1 Welcome to the Future Kingston Point Rail Trail! Today s tour will introduce the proposals for a linear park and non-motorized trail along a 1.5 mile stretch of the former Ulster & Delaware Railroad, from midtown Kingston to the Rondout waterfront. 2 About the Kingston Greenline 2 The Kingston Greenline is a vision for a network of urban trails, bikeways, water-trails and complete streets that provides residents and visitors a healthy, fun and sustainable way to connect with our City s rich cultural, historical, commercial and recreational resources. The Greenline also serves as an important hub for the growing system of rail trails throughout Ulster County and beyond, eventually linking from the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River Valley to New York City.

3 The Hasbrouck Tunnel Trailhead 3 Alta Planning + Design has recommended an access point at Livingston St and Delaware Ave. This would involve daylighting a portion of the tunnel and installing amenities between the tunnel and the 9W trestle.

4 Street Crossings at Delaware and the Avenues 4 The first crossing at Delaware Avenue poses some difficulty due to the alignment of the old railbed. To address this, Alta recommends reconfiguring the intersection and adjusting the trail alignment for a crossing at the intersection. Along the avenues, trail features will reduce risks of vehicle/pedestrian conflicts.

5 Neighborhood Park at Delaware and Murray 5 A pocket park on the DOT-owned property at the intersection provides a welcoming access point and public space. This area provides access via Delaware Ave to JFK Elementary School, Hasbrouck Park and Kingston Point Park.

6 Trail Amenities at Rondout Gardens Apartments 6 As the trail emerges at the Rondout Gardens apartments, multiple access points and connections are planned, including improvements to the existing pathway to the JFK school, a connection to Hasbrouck Park and the High Road, improvements at the planned trailhead near the Rondout Market shopping plaza. The public park and community garden are already important neighborhood assets that will be enhanced by the trail.

7 Connecting to the Rondout and Kingston Point 7 Current plans include a trailhead at the public parking area on East Strand St. From here, trail visitors will have direct access to the Rondout commercial district. Trail users will be able to continue to Kingston Point Park and the proposed Hudson Landing Promenade via complete streets connections and, possibly, a trolley-with-trail along the causeway. Alternately, trail users can head west along the recently completed Rondout Promenade to Ravine St.
