4 4 No GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 21 FEBRUARY 2018 General Notices Algemene Kennisgewings Transport, Department of/ Vervoer, Departement van DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT NOTICE 75 OF South African Civil Aviation Act (13/2009): Publication for comments on members eligible for appointment to the Board of the Civil Aviation Authority tz4ve transport Department: Transport REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA PUBLICATION FOR COMMENTS ON MEMBERS ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF THE CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY The Civil Aviation Authority is a national public entity established in terms of the South African Civil Aviation Act, 2009 (Act No. 13 of 2009). Its mandate is to control and regulate civil aviation safety and security; oversee the implementation and compliance with the National Aviation Security program; oversee the functioning and development of the civil aviation industry; promote civil aviation safety and security; develop regulations that are required in terms of the Act; and monitor and ensure compliance with the Act and the international Aviation Conventions. The Civil Aviation Act makes provision for appointment of the Board to provide, amongst others, the strategic direction and oversee the corporate governance of the Authority in order to attain the mandate. The purpose of this notice is to request public comments on the eligibility of each of the following members for appointment to the Board of the Civil Aviation Authority- Mr Smunda Mokoena, Ms Tshitshi Phewa, Ms Lizeka Dlepu, Prof. Ntombizozuko Dyani -Mhango, Mr Surendra Sooklal, Mr Mongezi Gladstone India, Mr Ernest Khoza, Dr. Gladys Nethengwe, Mr Phalane Baresi and Dr. Brian Charles Suckling. Comments on the above list must be forwarded to: The Director -General, Department of Transport, Private Bag X 193, Pretoria, 0001, for the attention of Mr Simon Maluleka, Deputy Director: Governance, Fax (012) , E -mail: MalulekaScdot.gov.za. To all suppliers and potential suppliers of goods to the Government Printing Works The Government Printing Works would like to warn members of the public against an organised syndicate(s) scamming unsuspecting members of the public and claiming to act on behalf of the Government Printing Works. One of the ways in which the syndicate operates is by requesting quotations for various goods and services on a quotation form with the logo of the Government Printing Works. Once the official order is placed the syndicate requesting upfront payment before delivery will take place. Once the upfront payment is done the syndicate do not deliver the goods and service provider then expect payment from Government Printing Works. Government Printing Works condemns such illegal activities and encourages service providers to confirm the legitimacy of purchase orders with GPW SCM, prior to processing and delivery of goods.
