1 Adventure Guide Diploma 0-00 Program Information Package Program Description The Adventure Studies department at TRU operates the highest qualify adventure guide training in the world. We set the standard around the world for a broad spectrum of wilderness guide training. The Adventure Guide Diploma is an intensive program that will prepare you for exciting leadership positions in outdoor skills instruction and guiding. The program builds technical skills and leadership acumen within each of the activity disciplines in the Adventure Guide Certificate. TRU graduates work for many different kinds of adventure companies around the world, some of which are owned and operated by TRU graduates. Adventure Industry businesses regularly employ graduates of our programs. If you are planning on attending an outdoor recreation or adventure tourism-training program, consider the TRU advantage. Intake Date Fall (September) Admission Requirements: - Successful completion of the Adventure Guide Certificate Note: successful completion of the certificate does not guarantee admission to the diploma program. Program Requirements: - Letter of Intent which includes how the diploma will help you achieve your goals and how the skills and experiences you gained from the certificate have had a positive effect on your learning, leadership, professionalism, your peers and instructors and the program has a whole. - Summer work/practicum plans - Outdoor Experience Log containing all outdoor experiences outside of course time during the past year - Consideration of your Adventure Guide Certificate transcript and GPA Application Deadline The Adventure Studies department will start reviewing students written submissions, transcripts and GPA s for the previous year by January of each year. Late submissions are considered as space allows. If the program is full, you will be placed on a waitlist. Laddering Opportunities Students who have successfully completed the Adventure Guide Diploma and wish to further their education with a degree have the option to ladder into one of the degree programs offered at TRU with an adventure concentration. Students can choose from the Bachelor of Tourism Management or the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program. These programs offer a diverse opportunity for further application of adventure concepts and training while earning a degree. Acceptance of the degree programs is dependent on meeting all educational entrance requirements. How to Apply:.
