The Jacksonville Amtrak station is located 20 minutes north of Downtown, on the city s northside. Access by Car Jacksonville is at the crossroads of two major Interstate Highways 95 (north/south) and 10 (east/west) and four U.S. Highways 1, 17, 90 & 301. The Metropolitan area is served by an efficient network of thoroughfares, including interstate 295 and Highway 9A, which circles the city and connects I-10 and I-95. Jacksonville is 130 miles from Orlando and 345 miles from Miami. In-Town Travel The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) provides local bus service seven days a week. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) operates the Automated Skyway Express, a monorail system serving the Downtown area. It crosses the St. Johns River and provides accessible transportation to the Prime Osborn Convention Center. Downtown is served by a trolley system, a complimentary network which stops near performing arts facilities, restaurants and other locations throughout Downtown, Monday through Friday. The Riverside trolley connects Downtown to this historic neighborhood with attractions, shopping and dining. Water taxi service connects the Northbank and Southbank in Downtown Jacksonville. Service is available during special events to the Jacksonville Sports Complex. The JAXPORT St. Johns River Ferry is an auto ferry between Mayport and Fort George Island. Mayport offers access to the beaches communities and Fort George Island is boasts outdoor activities and historical attractions. The ferry crosses the St. Johns River about 2.5 miles inland of the river's mouth. The ferry has been in continuous operation since Flying Time (Hrs)
