Manufacture has the same independent level of checking of compliance as provided by Part 21. *This term is defined in EASA Basic Regulation and means jet engine aircraft, multi-engine turboprop, or multi-crew cockpit

38 FAA Slide CAA had title previously requested an expansion of the scope of the IPA to include FAR 27 STC Five helicopter STCs had been submitted to the FAA for review The FAA Rotorcraft Directorate had indicated that the review of the STCs was satisfactory Current status was that the actual wording of the IPA change was under development by the FAA

39 FAA Slide Since then title the CAA has applied to include full FAR 27 type certification, and has proposed the Composite Helicopters KC630 as a full FAR 27 shadow certification candidate Initial FAA response was favorable Would require a Memorandum of Understanding to cover the provision of technical services MoU would set out the basis for the provision of technical assistance It is hoped to have further discussions with the FAA at the next Asia Pacific Bilateral Partners meeting in Hong Kong in April 2015
