3 Our Impact Since 1969, Outward Bound Canada has inspired Canadians across the country to Get out. Look in. Today, 150,000 Canadians have done just that, placing their trust in us to lead them on challenging journeys of self-discovery in the natural world, and emerging on the other side of the experience with a better understanding of who they are and what they are capable of. Our diverse outdoor programs impact the lives of Canadians in many ways: developing and shaping leadership and communication skills, building resilience and self-confidence, nurturing physical and mental health, and developing an appreciation for connections to self, others, and the natural world. Through our funded programs, we are able to work with vulnerable populations to support healing, recovery, and personal growth, in ways that leave a powerful and lasting impression on participants changing their lives for the better, forever. We re extremely proud of our ability to impact the lives of so many individuals across the country and from all walks of life. As part of a global network of Outward Bound schools that has recently celebrated 75 years, we re also extremely proud to be part of an international movement that has helped millions of individuals across the planet to achieve their potential and contribute to a better, bolder, and more resilient society. 4 Expedition Overview April 23 to May 5, 2019 Find your true north Get Join us on an expedition out. to one of the most Look remote corners of the world. in. In celebration of Outward Bound Canada s 50th anniversary year, you ll travel to the very edge of Canada, where the landmass ends and the polar ice begins: the Magnetic North Pole. On this challenge of a lifetime, you will ski 100 kilometres over eight days to the Pole, a place very few have seen with their own eyes. Our expedition begins with a flight to Resolute Bay, where we will complete our polar training. We will then fly further north, and upon landing, begin the eight-day journey across the ice by ski. When we arrive at our iconic destination, and after a short celebration, our ski plane will return us to Resolute for a final celebratory meal before returning home. This is a one-of-a-kind adventure to one of the most secluded places on the planet. See the extraordinary Magnetic North Pole with your own eyes, and at the same time make a difference in the lives of others by raising funds in support of Outward Bound Canada s Bound for Greatness Campaign. The Pole awaits! Angus is an accomplished guide and outdoor educator with over 30 years of experience, having led expeditions throughout Africa, Europe and the Americas. In 2017, Angus led an Antarctica Expedition with fellow guide Scott Kress, and has extensive experience instructing novices in extreme and cold environments. In the 1990s, Angus spent five winters working in Nunavut as an instructor for Outward Bound Canada. Angus is well on his way to completing the seven summits (the highest mountains of each of the seven continents), and was the 50th Canadian in history to summit Mount Everest. Scott has extensive experience guiding novices in extreme environments, and In 2014, guided a group to the Magnetic North Pole. Scott was also the 51st Canadian to summit Mount Everest and the 17th Canadian in history to climb the seven summits. Scott is an international speaker on leadership and team development, sharing lessons learned from years spent climbing the world s tallest mountains. His accomplishments in leadership training are surpassed only by his successes on the side of the world s most iconic mountains.

5 Magnetic North Pole Ellif Ringnes Island, Nunavut April 30 Isachsen Weather Station April 29 Magnetic North Pole Ellef Ringnes Island, Nunavut April 27 Thor Island Danish Straight Ottawa April 22 Start expedition King Christian Island Expedition Itinerary Training Camp: A three-day training camp will be held outside of Huntsville, Ontario, January 18 to 20, Magnetic North Pole Reach Beyond Expedition: Day 1 Fly from Ottawa to Resolute Bay, Nunavut, on a regularly scheduled First Air Flight. Once in Resolute Bay we will head to the South Camp Inn where we will stay for the duration of our time in town. Day 2 Training and acclimatization day in Resolute. Day 3 Final prep day in Resolute. Day 4 Fly from Resolute Bay to Christian Island with Kenn Borek Air on a Twin Otter Ski Plane. Days 5 to 11 Travel 100 km by ski over sea ice and land to the Magnetic North Pole (average travel distance/time per day: 15 km, 6 to 8 hours). Day 12 Fly back to Resolute with Kenn Borek Air on a Twin Otter Ski Plane. Enjoy a final celebratory meal in Resolute Bay and spend the night at South Camp Inn. Day 13 Fly back to Ottawa on a scheduled flight.

6 Expedition Information Group Size Eight to 12 participants, two guides. Weather Average daily air temperatures reach highs of -14 C, and lows of -21 C. Equipment Needs Participants will be issued a detailed personal equipment list and a complete gear check will occur at the January 2019 training in Huntsville, Ontario. Outward Bound Canada will supply participants with polar skis. Participants will eat and sleep in large expedition tents designed for six to seven people. Medical Screening Participants will be required to complete a physician s medical. Fees Course Fee: $25,000 CAD per participant (includes $5,000 deposit to secure your place, due along with signed admissions forms). Fundraising Expectation $25,000 CAD per participant.
