2 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development The International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development falls in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Tourism is included as a target in 3 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals: SDG8 Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all SDG12 Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns SDG14 Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

3 Manifesto for the Promotion of Accessible Tourism In implementation of article 30 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities ratified by Italian Law n. 18 of 24/02/ articles 1 great challenge Location accessibility shall not be the decisive factor when planning holidays: it should be possible to choose a destination or tourist facility because it is where we want to go and not because it is the only accessible one..

6 Tuscany Italian Regional Law 86/2016 Consolidated Text of the Regional Tourism System Art. 1 Object and Purpose The Tuscany Region primarily acts to: Recognise the strategic role of tourism for sustainabile economic development and the promotion and enhancement of the territory; Promote accessibility to tourism facilities and services for people with motor, sensory and intellectual disabilities, in order to make use of the Tuscan tourism heritage

7 Tuscany - Italian Regional Law 86/2016 Consolidated Text of the Regional Tourism System Art. 2 Accessible Tourism The Tuscany Region ensures that people with motory, sensory and intellectual disabilities are able to make full use of all tourist services on offer autonomously, so that they can receive the same level of quality as other users without an increase in price. These guarantees are extended to guests of accommodation facilities suffering from temporary reduced mobility. promotes effective collaboration between local authorities, public bodies, tourism operators, associations for people with disabilities and social tourism organisations
