1 OUR BUSINESS Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, was set up by Royal (Amiri) Decree in July Etihad Airways commenced operations in November 2003, and in 11 years has become one of the fastest growing airlines in the history of commercial aviation. This airline has received a range of awards that reflect its position as one of the world s leading premium airline brands, including World s Leading Airline at the World Travel Awards for five consecutive years. Its main business is the international air transportation of passengers. Etihad Airways also operates Etihad Cargo, Etihad Holidays and Etihad Airport Services, as well as managing a global loyalty program and other aviation and non-aviation related businesses. Q AND 2013 COMPARISION Key Indicator Q Q Variance Total revenue (US$ B) % Partnership revenue (US$ M) % Passengers (M) % ETIHAD AIRWAYS REVENUE INCREASES 29 PER CENT IN Q Etihad Airways has reported total revenues of US$1.8 billion for the third quarter of 2014, an impressive increase of 29 per cent year-on-year, achieved on the back of accelerated passenger and cargo growth during the summer. A total of 3.9 million passengers travelled with Etihad Airways between July and September this year, 30 per cent more than the three million passengers from the same period in Etihad Cargo also outperformed the global market, carrying 144,498 tonnes of freight and mail during the third quarter, a year-on-year increase of nine per cent, on only one per cent capacity growth. The growth in passenger demand and revenue during the three month period once again outstripped the airline s capacity intake, highlighting the strength of its long-term growth strategy. Etihad Airways remains on track to achieve its strongest ever annual results, having carried 10.5 million passengers and almost 415,000 tonnes of cargo between January and September Organic growth was supported by codeshare and equity alliance partnerships in the third quarter of 2014, delivering an estimated 1.1 million passengers onto Etihad Airways flights (+41 per cent year-on-year) and contributing revenue of US$352 million, which represented 27 per cent of the airline s passenger revenue. The first group initiative to be organised under ivolunteer was the participation in a community support activity in Abu Dhabi using funds donated directly by the airline. Fifty volunteers from the program donated their spare time to shop for gifts which were distributed to 330 women living in a workers community.
