Friendly camps are created to find the best balance between peoples needs and aspirations, and conserving biodiversity for current and future generations. The most successful options so far are proving to be responsible tourism and nature-friendly crops that generate greater income for local communities, especially in parts of Madagascar where development options have so far been elusive.

2 SAHA FOREST CAMP One of the nearest Protected area The forest corridor that makes up this protected area is one of the last natural forests remaining in Madagascar s central highlands with ha. This area is on the eastern edge of the central highlands and supports a rich biodiversity. For this reason, the government and conservation NGOs have classified it as a national priority for conservation. The forest corridor has numerous lowlying valleys where rice paddies have been a long-time economic mainstay for local communities. Happily, farming is not in conflict with the forest and the two have long coexisted in harmony. The Saha Forest Camp eco-lodge is a simple yet comfortable hotel where a restaurant and 10 well-equipped chalets blend perfectly with the surrounding forest. This facility is a mere easy two-hour drive from the capital Antananarivo and offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy nature in a relaxed and serene setting. Activities: look for the Indri Indri, the largest living lemur in Madagascar and the Fosa, the largest mammal carnivore endemic to Madagascar, reforestation sessions within the forest corridor and authentic Merina villages visit (traditional zebu carts, rice granaries, wickerwork etc.). A visit through the rice fields and the villages will give you and overview of the importance of rice in Malagasy culture. 4 LOVERS CAMP CAMP AMOUREUX The corridor of Menabe Antimena, with a size of ha, is home to existing various type of ecologic habitat (dry forests, mangroves, lakes etc.) making it favourable to multiple species that exist nowhere else in the world. The region of Menabe is one of the traditional places to visit in Madagascar. The interaction between local communities and biodiversity has also to be taken into account. In fact, local communities are still practicing rituals within Protected Areas to ask for ancestors blessings. The camp is located at the edge of the village Marofandilia, the Camp Amoureux (or lovers campnamed after the interlacing baobabs in the camp) is equipped with 14 spacious tents that totally blend with the landscape. Far from the civilisation and its noises, the camp will surprise you with its private style that combines comfort, rustic characters and serenity. The tents are located one-hour drive from the Baobabs' Alley, through a secondary road. Access to site: Morondava-Marofandilia : 40 kms of secondary road 1h 30 with a 4WD - Bekopaka-Marofandilia : 150 kms of secondary road 6 à 7h with a 4WD 4*4 - from Morondava to Marofandilia, the road is only accessible with a 4WD between April and December. The humid zone is a specific habitat for the avifauna including the pink flamant and the Bernier's teal. The association of woodworker in the village of Marofandilia are also offering sculpture session activities that will enable visitors to learn how to sculpt within a day. The final product, a boat or a baobab, will be yours to keep as a souvenir of this exclusive experience. 5

6 Black Lemur Camp New protected areas of Andrafiamena Andavakoera The new protected area of Andrafiamena- Andavakoera is located in the region of DIANA. It is one of the wealthiest in biodiversity in the region. The landscape varies from sandstone and limestone chains of mountains to humid, dry and transitional forests filled with various endemic species. This area is the last refuge of the Propithecus of Perrier; a threatened and endangered specie known for its black fur The black lemur camp is located at the heart of the corridor of the protected area. The restaurant offers a stunning view of the dry forests and 10 spacious tented lodges will welcome you during your stay Five circuits are available around the camp. It is also a complementary stop with the national park of Ankarana that is 6 hours trek from the camp. 8 CAMP TATTERSALLI Discover the golden crowned lemur The Camp Tattersalli is situated at the edge of Andranotsimaty (Daraina) 's forest. As you walk toward the camp, you will notice the main activity of the region: «gold mining». Straight on the camping place, you will discover the other «gold» of Daraina, the famous golden crowned lemur or «Propithèque of Tattersalli». The infrastructures of the camp are simple yet comfortable. 10 Tents and private bathroom are available and the facility gives you the opportunity to be the closest to the golden crowned lemur. The Cooperative Biovanille produces and treats vanilla from culture to packaging. In order to support this local structure, Fanamby helped them in the administrative steps to obtain an ECOCERT certificate. The tremendous vanilla plantations as well as the preparation workshop managed by the association are there to be visited and share the story of this local association with you. You will get the chance to visit with the association and experience the processes of this perfumed spice. Visit Sahaka Within the region of SAVA, Sahaka has 1000 Hectares or so of freshwater lakes, the most important of the SAVA region. This area is shelter to 46 species of birds of which 26 species of aquatic birds: meller's duck (Anas melleri), Madagascar Pond-heroncrabier blanc- (Ardeola idae) etc... The sands dune covering the littoral forest lining the Indian Ocean are places where marine turtles are clutching their eggs. Other than its wealth in biodiversity and in ecosystem, Sahaka is also the second attic of the region of SAVA after Andapa. 8
