10 ETHNIC GROUPS There are more than 70 dinstict ethnic groups in Kenya. They are divided in: BANTU PEOPLE They are the single largest population in Kenya. They came from West-Central Africa. They include the largest group: the Kikuyu (7 million)

NON-INDIGENOUS GROUPS ARABS They are historically important. They came from Yemen and Oman. They are concentrated along the coast.

11 NILOTIC PEOPLE They are the second largest group. They are native of Nilo- Sahaarian territories. They are herdsmen and cattle-rustlers too. CUSHITIC SPEAKERS They are a small minority. Cushitic is the language of the Afro-Asiatic family. They came from Ethiopia and Somalia. Most of them are Muslim. NON-INDIGENOUS GROUPS ARABS They are historically important. They came from Yemen and Oman. They are concentrated along the coast. INDIANS They are the descendants of migrants recruited from British India ( ). They are concentrated in the business sector EUROPEANS They are the descendants of British colonials. Many of them continue to dominate the business community
