3 FALCON SMART PROGRAMS Falcon Elite II Revision: March 2014 Safety & Situational Awareness SmartRunway Runway Awareness and Advisory System (RAAS)* Improved Operational Safety and Situtational Awareness are at the heart of Falcon Elite II s new features. SmartRunway provides timely positional advisories and aural alerts during taxi, Take-Off, final approach, landing, and rollout. Benefit: Significantly reduces the risk of runway incursions and excursions. * In Development Approaching Zero Seven right 1 Display Unit DU- 875 DU-875 liquid crystal display (LCD) opens the door for features like XM Weather, Jeppessen Charts, video and more. 7 B acklit LCD screen Weighs less than previous displays More reliable and less maintenance required than previous displays Minimal pilot training required Increases aircraft safety DL-1000 Data Loader The DL-1000 data loader uses USB 2.0 technology to upload aircraft, navigation, and custom databases as well as aeronautical charts and maps. 2 On runway Zero Seven right Uses USB 2.0 technology (1GB or larger) Databases can be uploaded Uses the existing aircraft wiring
4 FALCON SMART PROGRAMS Falcon Elite II Revision: March 2014 Dual Jeppesen Charts With this option, the charts database is stored in the MFD, bringing the number of data sources up from one to four. Navigation Falcon Elite II provides significantly more approach options to airports across the US and Europe, enabling operators to execute their flight plans in adverse weather conditions while increasing pilot situational awareness. Provides redundancy for the use of the electronic Jeppesen charts meaning that the flight crew now has four different sources of the data instead of just one I mproves the speed at which the charts can be accessed and displayed for the flight crew allowing more time to make split second decisions during typically heavy workload times in the cockpit. XM Weather in the Multi-Function Display (MFD) This option provides the flight crew with superior weather information (US coverage only) to optimize the route according to operational constraints, significantly improving passenger comfort. It receives XM broadcast graphical weather for enhanced operational efficiency and smoother flights. Information is automatically updated and stored and then is always available for display. The drop down Weather menu is used to easily and quickly select each XM product as an INAV overlay. Contributes to passengers comfort C ontributes to time and fuel savings. XM graphical information available include: NEXRAD (precipitation return) Satellite imagery Winds Aloft, Storm tops Lightning Clear Air Turbulence Echo Tops Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) Airmets - AIRman s METeorological Information Sigmets - SIGnificant METeorological Information CONUS (radar coverage status) Flight Management System (FMS) 6.1 The IC-810 FMS 6.1 provides better access to more airports, increased safety, reduced crew workload and significant operational efficiency improvements for operators. WAAS/LPV Approaches Required Navigational Performance (RNP 0.3) VNAV Temperature Compensation Vectors-to-Final Approaches Circle-to-Land Procedures Benefits contd.: Updated TOLD database compatible with Automatic Bleed Override Controller (ABOC) (F900EX only) Multiple RNAV Approaches to the Same Runway End Enroute Holding Paterns Automated Hold-to-Altitude (HA) Leg Sequencing Optimized Heading-to-Altitude & Heading-to-Intercept (VA/VI) Combinations FANS 1/A+ integrated messaging capable
5 FALCON SMART PROGRAMS Falcon Elite II Revision: March 2014 Localizer Performance with Vertical (LPV) Approaches Enhanced NAV with Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) & Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance (LPV) GPS Satellites Standard GPS Satellites Barometric Vertical Navigation (VNAV) Temperature Compensation This option allows an automatic adjustment of all altitude constraints in departures and approaches. Missed approaches are compensated for in extreme temperature conditions by ensuring a correct vertical clearance with obstacles. Gives access to LNAV-VNAV minima in extreme temperature conditions Improves safety and situational awareness through increased precision to FMS vertical navigation GPS corrections Ground station Wide Area Master Station Wide Area Reference Stations non ILS runways Circling Approaches in the Navigation Database Circling approaches can be retrieved from the FMS navigation database, even when not related to a given runway. SW-3, 14 NOV 2013 to 12 DEC 2013 SW-3, 14 NOV 2013 to 12 DEC 2013 Benefit: Reduces Crew workload as the approach and missed approach waypoints are now automatically populated by the FMS. LPV provides significantly more approach options to airports across the US and Europe, enabling operators to execute their flight plans in adverse weather conditions while increasing pilot situational awareness especially in adverse weather conditions. This feature offers lower minimums than standard RNAV (GPS) approaches, near ILS Category I minimums with no ILS on the field. The capability proposed is compatible with the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), as well as the European Geo Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS) and is expected to also be compatible with other future Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS). As of today, more than 3000 LPV approaches are published in the USA and many more are on the way. Similar approaches are also being published in Europe (France, Switzerland, UK, Germany ), since EGNOS Service of Life was declared operational (2011). Falcon Elite II provides a unique design, intended to maximize commonality with ILS or standard RNAV approaches, and therefore eases pilots transition to this new type of approach. Gives access to more airports, providing more landing options on airports with limited ground infrastructure Becomes a standard in the USA Increases aircraft value. Updated TOLD Database (Falcon 900EX only) The Take Off and Landing Distance (TOLD) database is updated to include the Automatic Bleed Override Controller (ABOC) configuration.
6 FALCON SMART PROGRAMS Falcon Elite II Revision: March 2014 Surveillance Surveillance is the key driver to improve predictability, safety and airspace system capacity. With Falcon Elite II you will take advantage of the latest technological improvements available today. Communication Falcon Elite II introduces new data communications capabilities between the aircraft and Air Traffic Control (ATC). FANS 1/A+ DataLink (CPDLC & ADS-C)* Falcon Elite II introduces new ATC data communication capabilities on remote and oceanic routes, supporting both CPDLC and ADS-C services available in FANS 1/A+ airspaces. While CPDLC replaces standard voice communications through HF, the ADS-C allows the aircraft sending automated position reports as required by the ATC. Teamed with the aircraft navigation performance, these capabilities support reduced aircraft separations on high-density FANS 1/A routes. Optimizes airspace occupancy and contributes to reduce flight time with preferred, more direct routing, facilitating time and fuel savings Improves oceanic communications over the existing HF. * In development. ATN-B1 DataLink (Protected Mode CPDLC)* RF=Retrofit FF=Forward Fit FL=Flight Level ADS-B Out It supports future mandates for new aircraft and for retrofit. This option is fundamental to the future Air Traffic Management (ATM), as a further step after Elementary and Enhanced Surveillance. Benefits for ADS-B Out and ADS-C: Allow better ATC management of airspaces Support aircraft reduced separation in dedicated airspaces. ADS-C (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract)* Part of FANS 1/A+ This permits, upon request from the controlling ATC center, to automatically send aircraft reports to the ATC through the DataLink. These reports include information related to the aircraft position, velocity and intent as well as weather conditions. They can typically be contracted by the ATC when flying over remote areas, while the aircraft is no longer under radar coverage, and are a substitute to standard position reports through HF. * In development. The ATN-B 1 capability supports the Protected Mode Controller Pilots DataLink Communications (PM CPDLC) mandated by the European Commission in the European Airspace. This specific High Speed VHF DataLink is already operative over the Karlsruhe, Maastricht and Swiss airspaces, and will further expand over Europe in the coming years. * In development. Reduces the risk of ATC communications being impaired by VHF saturation in highly populated airspaces Allows operators to comply with the latest European regulations. CMU Mark III The CMU Mark III is the latest Honeywell airborne communications router that supports data link service access between aircraft data link applications and their corresponding ground service providers. This includes Aeronautical Operational Communication (AOC), Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS). The CMU Mark III is based on ARINC 758. The CMU Mark III also functions as an ARINC 724B compatible data link router using the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) network. Access to the ground network is accomplished by the following links: Satellite communications (SATCOM) Very High Frequency (VHF) High Frequency (HF) Ultra High Frequency (UHF)
