On the sunny terrace of the Hasliberg, hiking enthusiasts will find various touring and hiking routes in the different side valleys of the Haslital. Active mountaineers and climbing freaks ascend to our SAC huts and cliff legends. There are varied routes available to cyclists and mountain bikers. And all those who take it easy, can ride comfortably with the mountain railways to our peaks and enjoy the unique panorama view. Do not miss the attractive events around customs, culture and sports. 8 Experiences "On Goethe's trail" Discover the wild-romantic Rosenlaui valley with its wonderful landscapes and sights - now comfortably and conveniently with the post-bus and a single ticket! Power of water glacier gorge Rosenlaui & old saw mill Schwarzwaldalp Powerful waterfalls, romantic grottoes, bizarre rock formations. For thousands of years, the glacier water has created a fantastic work of art from rock and continues to form. The irresistible power of water fascinates, awakens the philosopher in us and sweeps away the everyday life. The walk through the Rosenlaui glacier gorge is a refreshing natural experience in the midst of a magnificent mountain world. At first sight it seems more leisurely further up in the valley. The Pfannibach on the Schwarzwald alp flows evenly through the watershed of the more than 100-year-old saw mill Schwarzwald alp. The force which is present in this calmly flowing stream is only shown in the interior of the saw mill. Driven by the water, the saw cuts precise, powerful tree trunks which have defied every storm during decades. The visit to the "Old Saw Schwarzwaldalp" is interesting, educational, and impressive at the same time. Improved fortification - Gastronomy in the Rosenlauital Many things have changed since Goethe passed the picturesque Rosenlaui valley. But already the gifted poet enjoyed a hearty meal of local products on his journey through the region. 12 Gelmer Funicular Whoever is looking to test their nerves the place to go is on the Gelmer funicular. A maximum slope of 106% makes it undisputedly the steepest cable car in Europe. The Gelmer funicular is a marvel of technology and offers an unforgettable experience in the almost-vertical. Above, the turquoise lake Gelmer lures you for a round trip or a hike to the Gelmer hut. Handeckfall Bridge 70 m above the gorge of the Handeck waterfall, the hanging cable bridge allows a spectacular view of the waterfall. Located at the valley station of the Gelmer funicular, the bridge is the ideal connection to the Hotel Handeck. Hiking Tip 1: Roundtrip Gelmer lake 2 h Up it goes ascending with a 106% gradient. The steepest cable car in Europe, the Gelmer funicular, takes you to the starting point of the hike. The mountain hiking around the Gelmer lake offers fascinating insights into the alpine mountain world. Along the lake, original streams of water and huge rock plates invite you to linger. The partly precipitous, steep rocky cliffs, means only with good balance and sure footedness can you enjoy the view down to the turquoise blue lake. Hiking Tip 2: Hike from Hotel Handeck to Gelmer lake 2 h Hike from Hotel Handeck to the Gelmer lake, crossing the Gelmer dam. Then downhill back to the village and foot march over the Handeck falls bridge. Hiking Tip 3: Hiking from Gelmer lake to Gelmer hut 2 h 30 min. The mountain hike along the lake with ascent to the Gelmer hut and an overnight stay is definitely worth it. 12

13 Tälli Cable Car 10 minutes from the Susten pass road, you head directly up on the foot of the Gadmer Dolomites. The gondola, which was once in industrial use, has space for eight excursionists. Up there everyone, whether still young or already somewhat older, finds his personal favorite place. Hiking Tip 1: From Tälli via Sätteli to Engstlen 4 h 30 min. By post bus to Gadmen and then by Tälli cable car up the mountains. From here the hike takes you directly to Engstlenalp. Return from Engstlen by post-bus to Innertkirchen. Hiking Tip 2: Hike Berghaus Tälli to Gadmen 2 h 30 min. Take the Tälli cable car to the restaurant and mountain lodge Tälli. From there the high-altitude walk, below the mighty Gadmerfluh, leads from the Tälli via Alp Rafluh down to the mountain village Gadmen and from there on the Forst street back to the Tälli cable car. Hiking Tip 3: Climbing Route Tälli 6 8 h The first climbing route in Switzerland leads through the Gadmerfluh, a gallery of rock walls. With a length of about 600 m it is one of the longest and most spectacular climbing routes in Switzerland. The starting point for the climbing route is the restaurant and the mountain lodge Tälli, which is easy to reach by the Tälli cable car. The fixed rope route is possible from July to October in safe weather. 78 m ladders, 550 concreted pens and a lot of fixed ropes guarantee a safe tour of the route, which leads over rocky steps, grassy terraces and narrow ribbons. The descent takes place over the back of the Gadmerfluh and leads via Sätteli back to the mountain lodge Tälli or down to the Engstlenalp. 13

14 Trift Cable Car The gondola glides over the gorge and takes no more than ten minutes. Eight persons at a time travel from the Gadmen valley up into the Trift area. The former industrial cable car, opens up access to a hiking area and to its undisputed climax: the Trift bridge. With a 170 m span, the hanging bridge crosses the gorge chasm. It takes some courage to cross. The rewards are stunning views of the turquoise blue glacier lake and the tongue of the Trift glacier. Hiking Tip 1: Hiking from the valley to the mountain station 2 h 30 min. Start is the valley station in Kehr. The hike goes to Schafftelen, through the forest to the mountain station of the Trift cable car. Hiking Tip 2: Hike from the mountain station to the Trift bridge 1 h 30 min. The mountain station is the starting point for a hike, which reaches its peak in the crossing of the Trift bridge. Fascinating views over the glacier lake up to the glacier are guaranteed. The crossing of the 170m long suspension rope bridge is a must! Nothing for weak nerves. The ascent from the bridge to the Windegg hut (30 min.), can be undertaken either directly through the "Ketteliweg" (difficulty level T3) or somewhat more leisurely over the "Familienweg" (difficulty level T2). When you descend directly from the Windegg to the mountain station of the Trift cable car, you must be sure of your step. From the Trift bridge the Alpine Route (difficulty level T4) leads in 3 h to the SAC-Trift hut. 14

15 Reichenbach Funicular The thundering waters of the Reichenbach waterfall led the way for the bold engineers when they laid the rails for the industrial cable car in Eye-to-eye with the wild brook and the powerful, 120 m high Reichenbach waterfall, the nostalgic vehicle with its original, faithfully recreated 24-seated wooden cart, reaches the heights. Here, the famous detective called on his archenemy Professor Moriarty to fight - the violent fist fight ended with a fall into the depths. In this very waterfall! Not far from the mountain station, three viewing terraces offer a breathtaking picture of the waterfall and Haslital. Hike from the Sherlock Holmes Museum at the Casinoplatz in Meiringen via Willigen and Schwendi to the crash point of Sherlock Holmes and his opponent Professor Moriarty right next to the roaring Reichenbach falls. Continue via Zwirgi to the mountain station of the Reichenbach falls - train and back to the valley (Total approx. 2h 30) or on foot via Geissholz to Willigen and Meiringen (T1 T2). Hiking Tip 2: Valley walking along the river Reichenbach 2 h 30 min. From the mountain station of the Reichenbach falls - train hike over the Zwirgi to the other side of the fall to the crash point of Sherlock Holmes. Direct access (T2) or via family route (T1) to Schwendi and Willigen back to the valley station. 15

16 Sidelhorn Cable Car From the Hotel Grimsel Hospiz, take the cable car over the Grimsel lake up to the foot of the Sidelhorn, the starting point of the hiking trails to the summit of the Sidelhorn and the trail to the Trübten lake. Hiking Tip 1: From the Grimsel pass to the Sidelhorn 3 h 30 min. The path to the top is a mountain tour with a view of the barren and grandiose natural landscape of the Grimsel area. The face of this unique mountain world is shaped by water in all possible forms. The descent leads past the idyllic Triebtenseewli. From the Bäregg you can see the UNESCO World Heritage site. Hiking Tip 2: From the Grimsel Pass to the Naubergisgrätli 1 h 30 min. Hike from Grimsel pass to Nägelisgrätli, view of the Rhone glacier. Hiking Tip 3: From Grimsel Hospiz to Lauteraar hut 3 4 h The attractive hut trail leads from the Grimsel Hospiz over the dam, always along the lake, over narrow paths, bursting through the rock, protected moors and flower meadows with pine trees up to the sediment zone at the foot of the glacier (degree of difficulty T3). The second part of the route leads through the interesting, ancient area of the Unteraar glacier - the origin of the Aare - and finally up to the Felsporn to the hut in the high alpine area (difficulty level T4). Hiking Tip 4: Grimselpass Trübten Lake gap Mountain lodge Oberaar 2 h 30 min. During this hike you will see the Oberaar glacier and the Trübten lake, approx. 2 h 30 min. A hike to the Oberaar glacier is right on the way, about 1 hour. 16

17 Brienz Rothorn Railway 125 years There are many red horns, but only one at Brienz, on the beautiful lake of Brienz in the Bernese Oberland, from where the ascent is completed in such a romantic and impressive way, by the Brienz Rothorn train, the oldest steam-cog railway in Switzerland. Since 1892 she has struck the route to the Rothorn Kulm stomping, huffing and puffing. Overcome 1,678 m altitude difference, without panting! 29 Aare Gorge Between the villages Meiringen and Innertkirchen, the Aare has eroded for thousands of years, creating a 1.4 km long canyon up to 200 meters deep. Under your feet the icy glacier waters are pressing tirelessly through the narrow ravine, and over them huge rock faces rise to seemingly infinite heights. The gorge can be traversed in 45 min. 30 Alpbach Gorge A breathtaking climb in the rock faces above the rushing brook between Meiringen and Hasliberg. Nothing for weak nerves! The ascent requires sure footedness and good balance. Some parts of the route are similar to rock climbing and no railings. The canyon is attempted from the bottom to the top. It is a rocky trail and can be attempted at your own risk. The entrance to the canyon takes 10 to 15 minutes from Meiringen, valley station of the mountain railways Meiringen-Hasliberg, or from Hasliberg Reuti (post bus stop) direction Meiringen via Schrändli in about 40 minutes. The visit through the gorge takes about 45 minutes. It is recommended to secure children and amateurs with climbing aids or go with a mountain guide. 31 The Glacier Gorge Rosenlaui Massive waterfalls, romantic grottoes, bizarre rock formations: for centuries, the glacier waters have formed fantastic works of art in the rock and continue to do so. The Rosenlaui glacier gorge can be easily reached by post bus. The stop is right at the entrance to the canyon. The well-developed and secured route through the Rosenlaui glacier gorge has a height difference of 155 m, is 573 m long and has several tunnels. The tour takes about 45 minutes. 32 Giessbach Waterfalls / cable car railway The Giessbach waterfalls are one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. The mass of water tumbles down over 14 rock steps to the lake of Brienz and offers a unique play of nature. The oldest cable car railway in Europe leads directly from the boat station to the historic Grand Hotel Giessbach, built in 1873/74, and the imposing Giessbach Falls. Cable car rides on departure and arrival of the BLS. 34 Resti Castle The castle, founded in 1250, is the dominant fortress of the Haslital. It once served to protect the traffic routes in the valley and the passes Grimsel, Joch and Susten. 40 Bike Trail Gadmen The newly created Bike Trail is signposted with directions and labels. The trail has been in use since opening in autumn 2015 and is also a pleasure for beginners. The single trail is about 3.5 km long and about m wide with a slope of 90 m. From the camping Obermad (starting point) take the existing road via Riiteli to the Schwarzenbrunnen, then through the forest from Steinwasser and Kiesfang to the Kalberweid (shaded side) and then on the dam in Pfang back to the camping. The route runs over the road, forest path, gravel, sticks and stones. There are two different routes in the Kalberweid. One is located on the existing natural road, while the other route is technically and conditionally more demanding. 43 Swimming Lake Hasliberg The bathing lake is almost 3000m² in size and is located on the Hasliberg above the valley station Twing of the Meiringen-Hasliberg mountain railways. 46 Climbing Outdoor Klettersteig Tälli Climbing rope course Tälli, the first via ferrata of Switzerland, secured by wire ropes, ladders and various other aids! The starting point for the climbing route is the restaurant and the Berghaus Tälli, which is easy to reach by the Tälli cable car. The valley station is located directly on the Susten pass road. You will need 4 hours to reach the culminating point. For the descent, there are two possibilities, either three hours descent to the Engstlenalp or then a four-hour descent back to the Tälli hut via Sätteli. The difference in height is 600 m, wire ropes are available in a length of 1300 m, 78 m ladders, 550 hooks in concrete, guarantee the safety of the visitors. Mark entry and exit blue / white. Requirements are sure- footedness, good physical condition, good balance. It is a medium difficulty fixed rope route. As equipment for the fixed rope, helmet, climbing belt and connecting rope with two running carabiners are needed. The material can also be rented in the Tälli hut. Climbing Garden Umpol, Steingletscher A new climbing garden with 6 routes, mostly in difficulty between 4b and 5b. The routes can be climbed as lead climbs or as top rope. The longest route is about 25 m long, so at least a 50 m rope must be carried along. The routes are well secured. In the lead climb, 8-10 quickdraws are required. The climbing garden is located on the road to the Tierlibergli car park, about 2 km from the Hotel Steingletscher (on the Sustenpass). Climbing Rope Course Tierbergli, Umpol Starting point is Steingletscher (post bus stop) at the Sustenpass road. Via toll road to the car park of the Tierbergli hut at Umpol (2100 m). Requirements K3C. The climbing route is located in alpine terrain. Please pay attention to the information board at the entrance and only use appropriate equipment. Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended. 1. Partial access: From the parking lot Tierbergli hut (Umpol) on Hüttenweg (blue and white marked) to the signpost Klettersteig and about 100 m to the marked entrance. The climb is broken up with grassy ledges. The slightly overhanging key point is well secured with iron steps. At point 2427 m, you can leave the via ferrata or continue with part 2. Walking time: from Umpol approx. 1h Partial access: Via the 1st section, or the summer hut way to the signpost below the point 2427 m. From the junction, follow the red signs to the marked entrance. From Oberläger a path leads to the Horn lake on the left, a worthwhile detour, which extends the hiking time by an hour.
