STAGING & AIR TRAVEL TO THE GAMES VANCOUVER DEPARTURE Team BC has chartered four Boeing 737 airliners from Air North to fly everyone to Toronto and back. Two flights depart Vancouver on Friday, July 14th and the other two depart on Saturday, July 15th. DEPARTURE LOCATION All flights will depart from and return to the South Terminal of YVR Vancouver International Airport. South Terminal 4440 Cowley Crescent, Richmond, BC, V7B 1B8 V7B 1B8 PARKING There is pay parking around the South Terminal. Parking varies from $9.00 to $12.00 per day.

SOUTH TERMINAL Upon entering the South Terminal, look for the Air North desk. It is a small terminal, so it should not be hard to find. CHECK IN The Air North desk will be manned approximately 2 hours prior to departure. Please be at the Terminal 90 minutes (1.5 hours) before you flight departure time. All passengers must present 1 piece of government issue photo identification (driver s license, passport, status card) All checked baggage MUST have a baggage tag attached to it. This tag must have the athlete s FIRST and LAST NAME, SPORT and ATHLETE VILLAGE on it. This is because Team BC baggage may get mixed together with other team s baggage upon arrival in Toronto.

Boarding begins approximately 20 minutes before departure Each passenger is allowed: 1* checked bag (approximately 30 lbs.**) 1 carry-on bag (approximately 15 lbs.) 1 personal item (purse, laptop bag, etc.) *Coaches and managers are permitted extra baggage for team equipment **These restrictions are guidelines and may not apply to teams that have excessive equipment Only light snacks and beverages will be served aboard the plane. As the flight is over 5 hours it is recommended that passengers bring some food with them or eat prior to boarding. Water bottle restrictions do not apply to the charter flight. COURTESY SHUTTLE Passengers flying to Vancouver and arriving at the Main Terminal can catch a courtesy shuttle to the South Terminal. This shuttle can be found on Level 2 outside the Domestic Arrivals area (basically behind baggage carousel 6). The shuttle runs every 20 minutes starting at approximately 7:00 AM and continuing until 8:15 PM on Friday and 6:30 PM on Saturday. There are also taxis that can bring passengers to the South Terminal. VANCOUVER FLIGHT DEPARTURES Vancouver (YVR) to Toronto (YYZ) Flight # Date Check-In Departure Arrival AN Jul-17 8:00 AM 9:30 AM 5:00 PM AN Jul-17 9:30 AM 11:00 AM 6:30 PM AN Jul-17 8:00 AM 9:30 AM 5:30 PM AN Jul-17 11:00 AM 12:30 PM 8:00 PM *all times are in LOCAL time (.i.e. departure is in Pacific and arrival is in Eastern Standard Time)

TORONTO ARRIVAL LOCATION When Team BC Chartered flights get to Ontario they will be landing at Signature Flight Support at YYZ Toronto Pearson International Airport. Signature Flight Support is a small private terminal at the North end of Pearson Airport. It is not attached to the Main Terminals, in fact it is several kilometers away from them by car. When Team BC returns back to Vancouver, they will depart from Signature Flight Support as well.

TORONTO FLIGHT DEPARTURES Toronto (YYZ) to Vancouver (YVR) Flight # Date Check-In Departure Arrival AN Jul-17 2:00 PM 3:30 PM 5:56 PM AN Jul-17 10:00 PM 11:30 PM 1:30 AM AN Jul-17 1:00 PM 2:30 PM 4:56 PM AN Jul-17 2:30 PM 4:00 PM 6:00 PM *all times are in LOCAL time (.i.e. departure is in Eastern and arrival is in Pacific Standard Time) VANCOUVER RETURN All chartered aircraft will return to the South Terminal exactly like their departure. Aircraft that arrive after hours will be allowed to use the South Terminal, but friends and family there to meet them will not be able to enter the terminal and will have to wait outside until passengers leave the building. Please remember to pick up your baggage when you return! Team BC will make every effort to return lost baggage to owners but is ultimately not responsible for any lost or misplaced baggage.

TRAVEL TIPS NUTRITION ON THE ROAD BEFORE YOU TRAVEL: Plan ahead so you can be well rested and prepared for your trip Pre-hydrate 2-3 days before you travel DURING THE TRIP: Set your watch to the new me zone when you get on the plane Hydrate by drinking plenty of water or herbal tea. Bring a water bottle to fill up once you are through security. Eat light and healthy with a focus on fruits, vegetables and healthy snacks while travelling Wash your hands every 1-2 hours and before eating Get up, stretch your legs and walk around on the flight to prevent blood from pooling in your legs ON ARRIVAL: Do light exercise as soon as possible Live by the local time in your new location Avoid daytime napping to assist in adjusting to the new time zone IN YOUR CARRY-ON REMEMBER TO PACK: Snacks that are high in fiber and low in fat. Bring extra in case the in-flight meal is not adequate or there are travel delays Ear plugs, masks and pillow will help you have a better nap en-route Saline nose spray helps keep the mucous membranes moist and minimizes respiratory infections Toothbrush and toothpaste Any medication you might need during your flight and travel time STAY HEALTHY ON THE ROAD: Reaching for food? Reach for soap and water or hand sanitizer first. Hand-washing means rubbing soaped hands for at least 20 seconds don t forget under your nails. Avoid water bottle and/or utensil sharing. Take foods from the bottom of buffet food trays; hot foods should be piping hot and cold foods from a cooler should be cold to the touch. Never try new foods or drinks before a competition. If you start to feel ill, let the medical manager and/or your manager know immediately. Cough into the crook of your arm.

JET LAG: Symptoms include fatigue, headache, irritability, appetite loss, trouble sleeping at night and reduction of mental and physical performance. Jet lag is not something you want to be dealing with at the Games! If you plan ahead you can reduce the chances of it affecting your performance. GAMES AT A GLANCE ATHLETE VILLAGES During the 2017 Games in Toronto, teams will be staying in university residences. Just like students, each team member will have their own small room. These rooms are very basic, though their exact layout and furnishings vary from university to university. Clean bedding and towel will be provided. Team members will be given a metal key for their room. These keys are VERY expensive to replace, so it is recommended that everyone attach their keys to their accreditation for safe keeping. Only participants with the correct accreditation are allowed to enter the residences. Teams will have to go through a security checkpoint to enter their residences. Security guards will conduct random bag checks to make sure prohibited items are not coming into the residence. Teams have been assigned to villages according to their sport. Each village will be divided into different areas for male and female athletes. ATHLETE VILLAGES Accommodation York Humber McMaster Durham University College University College Sports Athletics Volleyball (Female) Basketball (Female) Wrestling Rifle Shooting Golf Volleyball (Male) Basketball (Male) 3D Archery Canoe/Kayak Lacrosse-Box Soccer Softball Badminton Swimming

Teams will have access to the following amenities at each Village: Village Info Desk Athletes Lounge Office Space Meeting Rooms Cultural Spaces Internet Access Lost and Found Fitness Centre RULES AT THE TEAM BC ACCOMMODATIONS You must wear your NAIG accreditation badge at the accommodation so that TEAM BC staff can identify any individuals who do not belong in the building. You need this badge at all times during NAIG for meal service, venue access, bus access so get into the habit of wearing it all day, every day. Floors within the hotel are gender-specific. Athletes are only permitted on their designated floor. Quiet time begins at 9:30 PM nightly. Unless designated at an earlier time by your coach, curfew (i.e. in your room) by 10:00PM and lights out no later than 11PM. Guests if you have a family member who drops by the hotel, they must sign in at the Mission Staff office. Guests are not permitted on the residence floors. Athletes must come down to lobby to meet with them. MEALS Meals will be provided for all games participants with the appropriate accreditation, for example, an athlete staying at York University will only be able to use the meal service at York. If teams are unable to make it back to their residence for a meal they will be issued meal vouchers that will allow them to eat at their competition venue. A typical menu will include: Breakfast: Hot and cold options Lunch: 2 entrees, soups, salads, side dishes, dessert Dinner: 3 entrees, soups, salads, side dishes, dessert Snacks/fruit available for take away (all meals will have vegetarian and gluten free options available) GAMES TRANSPORTATION The Host Society will provide transportation for teams from their Athlete s Village to their competition venue. This bus is referred to as the Competition Bus There will be a Spectator Bus that transports spectators from Villages to competition venues. This bus is only for participants of the games who have accreditation! It is not available to the public

All athletes must be accompanied by a coach, manager or chaperone when on a Competition Bus or Spectator Bus All passengers on either bus MUST be wearing their accreditation or they will not be allowed to board Team sports only board competition buses when their entire team is present. Coaches and managers are responsible for ensuring all appropriate participants are on board for departure Buses will not wait for you, they leave at the scheduled departure time unless otherwise posted. Do not be late! Each Athlete s Village will have an information desk set up where Transport Information and schedules can be found. Team BC Operations will also ensure Coaches and Managers have the most up-to-date transport schedules for their teams. Team BC Charter Flights will be met at the airport by buses provided by the host society. These buses will transport teams to their residence (Athlete s Village). Baggage will likely be loaded onto a cargo truck and transported to the Athlete s Village, so it is VERY important that all bags have the owners name and team written on them. Rifle team will be picked up by motor pool vehicles with their equipment and be immediately transported to Toronto Trap and Skeet Club to check and secure firearms before being transported to residence UNIFORMS Each member of Team BC will be issued the following pieces of uniform: Ceremony Jacket: to be worn at the opening and closing ceremony Ceremony Short: to be worn at the opening and closing ceremony Ceremony Tee Shirt: to be worn at the opening ceremonies Backpack: to carry all your stuff while at the games Competition Uniform: to be worn while competing at the games Each residence will have laundry services available for team use. It is HIGHLY recommended that everyone write their name on the tag of their uniform so that it doesn t get mixed up with someone else s. Do not lose your uniform as there are not replacements!
