By taking on this challenge you re not only encouraging those in your world to have meaningful conversations and support those struggling with life but also helping to further our work with at risk communities. We need to share stories and the conversations that are making a real difference in day to day life. The funds you raise will help develop specific resources and new campaigns, in an aim to enhance community wellbeing and help connect those who may be struggling with life. Your Adventure Termed Kozi by the locals, Mount Kosciuszko (2,228m), situated in New South Wales Snowy mountains, is the highest peak in Australia and one of the original 7 summits. Polish explorer Count Pawel Edmund Strzelecki was the first European to summit the peak, way back in Why isn t it called Mt Strzelecki? Because this selfless fellow decided to name it after his Polish hero. This popular summit walk takes you to the rooftop of Australia with sweeping 360 views across the Snowy Mountains and Victorian High Country. Stay a while to soak in the fresh alpine air and wallow in your sense of achievement, before returning along the track. Fundraising Options There are a number of ways you can approach your fundraising: 1. Raise some or all of the amount. When you do so, any donations that others make towards your challenge will be tax deductible. If you d like to fundraise but don t know where to start, our professional fundraisers will provide you with the support and resources to make it easy and stress free. 2.You can also opt to donate yourself as a tax deductible donation. Upon registration the Huma Charity Challenge team will send you a link to create your personalised fundraising page on the GoFundraise event portal. The suggested fundraising amount is $700 per person. That doesn t mean we won t let you go if you don t reach it. We just want you to try your best! You can do it! 3 anyone who might be struggling. By raising funds you Trip grading Introductory to Moderate To determine the grade of a particular adventure we consider a number of factors. These include the condition of the walking terrain.the Kosciuszko Challenge is graded introductory to moderate. This is primarily due to the low altitude gains and the condition of the trail which is well defined and not unduly demanding. During the challenge you will be walking for up to five to six hours at a slow but steady pace. You will need a reasonable level of fitness (remember there is no such thing as an easy trek) and we suggest 30 minutes of aerobic type exercise, (either cycling or jogging) three times a week for the three months leading up to your trek. Adventure Travel By its very nature Charity Challenges involve an element of the unexpected. In remote and developing countries do not expect standards you are used to at home. Remote areas are sometimes unpredictable and itineraries may be altered. To get the most out of your adventure it is important that you are suitably fit, flexible, positive and eager to take on all the challenges that arise. If you are uncertain about your suitability for this trip we recommend that you speak with your charity representative or one of our team. Important Note These trip notes represent the most current information for this itinerary, and may supersede any other supplied information, including but not limited to the itinerary and price. The itinerary should be seen as a guide only. This itinerary may change at any time due to inclement weather, forces of nature and other circumstances beyond our control. Check point stations on route All meals as per itinerary Group medical kit Special adventure t shirt Entertainment and Celebratory BBQ What s Not Included Transport to and from Jindabyne Detailed Itinerary DAY 1 Friday - Meet in Jindabyne After all the fundraising and preparation, the wait is finally over! You will make your own way to Jindabyne and will need to arrive by late afternoon for a team briefing at approx 6pm. We will go through how to prepare for the walk to Kosciuszko the next day, from staggering team starts to the four check points along the route, checking equipment and meeting new friends. Dinner will be served before the recommended early night before we start walking in the morning. meals: D DAY 2 Saturday - Summit Kosciuszko 2228m. (18.5km - 5 to 6 hours) Early breakfast before we board the coach for our journey to Charlotte s Pass to start our walk to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, the highest mountain in Australia. The Summit walk follows an old service road and is predominantly flat or passing over gentle rolling hills. Well marked paths pass the renowned Snowy River and up to Seaman s Hut and onto Rawson s Pass where we will have a lunch spot ready. After lunch we will muster our R U OK? team together before the last 1.4km to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko (2228m). There you are, standing tall on the rooftop of Australia, for that moment there is no-one higher than you in the country - you have done it, you have conquered Australia s highest mountain. We will take our R U OK? team shots on the summit while taking in the views that sweep 360 degrees from the Victorian High Country to the Monaro plains and across the majestic Kosciuszko Main Range. We retrace our steps and head back to Jindabyne to celebrated the challenge with traditional Aussie BBQ. meals: B,L,D DAY 3 Sunday - Head home After a late breakfast you are free to return home or to spend the morning exploring Jindabyne. Congratulations on raising awareness and funds. Join the movement. Start a conversation today. meals: B This itinerary is subject to change with any modifications in Community regulations as well as Governmental changes and natural circumstances beyond our control. Climate At higher altitudes, weather conditions can change rapidly at any time of year. Strong winds, low temperatures and heavy rain squalls can occur throughout the year World Expeditions Travel Group - Fiona Windon 9/26/ :59:08 AM
4 anyone who might be struggling. By raising funds you Dietary Requirements Provided we are advised in advance of your departure we are able to cater for vegetarian diets and can assist with medically recommended diets (allergies and intolerances). Please note that options are likely to be limited in very remote locations or alternatives may be more expensive or unavailable. There may be times when those with special requirements may need to provide their own food. We are unable to guarantee a peanut free or allergen free trip, and therefore, we strongly encourage that travellers with life threatening or severe allergies take all necessary medical precautions to prepare for the possibility of exposure. Passengers must travel with all necessary medications for food allergies and be capable of self administering these medications.
