PAGE 2 VIEW DATES, PRICES & BOOK YOUR HOLIDAY HERE Introduction Dominating the horizon from Marrakech, the mighty High Atlas Mountains are the crowning glory of Morocco and this superb trekking holiday combines the highest peak Toubkal (4167m) and one of the most lesser known and beautiful peaks in Africa Mgoun (4068m). From Marrakech we head head to the valleys of Mount Toubkal. From the village of Imlil "Land of the Berbers," we start our ascent through a rugged and colourful landscape to the summit of Toubkal (4167m), the highest point in North Africa. After Morocco s highest peak we leave the Toubkal range and make our way to one of Morocco's most undiscovered mountain regions the Mgoun Massif. Stunningly beautiful and extremely remote, the summit and ridge of Mgoun offers one of those special opportunities to walk through a region where trekking groups are a rarity. We ascend via a spectacular ridge before reaching Mgoun's summit. Finally we end this excellent holiday in the vibrant city of Marrakech. If you are looking for a KE classic style of trekking holiday which expertly fits between two weekends and combines the highest peak in the country, an away from it all trekking experience and a fantastic city then this is the perfect holiday! A GENUINE SMALL GROUP ADVENTURE - The Secret Of Our Success On Toubkal And In Morocco. We are proud to say that this holiday in Morocco is limited to a maximum group size of 15, ensuring we leave only our footprints on the trails whilst enjoying a genuine small group adventure. We've been taking our clients walking, trekking and mountaineering for almost thirty years so we know the ingredients of a good guide and a successful group adventure. Toubkal and Mgoun are neither particularly high nor technically demanding, but the experience and knowledge of our Moroccan leaders, can make a big difference to your chances of success on summit days. Those who are new Moroccan trekking will take particular comfort in the presence of our experienced Moroccan guides, who we believe are the best in the business. Explore International. This holiday is part of our Explore International range. Participants on these trips can book through KE or through one of our international partners. This helps us to gather together sufficient numbers of like-minded adventurers to get your holiday up and running quickly. Led by an English-speaking guide, the cosmopolitan nature of these groups can be an important part of the experience! Award winning tour operator for holidays in North Africa In November 2016, KE proudly won a British Travel Award for Best Holiday Company to North Africa. For almost 15 years we've been taking our customers to Morocco which is a country close to our hearts. With the majority of KE staff having travelled to this fascinating country, KE are the true Moroccan experts. Is this holiday for you? The maximum altitude attained on this trek is not great and we spend only one night at just above 3000m, however in both the areas of Toubkal and Mgoun there are long days with a good deal of ascent and descent. We follow well-established mule trails between valleys and villages whilst ascending both peaks. However when

PAGE 3 trekking over passes the ground will be more rugged underfoot as we encounter zig-zag trails on scree. This is one of our most challenging trekking holidays in Morocco and you should be comfortable with walking for up to 8 or 9 hours each day. The optional ascents of Toubkal and Mgoun present no technical difficulty and should be within the capabilities of fit hikers who are looking for a new and challenging holiday in the mountains of Morocco. Holiday Itinerary Day 1: Meet at the group hotel in Marrakech. Transfers from Marrakech Airport are provided. On arrival in Marrakech you will be met by a KE representative who will assist with the short transfer to the group hotel in the city. Depending on your arrival time and after settling in you may like to explore. Marrakech is a colourful city and most people head for the central square of the Djemaa-el-Fna beneath the imposing tower of the Koutoubia Mosque. KE Land Only services begins with the overnight in the group hotel. Dinner is not included tonight due to the wide range of flights arriving during the day and evening. This also means if you arrive in Marrakech early in the day you are free to enjoy the city and relax for the rest of the day. HOTEL Day 2: Transfer to Imlil and trek to the Neltner Refuge - Toubkal Base Camp. After breakfast we leave the hustle and bustle of Marrakech as we head towards the looming High Atlas. On reaching Asni, we leave the main road and drive into the foothills of the High Atlas. Our drive follows the pretty Mizan Valley until we reach the hamlet of Imlil (1740m) where we meet up with the trek team and join our trail. This whole area was in Martin Scorsese's epic "Kundun" when it was transformed in a "Tibetan" backdrop to tell the story of the 14th Dalai Lama. The trail is rugged underfoot as we gradually ascend for approximately 2 hours to the holy shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (2310m). A large white painted boulder apparently marks the location of the mausoleum of the legendary King of the Jinns (Chamharouch). Next a gradual climb of approximately 4 hours has us reaching the area of the Neltner Refuge "Toubkal Base Camp" (3207m) and the location for our first exciting night under canvas! CAMPING DESCENT 90M ASCENT 1400M TIME 6 HRS TREKKING HOURS DISTANCE 12KM MEALS BLD Day 3: Exciting ascent of Toubkal (4167m) before trekking down to Ait Souka. North Africa's highest peak. Initially we leave camp and start a steep ascent on a zig-zag route which snakes it's way though scree and boulders. As the sun starts to rise, we pass two guardian peaks and the occasional patch of old snow. As we continue upwards the views becoming more impressive and after approximately 3 to 4 hours, we arrive on the summit and the reward for our hard work is a breath taking panorama! We are surrounded by the peaks of the High Atlas, the hills of the Anti-Atlas and Jebel Sirwa, whilst away to the south lies the Sahara. After taking in the views and plenty of "summit photos" we descend back to the hut in approximately 2 hours. After a much needed rest for lunch and tea at the camp we ascend down the valley to the hamlet of Ait Souka and our welcoming gite for the night. This excellent git is run by a Toubkal legend "Ahmed Ait Hammou" a guide in the local area for many years and mountain expert. The gite also includes a traditional "hammam" which for a small fee of 50 MAD ( 4/4 Euro) can be enjoyed.

PAGE 4 GITE / HOSTEL ASCENT 2000M DISTANCE 17KM MEALS BLD DESCENT 2600M TIME 8 HRS TREKKING HOURS Day 4: Transfer across to the Central Atlas before walking to our camp in the Ikiss Valley. After the last two challenging days we can enjoy breakfast in the gite before enjoying a short walk down to Imlil. Here we pick up transport for our transfer across to the Central High Atlas. The journey across to the Bougmez Happy Valley takes approximately 6 hours and passes a rich variety of contrasting scenery and the opportunity to sit back, rest, enjoy the views out of the window and prepare ourselves for the next few days. During the drive we ll pass through the olive farms of the Marrakech and the foothills of the Middle Atlas before the road curves towards the Central High Atlas. On reaching the Central High Atlas we ll enjoy a relaxing lunch stop and have the opportunity to stretch our legs with a short walk before enjoying the remainder of the drive which sees us arrive in the village of Arous. Here we meet our mueteers and their mules who load up our bags whilst we enjoy a much welcomed leg stretcher approximately 2 hours to the Ikkis Valley. After passing the village of Ait Said we set up camp at 2300m. CAMPING DESCENT 230M ASCENT 680M TIME 3 HRS TREKKING HOURS DISTANCE 6KM MEALS BLD Day 5: Trek with views of the Mgoun range to the spectacular Tarkedidit Plateau (2900m). Today we are rewarded with our first views of the Mgoun Mountain range as we leave the green valley behind and make our way into the heart of the mountains! After breakfast we leave camp and prepare ourselves for a steep ascent up to the Aghouri Pass (3400m). On reaching the top we'll enjoy a well-deserved break and take in the views. This whole area is known for the nomadic shepherds that venture up to the high pastures to graze their flocks during the summer months before heading down into the valley for the winter. The region is also known for its "azibs" or dry stone sheepfolds used by the shepherds and we should see these whilst we are trekking today. Next we descend down to the Tarkeddit Plateau (2900m), the location for our camp tonight. The remainder of the afternoon is left to relax and prepare for our summit attempt tomorrow. Tonight we sleep at the foot of Mount Amsound and in the shadow of the incredibly beautiful Mount Mgoun. CAMPING DESCENT 650M ASCENT 1500M TIME 6-7 HRS TREKKING HOURS DISTANCE 9KM MEALS BLD Day 6: Summit day for Mount Mgoun (4068m). An early start is needed today for the exciting summit attempt on Mgoun. As the third highest peak in the Atlas range, this beautiful mountain offers an experience that feel more like an expedition due to its remote location and lack of trekking groups. The initial part of our trek sees us leave camp and make our approach to the magnificent long ridge of Mgoun. The full Mgoun massif runs for over 30kms with the majority of it standing over 3000m. Our route takes us onto the ridge which if we are very lucky we'll be able to spot many fossils along the trail. The summit of this majestic giant is 4068m and weather permitting from the top we will have a 360 degree view over the longest mountain range in Africa - the majestic High Atlas which runs for over 800km. After taking in the views and all important summit photos, we descend steeply on trails of scree until reaching the Oulilimt Valley

PAGE 5 (2600m). Our camp on the valley floor will look extremely welcoming after a long day and dinner will most certainly be enjoyable! CAMPING DESCENT 2700M ASCENT 1400M TIME HRS TREKKING HOURS DISTANCE 21KM MEALS BLD Day 7: Trek towards the pretty valley of Bougmez and our welcoming gite in Agouti. After breakfast and we start on a rugged trail which gradually ascends up to the Tizi n'ait Imi (2905m). This is our only major ascent today and the route we follow is used as a passage for the Ait Atta and Ait H'med nomads who take their flocks up to the high mountain pastures. The Ait Atta is a large Berber tribe which originated in the Jebel Sahro region of Morocco and is known for its Nomadic lifestyle. From the top of the pass we have a fantastic panorama of the Bougmez "Happy Valley." This pretty region of Morocco is little visited by trekking group and of often referred to as "Morocco's Shangri La." An area of orchards and high pastures surrounded by high mountains, the Bougmez or Happy Valley is known for the friendliness of the people and simplicity of life. From the pass we follow a beautiful path that zig-zags down to the sacred source of the sacred sources of Ait Immi with its seven mills in the upper part of the Bougmez Valley. Tonight we stay in the hamlet of Agouti in a welcoming but simple gite with showers! The gite also offers a traditional hamman that can used for a small fee. GITE / HOSTEL MEALS BLD Day 8: Transfer to Marrakech before the rest of the day at leisure. This morning we transfer (4 hours) from Agouti to Marrakech and plan to arrive early in the afternoon. After checking in at the group hotel there will be time to head out and explore. We leave the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure so you can enjoy the final night at your own place. Marrakech is a great place to wander and part of the experience is losing yourself in the souks and haggling for colourful souvenirs. The city has a number of gardens and the Jardin Majorelle also known as the "YSL Garden" is a lovely place to visit. Since 1980 the botanical garden was owned by the French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his ashes were scattered there after he passed away in In the evening the Djemaa el Fna is a great place to watch the world go by and there is a rich assortment of food stalls to grab a quick snack alongside tourist and locals! HOTEL MEALS BL Day 9: Departure Day. KE Land Only services end after breakfast. There is a complimentary transfer to the airport to check in for the return flight for anyone leaving on this day. It is easy to use a taxi from the airport and they are equipped with meters, however most taxi drivers offer a fixed price. The standard fare to the city in a "petite taxi" is normally around 6 though you may have to pay a little more ( 8-10) if arriving late at night. The airport is approximately 4 miles from the city and the journey takes minutes. Hotel contact details and an emergency number will be provided with your booking confirmation. Meal Plan All meals are included in the holiday price from breakfast on day 2 to lunch on day 8. We don't include dinners in Marrakech due to the wide range of flights arriving during the day and evening on day 1. Not including dinner on the evening of day 8 leaves you in control of your budget. Also the group can together decide on where they prefer to eat for their final evening. Food & Water Whilst trekking, the food is a mixture of local and Western, all purchased locally and cooked for us by our trek cooks. It is always surprising what the local cook team conjure up! Breakfasts are continental style, with tea and coffee, muesli, bread, jam, honey and soft cheese. Lunch usually starts with the Berber speciality of mint tea, followed by a buffet of rice, pasta or couscous, with a freshly prepared salad - onion, tomatoes, green peppers, grated carrot, green-beans, with tinned sweetcorn or peas added. Hard and soft cheeses, tinned fish, olives, biscuits and bread are also on the lunchtime menu. Dinner starts off with soup and bread. The main course is usually rice, pasta, couscous, spaghetti or chips, with a vegetable stew (or tagine) consisting of some of the following - onion, potato, carrot, green pepper, zucchini, turnip, parsnip, green beans, and peas. There will be some meat (usually chicken, lamb or beef), however meat is not prominent in the menu. All dishes come with traditional sauces which are rarely (spicy) hot. To round off dinner, there is the usual range of hot drinks. Accommodation During this holiday the group will spend two nights at a tourist class hotel in Marrakech. While there are many more expensive hotels in Marrakech, we look to strike a balance of comfort, convenient location and overall good value. Away from Marrakech we spend two nights in gites (trekkers' lodge) in the villages of Ait Souka Agouti. Whilst trekking there is a total of 4 nights camping. Accommodation in Marrakech and while camping is based on twin sharing. If you are travelling by yourself you will be paired up with another single client of the same sex. Accommodation in the gite is in dormitories. It is possible to hire a single tent while on trek for an additional cost. Please note single tent hire does not include single rooms in hotels. For the hotel nights in Marrakech single rooms are available for a supplementary cost. Additional nights in Marrakech are available either at the group hotel or in a riad. Group Leader & Support Staff The group will be accompanied by a local English/French speaking professional tour leader and for groups larger than 12, there will be an assistant guide. The group will also have the support of a full trek crew including cook, baggage animals and their handlers. Altitude This holiday involves going to high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 3500 metres. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully. Before coming on this holiday you should read the advice on trekking at high altitude on our website which can be

PAGE 9 viewed via the link below. You can also talk to one of our trekking experts if you have any concerns about altitude. Spending Money Approximately 100 (or equivalent in US dollars or Euros) should be allowed for miscellaneous expenses including approximately 35 for tips for your trek crew. It will also be sufficient to cover soft drinks, snacks, and not included meals in Marrakech. Marrakech is a great place for souvenir buying and all major credit cards are accepted. If you are intending to buy expensive items, you should budget accordingly. It is not necessary to purchase Moroccan currency (Dirham) outside the country. You can withdraw money in local currency from ATM s on arrival at the airport once you are through customs and in arrivals or in Marrakech itself. Credit cards can be used to purchase goods and it is a good idea to carry one in case of emergency. Guidance On Tipping Tips are the accepted way of saying thank you to your local guides and porters. They do not form part of their wages and any tips they receive are seen as a personal thank you from group members. For our part, we advise local teams that tips are not a duty or a prerequisite but are a bonus and entirely dependent on the service that was given. For your trek crew we recommend that you give a tip if you feel that their services have met your satisfaction. We will provide guidelines on how much to tip the local staff along with your joining instructions but it should be remembered that this is your thank-you to the crew and the final amount should be decided by the group. We estimate that approximately 35 per group member should provide an appropriate level of tips. However, for the KE leader, we leave the tipping amount totally at your own discretion. Free KE Gift We would like to give you a free gift as a way to say thank you when you book your holiday. Choose from exclusive KE branded t-shirts, caps, neckwarmers, trek bags* and more. Alternatively you can choose to make a 10 donation to the Juniper Trust Charity. You can make your selection in your MyKE account after booking. You will need to select your free gift at least 6 weeks before you depart and all items will be posted out at 5 weeks prior to departure. For all late bookings, we will endeavour to send your FREE gift to you before you travel, however this cannot always be guaranteed. Please visit our Free KE Gifts page for more details of all our KE Branded goodies on offer. * A trek bag is one of the free gift options available for this holiday. Delivery outside of the UK will be charged. Baggage Allowance Your baggage whilst trekking will be carried by pack animals. The packed weight of your main bag whilst trekking should be no more than 15 kgs. (33 pounds). It is possible to leave clothes or other items not required on trek at the group hotel. Group Size & Holiday Status For each holiday there is a minimum number of participants required to enable it to go ahead. Once the minimum number is reached, the trip status will change from 'Available' to 'Guaranteed to run'. You can check the trip status for each departure in Dates and Prices table. Other than in exceptional circumstances, we will not cancel a trip once it has achieved this guaranteed to run status and so you are free to proceed with your international flight booking and other travel arrangements. Recommended Outdoor Retailers

PAGE 10 Many of the Equipment items listed above are available from Cotswold Outdoor - our 'Official Recommended Outdoor Retailer'. When you book a holiday with KE you will receive 15% discount voucher from Cotswold Outdoor and other retailers. >> Find out more General Information Passport & Visas A passport with 6 months remaining validity at the end of your stay is generally required for visits to countries outside the EU. The information that we provide is for UK passport holders. Please check the relevant embassy or consulate for other nationalities. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct travel documents and visas for your holiday. Visa requirements and charges are subject to change without notice. If you are travelling outside the EU you should have at least 2 blank pages in your passport for each country that you visit. Visa Morocco UK and USA passport holders do not require a visa for short stays. Health & Vaccinations You should contact your doctor or travel clinic to check whether you require any specific vaccinations or other preventive measures. You should be up to date with routine courses and boosters as recommended in the UK e.g. diphtheria-tetanus-polio and measles-mumps-rubella, along with hepatitis A and typhoid. A good online resource is Travel Health Pro. Dengue fever is a known risk in places visited. It is a tropical viral disease spread by daytime biting mosquitoes. There is currently no vaccine or prophylaxis available and therefore the best form of prevention is to avoid being bitten. We recommend you take precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Currency The unit of currency in Morocco is the Dhiram. Electricity Supply & Plug We recommend you check if you require an adaptor for your electrical items at: Preparing For Your Holiday It makes a lot of sense to spend some time before coming on a trekking or climbing trip getting some additional exercise. The fitter you are, after all, the more enjoyable you will find the experience. For this trip you need to be aerobically fit and also capable for walking up to 8 or 9 hours each day for five days continuously. We would suggest that you adopt a weekly exercise regime. Jogging, squash and swimming are good for developing better stamina. Before departure, we suggest that you try to fit in a number of long walks in hilly country.

PAGE 11 Climate When we are on trek and in the mountains gaining height we can expect the daytime temperatures above 2500m. to be around 20 to 25ºC. At night, the temperatures, even at our highest camps, will not fall below freezing. We can expect temperatures in the height of the summer in Marrakech at the hottest to reach 40ºC, dropping to a pleasant 25ºC at night. The weather is usually fine at the time of our scheduled departures. However, weather in mountainous areas is notoriously difficult to predict, and rain or even short-lived storms can occur at any time of the year and you must be prepared for extremes of climate. Travel Aware As a reputable tour operator, KE supports the British Foreign & Commonwealth Offices' Travel Aware campaign to enable British citizens to prepare for their journeys overseas. The 'Travel Aware' website provides a single, authoritative source of advice for all kinds of travellers and we recommend that prior to travel, all KE clients visit the official UK Government website at travelaware.campaign.gov.uk and read the FCO Travel Advice for their chosen destination. North Americans can also check out the U.S. Department of State website: for essential travel advice and tips. KE treat the safety and security of all clients as the most important aspect of any trip we organise. We would not run any trip that we did not consider reasonably safe. Should the FCO advise against travel for any reason, we will contact everyone booked to travel to discuss the situation. We receive regular updates direct from the FCO and are in constant touch with our contacts on the ground. If you have any questions about government travel advice, please call our office.
