START DAY: Every Monday & Saturday Day 1: Arrive Manado Tomohon (D) Meet and greet at Sam Ratulangi International Airport. You will be transferred to your preferred resort in Tomohon, up on the highlands. Tomohon s biggest attraction is the stunning scenery as it lies near two volcanoes; Mt. Mahawu and Mt. Lokon. Rest of the day is free to explore the surrounding area of this city. Day 2: Mahawu Volcano Trekking & Minahasa Highland Tour (B, L, D) Visit the traditional food and flower market in Tomohon before heading to Mahawu Volcano. Begin with a 30-minute walk to the crater s edge. From that vantage point you can see Bunaken and Manado Tua Islands, as well as the bay of Manado. At the bottom of the crater, one can observe a steaming lake and experience the smell of sulfur from the pools. After lunch, travel to Pulutan Village, a cottage industry for pottery-making and walk through the rice plantations. Before returning to the resort, visit Ranopaso hot springs and enjoy the natural scenery. Day 3: White Water Rafting & Minahasa Highland Tour (B, L, D) The first stop is Pagoda Ekayana in the village of Kakaskasen, a place of worship for the Buddhists and admire its architectures that blends with the surrounding nature. It is time to experience one of the most spectacular and thrilling adventure - white water rafting. After fitted your gear and briefing, the journey down the river will take about one and a half hours. Every raft can hold up to six persons including an experienced guide. After the wet and wild experience, visit the benetenan weaving workshop and see the local weaving traditions being practiced. Lunch at Lake Linow, a color-changing lake and then visit Woloan Village to see the Minahasan Houses. The houses are built by skilled local carpenters using traditional methods and hard wood, so that the houses are sturdy and well built. Despite its strong structure, the houses can be easily knocked down for relocation. Day 4: Kali Waterfall & Tangkoko Day Tour (B, L, D) Head to Kali Waterfall, en route discover a rural village and enjoy a scenic walk to the two falls. Be ready to get wet as the force of the waterfall is pretty intense, causing the mist to spray at a distance. Continue the tour to Tangkoko Nature Reserve and be guided by a forest ranger in search of the macaca nigra (black crested macaques), hornbills, couscous, tarsier spectrum, one of the world s smallest primate. Experience dinner at one of the local homestays near the nature reserve. (Day 3 and 4, wear sneakers or hiking boots as it is quite slippery. Bring a change of clothes, T-shirt and shorts) Day 5: Depart Manado (B) At leisure until your transfer to the airport for your return flight.
