Your cultural tour will directly support villages, desire to become more self-sufficient, preserve their indegenous culture and aid environmental conservation efforts" THE MAASAI & HADZABE: "The Hadzabe live around Lake Eyasi to the south of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania. They are the last remaining ancestors of the original hunter-gatherer tribes who first inhabited Tanzania, and their lifestyle has barely changed for millennia. They are skilled hunters, and use a number of methods to attract game within range of their arrows, including the use of the horns of an antelope, attaching them to their heads while mimicking the animal's characteristic bobbing walk, which draws other curious animals closer. 1 / 7

2 Customized Maasai walking safaris in the Great Rift Valley: If you want to observe the breathtaking natural beauty of the Rift Valley and study the wildlife on foot and at your own leisure, we arrange overnight trekking tours into the Rift Valley, where you visit Maasai bomas and camp in the wild. You will be escorted by local Maasai guides, who will lead you expertly through the landscapes of the valley, where they have grown up. ITENERARIES: A - Day Trip to CHEMKA - Maji Moto Hot Springs: Located approximately 2 Hrs drive from Moshi / Arusha town is Chemka; the hot springs. Hidden in the beautiful green forest natural hot springs, ideal for taking a relaxing dip or simply to use as a backdrop for a tranquil picnic or BBQ. We will give you a driver and guide who can help you spend as long in the spring as you like, with the option to camp overnight in this idyllic spot. If lucky, you may be able to spot some baboons hanging in the tree-tops above you. The End B - 2 Days Maji Mot Hot Springs tour Day 1 - After breakfast pick up from your Hotel and drive to Boma ng ombe then all the way to dry land and full of acacia and baobab trees towards Rundugai village. Soon you will arrive at nice and natural pool with clean and warm water which will make you feel like paradise in mild of dry land. Here you will camp and have time to swim. Diner and overnight. Day 2 -Depart at 8:30 after breakfast drive to close villager where you will have a walk and visit the Maasai tribe and see their normal activity and participate in their daily life activities. Also you will get a chance to sing and dance the Maasai songs. Return to camp for lunch and have time to swim. Late evening drive back to your hotel. 2 / 7

3 The End 2 Materuni Village Materuni village is a beautifully lush area to visit on the outskirts of Moshi in Kilimanjaro area. Here you can really get to grips with the life of the local Chagga people- wandering through the village and passing their homesteads at the foothills of Kilimanjaro (make sure to wear some good shoes as it can be muddy up there) Here you will either have a picnic lunch box or arrive to a full spread of freshly cooked lunch prepared by your own safari chef. Following lunch you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the refreshing (quite cold!) pools beneath the waterfalls. When you have had your fill of this beautiful place we drive back to your hotel. 3 -Marangu Day Hike You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Kilimanjaro National Park -Marangu Gate. You will effectively be doing the first day of the total climb- through the lush rainforest ecosystem. From the Marangu gate, accompanied by your professional mountain guide, you will hike to the Mandara Huts, at an altitude of 2700m. You will stop here for lunch and then take a short walk to view the Maundi crater, from where you can see the view of both the Mawenzi peak and Kibo peak (the summit). This hike, suitable for anyone of average fitness, takes approximately 3 hours each way. You will have plenty of time to stop and take in the variety of fauna and flora found in the national park, including the Black and White colobus monkey and the Kilimanjaro passion flower, unique to the ecosystem of Kilimanjaro. Following your hike you will return to the gate at Marangu and be transferred back to your hotel (arrive in approximately 5pm). 4 - Ng iresi Cultural Tourism Programme 3 / 7

4 A - Full day tour: Navuru Waterfall and Village Tour Transfer to Ngiresi village at the foot of Mount Meru where the walk starts from Mzee Loti's farm. You do a Village Half Day Tour combined with a walk towards the Forest Reserve in Olgilai, the neighboring village. A small path will lead you into a steep canyon of the Themi River. Expect to spot a variety of bird species which include Hornbills among others; and blue monkeys playing in the forest. You cross the river several times before reaching the beautiful Navuru waterfall, surrounded by walls covered with abundant vegetation. Later transfer to your hotel in Arusha. B - Full day tour: Village and Forest Day Long tour The one day tour adds a visit to the catchment forest on the higher slopes of Meru. Here you can see the spring that is the main water source for the village. A few meters downstream the farmers are building an intake for the irrigation system Groups with a special interest can plan a visit to the traditional healer at the edge of the forest. Later transfer to your hotel in Arusha. C - 2 days tour Transfer to Ngiresi village for a full day tour and after dinner you spend the night camping at Mzee Loti's farm. Enjoy the night with African tales / entertainment. 4 / 7

5 From here the next morning you start climbing Kivesi hill, an old volcano with a natural forest on top. Baboons and gazelles can be seen in the forest. You descend the hill on the other side and return to Loti's house for lunch. The late afternoon you will be transferred back to your hotel in Arusha. 5 - Longido Tours The tour takes you to the extensive plains around Longido Mountains, 80 km north of Arusha and features an insight into the traditions of Maasai culture. The lush area is home to rare birds and mammals. The tour includes: - A nature trail to spot birds - A climb to the impressive Longido Mountain through a dense natural forest - Walking safari through the Maasai plains an over the slopes of Longido mountain - A visit to a traditional Maasai Village - A tour of historical sites dating back to British colonial times Tour options: A - Half day tour Longido is rich in birdlife. Some of the birds seen in this area are Starling Major, Red and Yellow Barbet, Masked Weaver, silver Bill and Secretary Bird. A bird walk through the Maasai plains starts from the town of Longido to the bomas of Ol Tepesi and allows you to see birds as well as trees and plants used by the locals to make food and medicines. Later, visit a Maasai boma to see the Maasai lifestyle. Drive back to your hotel in Arusha. B - Full day tour Add to the bird walk, a walking safari from Ol Tepesi to Kimokouwa along a cattle trail. Gradually climb to an altitude of 1:600m to get panoramic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru. Descend to Kimokouwa green valley of wells and a nearby historic British grave. 6 C 2 Days tour Day 1: Add to the bird walk, a walking safari from Ol Tepesi to Kimokouwa along a cattle trail. Gradually climb to an altitude of 1:600m to get panoramic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru. Descend to Kimokouwa green valley of wells and a nearby historic British grave. On Wednesdays, you can extend your stay by visiting the busting and colorful cattle market. Return to campsite for diner and overnight. Day 2: Early next morning, follow narrow footpaths through dense natural forests for three hours to reach the beautiful dawa ya supu or medicine soup viewpoint. Another two hours climb leads you to the top of Longido Mountain to enjoy fantastic view of the other mountains of northern Tanzania. The descent back to the campsite takes about three hours. Finish with a meal with the FARAJA women s group before driving back to your hotel in Arusha. 6 - Camel Safaris Our safaris combine camel back-riding and walking throughout popular areas with a few that are seldom seen by western visitors. They offer a good alternative if you want to get up close to the animals of the African bush and to the local communities without sitting in a vehicle all day. Our camel run throughout Maasai land, in the Lengai-Meru-Kilimanjaro Mountain Complex. You will arrive at the Mkuru Camel Camp and you will welcome by local Maasai guides. Choosing to walk or ride the camels, bedecked with comfortable and modern leather saddles, you will set off around the savannah with views as stretching as far as you can see. The pace is leisurely and, on the way, wildlife and birds will be pointed out as well as plants and trees traditionally used by the Maasai. A - Mt. Kilimanjaro Camel Safari 3 days and 2 nights This is the best compromise for those who do not have a lot of time but would like to experience 6 / 7

7 a wonderful camel safari. It is also an excellent trekking training, for those who plan to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. The roof of Africa will be your destination with Maasai guides at your side. The flora, fauna and landscape of this expedition will give you a clear impression of North-East Tanzania. Day 1-2 In the early morning, after a delicious breakfast, the three days of the camel safari begin. You can choose to ride the camels, or if you prefer, to walk. The animals you will see are various, such as hyena, gazelle, zebra and near Endarakwai you will see elephants. During your trip a trained cook will prepare delicious meals for you. At night you will relax by a campfire, listening to animal sounds under a roof of stars. The accommodation is in comfortable small tents, camping toilet and shower are available. Accommodation is in simple but comfortable safari tents. Camping toilets and shower facility are available. Day 3 The safari finishes at Ngare Nairobi, a Maasai village, where you will appreciate a lunch sitting in front of Mount Kilimanjaro. 7 / 7
