Hike through novice or expert trails, or take the rest of the day to relax back at the lodge, enjoying spectacular panoramic views of the landscape. Begich, Boggs Visitor Center and Guided Hike to Byron Glacier Come to the informative Visitor Center to see the striking ice formations of Portage Glacier from across Portage Lake. You might catch a glimpse of ice calving, a spectacular event where the ice breaks away from the glacier into the water. Next, hike the gentle Byron Glacier Trail and revel in its dramatic scenery until you reach the mighty Byron Glacier itself.
