IMPORTANT WARNINGS! The sport of ultralight flying is a potentially dangerous activity!! Participation as a pilot or passenger could result in injury and/or death to the participant. Each individual, regardless of experience, has the final responsibility for his or her own actions and safety while engaged in any aspect of ultralight flying activities. All flying activities involve traveling through airspace with some amount of horizontal and vertical motion governed by the laws of physics and subject to unpredictable forces of nature. Flying is also highly dependent upon the skills of the pilot and behavior of students/passengers. Regardless of the quality of the equipment and materials used, and knowledge and experience of the pilot, the risk of serious bodily injury and/or death is always present during this activity. Ultralight vehicles using ram- air wings are constructed of numerous components, supplied by many different manufacturers. Each component must be inspected to ensure that it is in good working order. Quantum Parachutes, LLC or High Energy Sports, Inc. cannot guarantee the workmanship, suitability or airworthiness of any component of the ultralight vehicle. 2

OBLIGATIONS OF THE OWNER It is mandatory that you read this manual before assembly and use of the powered parachute. It is beyond the scope of this manual to teach you how to fly a powered parachute ultralight or develop the judgment required to determine safe or unsafe conditions prior to and during each flight. In addition, this manual is not a complete text on the care and maintenance of your powered parachute, its ram- air wing, airframe and power plant. As such it is important that you seek out all information relevant to flying and maintaining powered parachute ultralights. The following is a guide on procedures that should lower your risk of injury or death to yourself and others. TRAINING: The training, experience and competence of the pilot of an ultralight vehicle are extremely important to flight safety. NEVER use this equipment unless you have: Read this manual and completed a "controlled program of instruction" for the powered parachute ultralight aircraft you will be flying. - OR - Read this manual and all owners/flight manuals, operating manuals, and have 100 flight hours in a similar aircraft and have at least a current private pilot's license. 7 !!! W A R N I N G!!! It is critical to flight safety that this wing is only used on approved vehicles!!! Never make any modification or repair to the wing, suspension lines, or steering system unless specifically directed by instruction in this manual or through written approval directly from High Energy Sports, Inc. All references to the right or left sides of the wing are taken from pilot's point- of- view when flying the aircraft. Parachute Components and Terminology To better understand these instructions the following definitions are used: Span: The distance from wing tip to wing tip. Chord: The straight- line distance from the forward most portion of the airfoil leading edge, to the trailing edge. Upper Surface: The entire top surface of your wing. Lower Surface: The entire bottom surface of your wing. Ribs: There are two types of airfoil ribs incorporated in your SKY SERIES Powered Parachute Wing, Load Ribs and Partial- load Ribs. Both are designed to maintain the desired airfoil shape of your wing. All internal ribs are also cross- ported to allow the flow of air pressure between cells during inflation and pressure equalization during flight. Load Ribs: Ribs with line attachment loops and reinforcements designed to transfer load into the rib for all chordwise line groups. Partial- load Ribs: Ribs positioned between Load Ribs to maintain the desired airfoil shape and having line attachment loops and reinforcements designed to transfer load into the rib for the 'A' and 'B' line groups. Cell: Bounded by the upper and lower surfaces, the length of the chord and the distance between adjacent Load/Partial- load Ribs. Your SKY SERIES Powered Parachute Wing has thirty- four (34) cells. Stabilizer: Small pressurized fabric panels extending down from each wing tip to enhance directional stability. Suspension Lines, Upper and Lower: Suspension linest attach your wing to your risers. The Upper suspension lines are attached to the loops on the lower surface of your wing. The lower suspension lines attach to the connector links at the top of your risers and cascade into the upper suspension lines. 7

Your SKY SERIES Powered Parachute Wing has six upper suspension lines attached chordwise to each Load Rib and two upper suspension lines attached chordwise to each Partial- load Rib. The lines are identified in the chordwise direction starting at the leading edge with the 'A' line, followed by the 'B', 'C', 'D', and 'E' lines. The upper lines cascade into lower lines of the same group letter. All your lines are color coded for easy inspection and pre- flight. A line chart is provided at the end of this manual. NOTE: The SKY SERIES risers have four (4) upper legs on each side. There are a total of eight (8) connection points for the wing connector links to the risers. Cross- Over Lines: Your SKY SERIES Powered Parachute Wing has six (6) crossed suspension lines attached to the upper 'C', 'D', and 'E' line attachment points that span the center two (2) cells. These lines assist in keeping the wing located directly over head during taxi and take- off. They also add to overall in- flight stability. This is one of many original safety features incorporated into your SKY SERIES Powered Parachute Wing. Steering Lines, Upper, Middle and Lower: Upper steering lines attach to the trailing edge of your SKY SERIES powered parachute wing. Middle steering lines connect a number of upper steering lines at one end, with the safety steering line and the 5mm lower steering line at the other end. The Safety steering line then connects to the aft most wing connector link. The 5mm lower steering line continues to the control mechanism of your vehicle where it is tied off. NOTE: SKY SERIES wings come with Standard Performance Steering (SPS). High Performance Steering (HPS) is also available. Standard Performance Steering (SPS): This steering system has three (3) groups of four (4) upper steering lines (a total of 12 lines) on each side of the trailing edge. There are twenty- four (24) upper steering lines across the entire trailing edge. Each upper group connects to a middle steering line. The three (3) middle steering lines on each side are connected to the safety steering and the lower steering lines. This is the steering configuration that comes on your Sky Series Parachute unless you specified otherwise. High Performance Steering (HPS): This steering system has three (3) groups of six (6) upper steering lines (a total of 18 lines) on each side of the trailing edge. There are thirty- six (36) upper steering lines across the entire trailing edge. Each upper group connects to a middle steering line. The three (3) middle steering lines on each side are connected to the safety steering and the lower steering lines. This is the "Power Steering" configuration. It is VERY responsive to small control inputs. This steering system is NOT recommended for new pilots. Safety Steering Lines: A safety steering line is attached where the middle steering lines join with the 5mm lower steering line. The other end of the safety steering line 8

is attached on the outboard side of the appropriate rear connector link. This is another original Quantum Parachutes design feature. Risers: Covered webbing straps that connect the parachute wing to the vehicle. The SKY SERIES risers have four (4) connection points for the parachute wing at the top of the riser and two (2) connection points for the vehicle at the bottom. The risers are designed for a specific type of vehicle, i.e. PC2000, Rascal, etc. Some of the risers assist in compensating for torque, some do not. These risers are NOT interchangeable with other vehicle types or other wings. Each riser is marked "right" or "left". The A- risers face the front of the vehicle followed by the B, C, and D/E legs.!!! W A R N I N G!!! It is critical to flight safety that this wing is only used with approved risers on approved vehicles! Be sure to refer to your vehicle assembly instructions for specific riser/parachute wing attachment information. Connector (Quick) Links: Your SKY SERIES Powered Parachute Wing is assembled and delivered on eight (8) #5, Stainless Steel Maillion Rapide, barrel type, connector links attaching your parachute lines to your risers and four (4) #6 Stainless Steel Maillion Rapide links used to attach your risers to your vehicle. These connectors are often referred to as "Quick Links". IMPORTANT! This is a Critical Flight Safety Item! Use ONLY STAINLESS STEEL MAILLION RAPIDE LINKS, connector links supplied by HIGH ENERGY SPORTS, Inc. or your powered parachute manufacturer! Never use similar hardware store quick links, THEY WILL FAIL UNDER NORMAL FLIGHT CONDITIONS. Connector Link Sleeves: 2 ½" polyvinyl sleeves are positioned over the connector links where the riser attaches to the vehicle. 2 ½" surgical tubing sleeves position the lines on the connector links at the canopy. 9

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT! DO NOT OPEN THE PLASTIC BAG AND REMOVE YOUR SKY SERIES POWERED PARACHUTE WING UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETELY READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS Tools required for Assembly 1 each 9mm open end wrench to fit the #5 connector link 1 each 11mm open end wrench to fit the #6 connector link 1 each Human assistant capable of following directions The correct attachment of your Sky Series Powered Parachute Wing to your completed airframe is a critical part of your Powered Parachute construction. Time spent reading the following instructions, reviewing the description and terminology provided above and examining the referenced figures will give you the understanding and confidence to complete this assembly. ASSEMBLY TO THE VEHICLE 1. Park your completely assembled vehicle in a large clear area. Allow 35' for installation of the parachute behind your vehicle. Block the wheels so your airframe cannot move. 2. Place your Sky Series wing at the rear of your vehicle about 5 feet behind the propeller. 3. If the Sky Series webbing risers are attached to your vehicle: a. Pull the risers to full stretch. Make sure the pulley is in the proper location for your vehicle steering system and there are no twists in the risers. b. Locate the Sky Series line group organizer. You will see a # 5 Maillion Rapide Link at the end of each line group. DO NOT take the lines off this link. Be careful not to allow the link to twist or drop through the lines. Maintain the proper riser orientation and attach the right D/E line group to the right D/E line riser. Position the link in such a manner that the barrel screws downward when the parachute is in flight. Repeat this operation for your C, B, and A line groups. Repeat on the Left side. 10

4. If the Sky Series webbing risers are attached to your wing: Stretch webbing to full length taking care not to twist or rotate risers. Orient the risers according to your vehicle attachment points. Attach the risers to the appropriate attachment point with the #6 mamillion rapide link provided with the riser. Finger tighten the barrel then tighten no more than ¼ turn. Continuity Inspection: Your SKY SERIES Powered Parachute Wing is now attached to your airframe and ready for line continuity inspection. This should be done in no wind conditions. With your assistant holding the vehicle to prevent it from rolling, walk behind your airframe, grab the parachute and, allow the lines to reach full extension. Remove your wing from the plastic bag and lay it on the ground. Return to your vehicle and stand with your back toward the propeller between the suspension line groups. With your left hand, loosely grab all the right side lines and with your right hand loosely grab all the left side lines. (Remember: parachute line groups are named relative to your in- flight position.) 11

Holding the lines at waist level walk toward your wing. If there are twists pull up and apart allowing the wing to rotate until all line groups are straight. After you have removed any twists, allow the wing to completely unfold and lay it on the ground with the lines facing upward. Making sure there are no twists in the riser, have your assistant hold the left "A" suspension line group at the #5 connector link that attaches the parachute to the riser. Stand behind the wing and grab the left leading edge "A" line at left wing tip. Pull tension until this line comes off the ground and goes directly to the connector link. Your assistant should verify that this is the outside line on the A connector link and that it does not cross over any other lines from the wing to its position on the link. Move your right hand along the top leading edge until you reach the next suspension line junction. Again tension this line verifying that it is straight and does not cross any other line. This line will also pull tension on the outside line on the connector link. Continue this procedure. Every third cell, have your assistant verify that the next line on the connector link is in sequence. Repeat this until you have come to the center cell. Have your assistant move to the right A line connector link and repeat this process for the right side. Check your line continuity for the B lines using the same procedure. Repeat the procedure with the C lines. Your assistant should verify that the line sequence on the connector link accommodates two C lines respectively until you come to the center cell. The upper center cell line attachments will connect to the opposite lower line (Cross- Over). The lower lines will remain in sequence on the connector link. Have your assistant verify that the lower C lines are in the proper sequence and do not cross over any other lines. Repeat the C line continuity check procedure for the D/E lines. Go to the Left wing tip and move to the trailing edge. Raise the trailing edge to waist level and locate the upper steering lines. Pull tension until the safety line is tight. Have your assistant verify that the safety line goes directly to the rear connector link and does not cross over any other lines. Verify that the lower steering line goes through the appropriate pulley on your riser. Repeat on the Right side. You have now verified line continuity for your Sky Series parachute. 12

Tighten all #5 Maillion Rapide connector links as follows: Tighten the link using your fingers, then, with a 9mm open end wrench, tighten the link a maximum of ¼ turn. WARNING! Over tightening a connector link can cause the barrel to crack and separate. Inspect regularly for cracks. Do not fly with cracked barrels Push the Protective Sleeves over the connector links. Setting your lower steering line To set the Lower Steering Line have your assistant hold the Upper Steering lines at the Upper/Lower Steering Line cascade junction. Have them pull tension until the safety line is tight. The safety line is your reference for the Lower Steering line length. Route the Lower Steering Line through all pulleys/guides with the foot bars in the full back (aft) position. Make sure that the Lower Steering Line and the safety steering line are both under equal tension. Tie off the Lower Steering Line using a secure knot and a stop knot to the appropriate link or connection on your vehicle frame. Your steering is now at the "Factory" setting. WARNING! YOU MUST PERFORM THE FOLLOWING GROUND TAXI CHECK OUT BEFORE ATTEMPTING YOUR FIRST TAKE OFF. IF YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO PERFORM THIS TASK, HAVE YOUR DEALER OR A COMPETENT PILOT PERFORM IT FOR YOU. ASSEMBLY PRE- FLIGHT Choose a calm day when the winds are blowing straight in at 6 mph or less. Choose a field with a long runway so you have plenty of room to taxi the wing. Perform all engine and vehicle pre- flight warm up operations in accordance with the vehicle manufactures' instructions. Lay out your Sky Series parachute using the inverted method (all line attachments facing up). This allows you to pre- flight the parachute making sure no lines are wrapped under the wing on inflation. Smoothly but with authority add power to inflate your wing and begin to taxi your vehicle. Maintain only enough power to taxi your aircraft and keep your wing inflated and directly overhead.. 13

DO NOT TAKE OFF! After checking that your ground path is clear, begin the inspection of your wing. Start at the risers and steering line on one side checking for their correct position and routing. Scanning from one tip to the other. Make sure that the suspension lines go directly from the risers to the wing without any twist. Ensure the lower steering lines join the upper steering lines directly and are not wrapped around any suspension lines. Check that all cells are fully inflated both span- wise and chord- wise. Check the risers and steering line on the opposite side. Continue to check that your ground track is clear. CAUTION! THESE NEXT GROUND MANEUVERS MUST BE PERFORMED INTO THE WIND. DO NOT OVER- STEER THE WING WHILE TAXIING. THIS COULD CAUSE YOUR VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER. IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU ARE LOSING CONTROL, SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY. Once you are satisfied that your wing is attached and taxiing correctly you are ready to fly. Flight Considerations Inflation: Your Sky Series Wing is self- centering. It will not want to over fly your vehicle. Do not use control input on inflation. Concentrate on your throttle finesse by using progressive power in a smooth controlled manner. Your parachute will want to center itself. Taxi: In no wind conditions on a standard day at sea level you can expect your take off speed to be between 26 and 31 mph. Your parachute will want to face straight into the wind. Take Off: The Sky Series Parachutes are sensitive to the torque of your engine. How sensitive depends on the weight of your system, thrust of your engine, how your vehicle compensates for the torque and the location of your body weight in your seat. Be prepared to correct for a slight turn as your wheels leave the ground. 14

Climb out: As you climb you will be adjusting your throttle. If you have clear airspace we recommend going up to ¾ throttle. By saving that last ¼ you will have a reserve of power if unexpected turbulence hits you. Flight: Your Sky Series parachute is sensitive to weight shift. Practice removing your feet from the steering bar and using weight shift for turns. Approach for landing: Land straight into the wind. Be sure to flare and turn off your engine while your vehicle is still rolling forward. WING INSPECTION PROCEDURES WARNING! If you have any doubt as to the airworthiness of your wing, do not fly it. Contact your powered parachute manufacturer or HIGH ENERGY SPORTS, Inc. to determine airworthiness. Fabric Your wing is made of very lightweight rip- stop nylon material, which has been treated to prevent air from leaking through the fabric. Exposure to sunlight, water and dirt, will reduce the life expectancy of the fabric. Fabric degradation often occurs subtlety over a period of time and may not result in obvious blemishes or tears. A regular inspection of the parachute fabric is necessary to ensure the fabric remains in good repair, retains an acceptable level of impermeability to air leakage and the wing is airworthy. To inspect the wing fabric: Clear a clean, dry area large enough to layout the wing on its upper surface. Inspect the lower surface, cell- by- cell, looking for small holes, dirt or discoloration. Do Not Walk on the wing. Turn the wing over and inspect the upper surface as you did the lower surface. Do a "suck test" on the fabric at the upper surface center cells near the leading edge. To do this, hold the fabric to resemble the membrane of a drum. Forming an "o" with your lips hold the material to your mouth and try to suck air in. When new you should have almost no air permeating the material. As your parachute ages you may be able to feel some air coming through the material. Seams and Joints Inspect all seams looking for any broken or worn stitching. 15

Cell Interior and Crossports Crossports are made in the airfoil shaped ribs by cutting a hole in the fabric with a hot knife which sears the edges of the cut. Crossports may tear from high stress and/or fray. Look inside each cell, inspecting the fabric ribs, upper and lower surface for small holes and discoloration.. Look closely for debris, small dirt clods and insects that often become trapped inside the cells during take- off and landing. Remove all foreign objects. Inspect each cross- port for tears and fraying. Suspension lines Suspension lines are made from double braided QR Spectra line with a polyester outer sheath. Stretch out the lines so that they lay flat on the ground. Walk the length of the lines running your fingers along the lines, visually inspecting the lines and feeling for abrasion, fraying, burrs, internal breaking and debris. Look for breaks in stitching at cascade junctions and attachment points. Look for discoloration. Steering Lines Inspect the Upper steering lines in the same manner as the suspension lines. Lower steering lines are made from a low stretch 5mm Polyester double braided cord. This cord has many filaments running inside a braided sheath and is designed to be used with pulleys. Inspect the lower steering for wear to the sheath especially where it travels through the pulleys of your control system. Check the flexibility of the lower steering line, it should be pliable and not stiff. MAINTENANCE Wing Storage The parachute should always be stored out of direct sunlight and in an area free from moisture, mice, bugs and mildew. Prolonged exposure of the wing to sunlight will weaken the fabric and shorten the life span of the wing. Cleaning The zero porosity fabric of your High Energy Sports, Inc. Powered Parachute Wing is not affected by water, but the reinforcing tapes and thread can be. To maintain the best performance, avoid getting your wing, soaking wet. Only spot clean your wing. Use a clean, damp, cloth rag or soft bristled brush. Use only mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid getting the tapes wet. Do not machine wash. For hard to clean spots use dry cleaning solution. Rinse thoroughly. 16

Repairs and Line Replacement IMPORTANT! ALL REPAIRS TO YOUR HIGH ENERGY SPORTS, INC. POWERED PARACHUTE WING MUST BE PERFORMED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL AND USE ONLY ORIGINAL HIGH ENERGY SPORTS, INC. PARTS AND MATERIALS. WHERE TO HAVE YOUR WING INSPECTED AND REPAIRED: High Energy Sports, Inc. Trained and qualified powered parachute service representatives. (Call High Energy Sports, Inc. to confirm qualifications) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified parachute loft or Balloon repair stations. Repairs to the wings external and internal surfaces To assure your safety, all repairs to your wing whether major or minor should be accomplished by one of qualified agencies listed above. Line Replacement Your SKY SERIES Powered Parachute Wing has been designed and manufactured to allow the easy field replacement of all suspension and steering lines. This is another original Quantum feature. General description: The suspension and steering lines of your SKY SERIES Powered Parachute Wing are manufactured with a loop at each end. The upper suspension lines (A, B, C, D, E, & F) are threaded through the rib line attachment loop. Then, the other end is passed through the line loop and tensioned forming a Larks head Knot. This method is repeated at the line cascades junctions by capturing the two or three upper suspension lines with a lower suspension line The suspension line terminates at the Mallion Rapide link by sliding the loop onto the link in the proper sequence. Once you have identified a line or lines that are damaged, use the line chart to map it's position. The line chart will help you to identify the relative position of the line. You can order a replacement line using this line code and color. If you have more than one damaged or broken line, please contact us about the best method for replacing the damaged lines. WARNING! NEVER FLY WITH DAMAGED LINES. NEVER TIE THE ENDS OF A BROKEN LINE BACK TOGETHER. THIS PRACTICE CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH! 17

Connector (Quick) Links Use only the Maillion Rapide stainless steel #5 links supplied with your wing and #6 links for your riser attachment to the vehicle. WARNING! THE USE OF QUICK LINKS NOT SUPPLIED BY HIGH ENERGY SPORTS, INC., CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. WING PREFLIGHT INSPECTION Look at all of the wing components to determine airworthiness. WARNING! If anything APPEARS un- airworthy or unusual, DO NOT FLY THIS AIRCRAFT. Contact your dealer or the manufacturer. Check the connector links for proper attachment and any cracks in the barrel nut. Check suspension and control lines for knots, tangles, debris and wear. Check steering lines for proper routing through all guides and pulleys and for secure attachment to the airframe control system. Perform a complete vehicle inspection according to the manufacturer's instructions. Heed your to intuition and check any component that catches your attention. Pay attention to detail.
