What works: Good connections to LRT, Uni of Calgary and Foothills Hospital Good frequency Good coverage Not sure about other but benefit when going from Children's Hospital to Market Mall peak times seems to work can more people from Dalhousie to UofC without missing population in Market Mall Connects direct/fast route connects Dalhousie, Market, UofC and ACH nice frequency excellent - great service for students Direct routing, good peak frequency Good connections - i.e. Market Mall and Alberta Children's Hospital Serves University fairly directly N/S - good Connection from Dalhousie Station to University via Varsity Good timing for service Direct/Straighforward Covers major centre (UofC, ACH, Market Mall) Nice in direct N/S Market Mall/Children's Hospital/Varsity Seems more direct, efficient in replacing 4 other routes Direct to University - Market Mall it goes by market mall I like that it connects Market Mall, U of C and Children's hospital N/a The eliminated downtown sector, improving reliability. Better Mall access from the South University campus. Also, improved frequency, and late-night service. Good frequency Only worried about route 145. This route is not a replacement as it won't get me downtown and isn't near Capri ave. Connects Dalhousie Station to the south UofC bus terminal, which is really helpful (allows connections to 9, 72/73, and 20) I love the frequency, so needed in the NW with the 45min frequency now (which causes huge gaps when all the buses arrive at the same time, which happens often). This looks like a good addition, especially if you're removing the 10, 43 & 37 from Dalhousie into Market Mall and the Varsity area. 2/18

Nothing. NA Provides easy access from Dalhousie to Market Mall and UofC Nothing. Not sure I dont use this route. It would be helpful in this survey to have what is being cut and what is proposed staying to help judge. Good connection for the university Looks good and replaces a lot of other routes in that area. I could catch this bus to the university and then transfer to the 9 to get home to Sunnyside. Nice and convenient. Not a route that I would use. good direct route without too much winding Connects u of c to market mall well, and the Hospital Introduces a direct connection from Dalhousie Station to Alberta Children s Hospital and South University of Calgary (UofC) Quick route for residents of Varsity/Dalhousie to get to childrens hospital and UofC. Connecting UofC to Market Mall no comment Great idea!! Strongly support!! Goes from south univ. to children's hospital/market mall! would not use Service between Dalhousie and the UofC with access to Market Mall. fulfills more need for busses in university heights Great that there's more access to Market Mall from U of C. Can connect university with market mall without going to brentwood It makes sense to have direct bus service from UofC to Market Mall. It has always seemed odd that didn't exist. I didn't even catch this before, so you're pulling even more opportunity away from MM > BW and moving it into Dalhousie by heading North from MM. I'm not sure why, but I know that's a short trip. not applicable NA Good for students commuting to the U of C as simple as possible under the circumstances I can take this bus from home on 49 St. NW and transfer to #20 at U of C bus terminal to my work place. But will it work for my returning trip from FMC? I LOVE the direct route from Dalhouise LRT to the Alberta Children's Hospital and U of C access to Market Mall gets me from 40 ave / 53 st to Dalhousie station. 3/18

I like that it consolidates multiple routes and connects Dalhousie to Alberta Children's hospital Direct connection from university to market mall is obvious. That it took this long is a mystery. Goes to market mall Not a route I currently use or will use Good frequency during rush hour Nothing. This provides a route to connect from Dalhousie to UofC. Service span is good, I like how you can get from Dalhousie, to the children's hospital and university where there are other buses to transfer from/to. Provides service to Market mall from Dalhousie/university Connects University with Market Mall None It could work as it goes down 40 ave which is the area I live. I don't take this bus It's clean and direct and covers some high traffic routes. Going to and from the university and the market mall means you'll have decent ridership. The fact that it goes to market mall. It addresses other neighbourhoods behind what the other routes did It's great for University students nothing for me Like the direct connection between Dalhousie and the Children's Hospital It goes by Market Mall. Nothing proposed route is good. Frequency. Irrelevant No comment. It goes past the market mall station and could in theory get me to the university. Good connectivity to train stations and the mall. It connects Dalhousie train station to Alberta Children's Hospital Added service for new University City development, easier transit between South University / Alberta Children's Hospital and Market Mall provides an alternate from Dalhousie to U of C if there is no Ctrain Goes from Dalhousie to Marketmall More connections to Market Mall! Connects U of C with Market Mall and Dalhousie Nothing Good connection to the UofC. 4/18

Connectivity Short route from dalhousie to university! I don't know - I do not use this route. This bus route is near my home and allows me easy access to Dalhouse and Brentwood. This is a great idea. Having a bus route that connects University with Dalhousie station will really be beneficial. UofC campus is quite large and for many the bus loop is far closer than the c-train so this route is a great addition. The direct connections from Dalhousie Station to the ACH and U of C is awesome. Much needed. why are you asking me about this one when I never use? nothing for me good idea. Nice route to Market Mall from the University. looks good It alleviates the traffic away from the lrt, great for people who want to go to market mall and not have to deal with all the backups at brentwood. This looks like a great route for the reasons stated above.it would not help me get to or from my home but it looks good. I like that this provides another route from Dalhousie station and Market Mall. Not using #31 I use 8 only in those proposed routes. We use the #10, #9, #419, and #405. Only works if you live in Dalhousie and want to go to University. going to Market Mall and the university It connects west Varsity to the University of Calgary campus Nothing Connection Dalhousie-Market Mall I do not know because I do not use this bus. I like the service from Market Mall to Dalhousie Station and beyond. I don't take this bus, I'm not sure. Actually, this one looks pretty good! does not take me to work as a replacement from 49th Street to my stop on 32nd avenue. Not sure how I am supposed to get to work now without a very long walk that is now going to be made that much longer No comment It would go to the university, Dalhousie train station and service Market Mall. This is a route I would be able to make use out of. Provides service connecting Dalhousie to Market Mall. 5/18

37/137 and 43/143 should NOT be taken away for this. I do like the idea of it but those other 4 buses should be kept on. It provides a great connection for U of C students to market mall and varsity area. Don't see much usage Good connection between places I visit. Easier to access the children's hospital. This is great! Nothing for me. It connects the university and Dalhousie station with Market Mall and the Children's Hospital directly. Nothing! I am not familiar with Route 31 so cannot comment. Frequency easier connect for college students good for rental purpose Service maintained along 53rd St NW. nothing Nothing works on this route Nothing I do not use this route at all - do not use this route Fairly direct route from Dalhousie to Childrens hospital and University. Can use this route to access the Children's hospital from Dalhousie Station don't use. Don't use this bus OK this new route will work for the Market Mall trip I like the connection to/from Market Mall and the Universtity It does not take me where I need to go. Good one, because it goes to Alberta Children's Hospital Can't say never took the line and can't understand what u r purposing No comment. I don't use this route. Direct route, convenient run to a variety of important places for people who need to get to a particular destination along that way good to improve the commute of the Children's Hospital &University south I like that this bus services Market Mall from Dalhousie Station in a direct way. Don't use this route Does not affect me 6/18

I see that this route plan tries to replace 137/37 and 143/43, and it does connect university to a station Convenient for U of C commuters & Children's Hospital commuters. Evening service Connecting to U of C Connection to market mall from uofc and also to children's hospital which was a pain to get to before. I would have no use for this plan. Better service to market mall from dalhousie This route does not effect my commute. I would not use it Nothing Doesn't affect me It would be a great way for students to get from the university residences to Market Mall. In the past this always required taking two buses or walking 10 minutes to a bus. I do like the idea of streamlining travel to Market Mall. The 37/137/43/143 thing is so confusing and I never know which bus goes where. It is the only direct service remaining that goes to Dalhousie from Market Mall. It provides better connection to Market Mall and improves on the service frequency of the route 9. Sounds like a good route - provides access to Alberta Children's Hospital and to Market Mall Frequency and span are good It would be helpful when I travel North on 49th street to reach Dalhousie for the CTrain to Crowfoot. Does not effect me. Frequency is okay; connects Dalhousie to hospitals & UofC No comment It's great to have a route that directly connects from Dalhousie Station to UofC and the Children's hospital. I would have no use for this bus route Will this bus still get me to Dalhousie station mall for 8:15 in the morning? Not much: not everyone wants to go on the C-Train. I do not know. I am confused. What doesn t work and why: might be adding unwanted traffic for University District concerned about overcrowding on last third of route (hospital-university); could be disappointing for hospital employees and students trying to get on south of market mall lose insdie of UofC - there's an entire section of the proposed rout that goes around the UofC rather than inside south LRT connection missing 7/18

It works Consider going south from 24th Avenue to serve Foothills Hospital. A relatively direct Dalhousie to Foothills labelled route is an excellent opportunity. Move it to go S/N on Shaganappi, turning into Children's Hospital, S and to 14 Ave NW (Univ. does not want it on 39St, or west campus drive) Univ south loop is missed opportunity - keep going to Foothills & loop back up thru west campus to Children's maybe go to Foothills Hospital goes down a road with nothing around it Connections 53 St congestion/not serve people coming North on LRT Question about why Brentwood LRT isn't consdiered as a stop - more direct for UofC & MM. Maybe there all already direct bus routes. Finish at another bus stop if it replaces that many buses why does it end in Dalhousie? how am I suppose to get home in ranchlands? Doesn't stop close enough to University LRT station. N/a I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THIS ROUTE MUST CONNECT TO AN LRT STATION AT THE SOUTHERN TERMINUS. This will add riders to the route, improve directness of trip, as well as improve the transferability of LRT to this route. Also allows students to access LRT. The route 9 used to connect these areas to the Sunnyside LRT, and these areas are no longer connected to the southern portion of the NW LRT. N/a Only worried about route 145. This route is not a replacement as it won't get me downtown and isn't near Capri ave. Must go later than 23:00, has to leave after last train, else you are stuck trying to get to the residential sections, and it's late at night so even with the 122 you want people to get home quickly and safely It leaves 32nd without much transit service (according to the map with all the new routes). I believe this route could loop around the University and connect onto 32nd, and then 49th. Whatever that may be, 32nd cannot be left that open with all the companies there. The turn onto the campus road that accesses the hospital does get very backed up in peak periods, may want to look at avoiding. That there are no direct routes that cover from Dalhousie to Varsity Drive and Shagganappi Trail. This would mean transfers and inconvenience to use such shops as Planet Organic. Doesn't connect to north end of University at all, or the University in general. NA Doesn't service the rest of Dalhousie area or Brentwood. It doesn't connect to Brentwood LRT. It's service toward the eastern part of varsity is non-existent. 8/18

Not sure I dont use this route. It would be helpful in this survey to have what is being cut and what is proposed staying to help judge. Not as much connection from market mall to Brentwood Could this be moved to encircle the University campus to better serve the university community? Missing foothills hospital. Varsity residents can currently either drive to foothills hospital (10min) or take a mixture of multiple buses/trains (45min-1hr) making transit an unappealing option. Adds an extra trip for those who previously took the 9. Doesn't connect with Brentwood no comment would not use Too frequent, service between Dalhousie and the UofC is already plentiful. Can't you do this without cutting off everywhere else's access to Market Mall? What happens when the 408 goes back? Are you planning on leaving it where it is now? It seems that example after example is pulling me away from BW station, so I'm struggling to put all the pieces together that relate in and out when the hub is gone from the equation. NA With 37/137/43/143 and 10 gone from the Market Mall area, this represents a reduction in service frequency between Dalhousie Station and Market Mall. This will definitely impact how I use transit in the Market Mall area. Perhaps more frequent service on this route is warranted. See above. There are many staff members at Alberta Children's Hospital that gets off work after 11pm. Many of us lives in the NW. 11pm is to early to cut off service. I get off work at 11:30pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Would like to take this bus to Dalhouise and make my way home to Ranchlands. Doesn't get me to Brentwood. Does not go to Brentwood N/a Not in our area. Again I have to change buses, slowing my commute, and this route does not go past the UofC buildings along 32nd Ave, so a longer walk from the stop. No connection from University LRT and route None I do not like the idea of the service span starting at 6:00am. I currently catch the 5:30 9-Bridgeland bus to catch the train at Brentwood. I then take the train to Soutland LRT station to be at work for 6:30am. With this proposed time change highly effects my work schedule. I don't take this bus Its doesnt stop at Brentwood and its one of the only buses that goes to market mall. 9/18

It doesn't connect from Brentwood to dalhousie stations and you cannot replace 3 routes that do with one that does not. nothing for me It only stops at one train station which is inconvenient if coming from downtown direction. It does not go by my house nothing Doesn't go directly downtown. What happens when there is a disruption on c-train? Not at all useful for those living along Dalton Drive Nw It doesn't serve me so no comment. It doesn't go past the stop close to the university on 32 Ave. It now ends on the entire wrong side of the campus. It doesn't go to Foothills hospital I don't see anything wrong with it. Keep things statues quo I don't see that with just one bus servicing Market Mall every 15 minutes, that there will be enough space to sit on the bus. This is especially true for Christmas time when the 37,43,10, and 122 are all full in my experience going back to Dalhousie station. There will also be longer wait times than that when there are 4 buses servicing it. Only provides service til 11. I don't know - I do not use this route. It replaces the buses I use to reach EEEL at U of C (143 and 137) Same as my comment on route 10. When removing the NW loop from 10, there is no direct replacement from the FFCA High School in Montgomery (2021 Mackay Road NW) to the Dalhousie LRT. This route is close but does not pick it up. why are you asking me about this one when I never use? Does not allow 1 bus from Varsity Village to Nose Hill Library and Winston Churchill pool and gym and return Current service 37/137 does Many seniors live in Varsity and require frequent direct access to these facilities as well as Walmart in northland mall Having to make a connection to another bus to finish my trip home. My only concern is that the bus loop in the university there is not exactly roomy. It may be difficult to add another bus, however the connectivity there might mean it becomes more useful than Brentwood at times. That concerns me as Brentwood is designed to be a bus station, that loop is not in that there is no parking and minimal shelter (I can't drive therefore don't need to park but I often need to sit down and without a shelter there is often no place I can sit). Not using #31 I use 8 only in those proposed routes. We use the #10, #9, #419, and # /18

I think this is a waste of tax payer's money. I don't think the level of ridership warrants this route. not going into Varsity Dr. thus more difficult to reach It goes to the south end of campus. That is not the only entrance into the University. I have looked at the proposed bus routes and they all go down to the south end of Campus. That area is already congested and it does not need to get any worse. Going to the south end of campus is not helpful for many university students, wastes additional travel time on the bus as well as travel time walking back up to the north end of campus where the classes are. There needs to be a bus that runs from Dalhousie Station through Varsity, past Market Mall and to 32nd Ave along the north end of campus. That path is the highest used route that I have seen used, and always has a full bus. I do not understand changing that section of the 37/43, and 143/137. I live on Calandar Rd NW and this does not come close enough to where I live to be effective. No connection between Dalhousie and Bentwood. I don't take this bus, I'm not sure. No comment It would be the only route servicing the Market Mall area and would therefore be the only route those in the area people would be able to make use out of. Not sure about the idea behind this route. I REALLY think it should be extended to the Foothills hospital. My wife works there and it is really difficult for her to get there from Silversprings. I also wonder about all these people who are used to take the bus at the University on 32 Avenue to go to Market Mall. There is always a lot of people on these bus. I wonder how much other choices they will have with the 37 and 43 gone... Route does not come near me and therefore it is not applicable. It is a short route that requires a lot of connections as opposed to direct routes to these locations from other parts of the city. It will increase the need for travel using the train which increases time and inconvenience for those that currently do not need to do this. Useless!! By the time we access the bus after an hour's walk, we might as well walk another 20 minutes to our destination as we would have to wait for the stupid bus anyway!! I am not familiar with Route 31 so cannot comment. tough for Montgomery, Bowness, Point McKay residents 53rd can be very congested in the Varsity area as the road is not two lanes...a lot of stop signs on the way so will create challenges for local traffic...especially there are 3 huge condo complex being built right now so I don't know whether the traffic will be accepted for residents there. Reduced frequency compared to current 37/137 and 43/143 frequency. Does not reach Brentwood or University Ctrain Station. 11/18

to go to Market mall and the U of C you have to transfer at Dalhousie. When right now we can stay on ONE bus to go to both places. if you miss the connection you have to wait another 30 min. they tried this in the past and it did not work Because it misses and takes away stops on 32nd street that a lot of students use to get to market mall and Dalhousie station I do not use this route at all I board the #9 bus at the corner of 40th Ave & 40th Street and ride it to the University. This route does not take me where I need to go. It doesn't go to Foothills Hospital Give it a try and see I tend to prefer getting off at the north side of university at 32nd Avenue because the loop around the hospital takes such a long time. Also, most of my classes are always at the north side of university, getting off at the south side means that I need to walk about 10 minutes to get to my next class, compared to 5 minutes from north side. I would have no use for this plan. There is still very limited ways to get to market mall from more city center areas This route does not effect my commute. Too far doesn't affect me I live north of the Dalhousie LRT. It would be easier to transfer to the train and take that from Dalhousie to campus than to take the 31. The old 37 and 43 routes were nice because I did not have to make a transfer to get to campus. I don't really see a problem with it, but I wouldn't have reason to use it very often -- just when I'm going to the mall. This route does not go to Brentwood along 32 Ave and 408 will not help being the only service from Brentwood along that popular corridor. IT DOESN'T CONNECT TO AN LRT IN THE SOUTH! This makes it less convenient for users and seniors at Lions Park to access Market Mall. With the 37/137 and 43/143 being rerouted I lose those services which took me directly to Brentwood from 49th Street along 32nd Ave which generally took me 5 minutes with connection to the CTrain. Does not effect me. I can't see if there is still a connection from Brentwood area/ Station to Market Mall with this route? Is it offered by another proposed bus line? No comment 12/18

However, this is only convenient for students and people with young children. What about Seniors? They need to be considered too. See above. This is not replacing the 137/37 and 143/43 because those two routes stop on the other side of the campus. The 32 avenue (where a lot of people take the bus to dalhousie or arrive from dalhousie) will jot be covered anymore. This means that the route 31 is not replacing anything. There will be a lack of coverage there. Suggested Improvements: Nice to see route consolidation connect to University of Banff Trail/Lions Park stations Well done Access the West Campus/ACH area via the future Shaganappi intersection Serve both ACH and Foothills Go to Foothills Medical Campus, beyond University? Or swing by Banff Trail on the way to Foothills (East on 24th Ave to Banff Trail service road. West to Foothills & up into west campus to Childrens) transit terminal at Foothills in the future go to Banff Trail Should do a loop to F.H.C. too Tie into Banff Trail or Stadium parking lot Circuitous from Brentwood LRT down 40th Ave. Best to Brentwood LRT Unknown, I'm not a transit planner. Side note - maybe in the future this could be a larger loop. Finish at a train station Could it drop down to the Foothills Hospital Rather than terminate at south campus continue on to the Foothills Medical Centre continue the bus through ranchlands/silver springs to crowfoot It would be better to have it stop closer to the University LRT station. that way there's a direct connection from Market Mayy and Children's Hospital to both Dalhousie and University LRT stations. N/a I believe that the Southern portion of the route should be extended via one of two ways: The route could follow that of the 19 to the Lions Park Station, which would add a direct connection between the station as well as Market Mall, University Heights, the ACH, the University, as well as Varsity. This however, would result in duplication of two routes. Alternatively, the route could extend beyond 24th and turn right onto 23rd St. NW, where the route could make a loop near the Banff Trail station. This would add a bus service to a station with no bus connections while also connecting a neighbourhood with a large University population to the South Entrance. Additionally, a connection like this would add bus service to currently unserved areas such as the Volleydome, the McMahon athletics facilities, and the David Bauer arena. 13/18

It needs to have 40 ft buses Only worried about route 145. This route is not a replacement as it won't get me downtown and isn't near Capri ave. nothing at this time, other than what's been mentioned above Don't ruin the Northwest Loop. Provide service through more of Brentwood and Dalhousie so more bus transfers are not required. Not sure I dont use this route. It would be helpful in this survey to have what is being cut and what is proposed staying to help judge. Need routes from market mall to Brentwood From alberta childrens hospital, take west campus blvd to foothills hospital and then loop back to South UofC. no comment dont explore this idea Decrease frequency. Great addition, but leave the rest of the route as is PLEASE. Fine, so to speak, but if you're just buzzing around the hospitals and MM, why don't you put that route into BW instead of Dalhousie, because it's already down there? To answer my own question, it appears to be the only thing up 53st to go into Dalhousie, so why not put rte122, already branching North, in that direction and into Dalhousie, while keeping the rte31 to the South side and put it into BW? Anybody heading from NW of that picture to University or Hospital will simply get off the train at BW anyway and catch the 72/73, after quickly putting into Dalhousie on the alternative route. Na Why not combine the New 31 with the 19? Ending the route at the U of C loop doesn't make any sense. Reminds me of the failed attempts with routes 450 and 451 both where bus routes between U of C and Foothills Hospital. Ensure that its timing is opposite a bus going to Brentwood, #122, so if I miss one I have a viable alternative. Go to Brentwood Make sure this is a big bus route!!!!!!!! Have this or another route go further along 32nd ave along the N side of UofC Include connections to University LRT station None I would suggest the service span to begin at 5:30am instead of 6 am. I don't take this bus Have it stop at Brentwood. 14/18

It needs to connect both c-train stations. nothing from me have a stop at University station or another C-train station. Also whatever people who use this route more suggest. nothing, this route is useless to me no suggestions Re-route 37/137 and 43/143 to run through Dalton Drive between Coop and the Dalhousie LRT Station Junction (less than 1 km). No comment. Have it continue further on 32 ave. Extend the route to Foothills Medical Centre None. None Either have at least one more bus going from Dalhousie to Market Mall or much more frequent times. Longer service I don't know - I do not use this route. why are you asking me about this one when I never use? continue the route to go by these facilities mentioned above Overall, well designed. Not using #31 I use 8 only in those proposed routes. We use the #10, #9, #419, and #405. The part of the 37/43 and 143/137 that runs from Dalhousie Station through Varsity, past Market Mall and to 32nd Ave along the north end of campus is one of the highest populated routes I have ever seen. That needs to be continued in the route changes. It provides the most direct access to the north end of the University of Calgary campus. Adding extra travel time is not what university students need. They already have some of the lowest number of hours of sleep, and do not need extra stress from inconvenient bus routes. A route needs to run from Dalhousie Station through Varsity, past Market Mall and to 32nd Ave along the north end of the University of Calgary campus, in both directions. Keep route 145 Extend that route to Bentwood! No comment Keep this route, but also have a second route that services Market Mall, the University and Brentwood train Station. Would work better to loop around to Brentwood instead of Dalhousie for shorter, more efficient route. 15/18

Extending the route 31 to the Foothills hospital should really be considered. Also the off peak frequency should be of 20minutes. Again, nothing. I'm not sure. Kill it! I am not familiar with Route 31 so cannot comment. I think it is good for students for sure but not local residents along 53rd st near Varsity, may need public consultation in that area Connect back to Brentwood Station or to University Station. Do not take away stops on 32nd street I do not use this route at all Replace the #9 route along 40th Ave to the Brentwood station and the University. Going to Foothills Hospital I think people will appreciate a direct way to get from Market Mall to Brentwood Station. It doesn't have to be frequent, but it will definitely make the newer shoppers much easier access to the mall, and the frequent travelers less frustrated about how much of a detour that the bus goes in (similar to how people don't like taking 122 because it takes so much detour). I would have no use for this plan. extend to go closer to the south. Nothing doesnt' affect me Extend the route further north to Crowfoot to service the residential communities in that area. Or make the route go to Northland Mall. That way it would be easy to travel between Market Mall and Northland Mall and make it easier for students to get to Northland Mall. None. Keep this service on 32nd Ave to Brentwood then when returning go to University South then West on 24th Ave then to Children's Hospital, back to 32nd to Dalhousie. I strongly recommend connecting this route to the Lions Park LRT station much like the route 19 does. In fact, it may even be best to remove that section of the route 19 and replace it with a route 31 that runs directly to Lions Park. There are more connections to the Lions Park LRT station than at the University, making it a more attractive connection point. It would be a good idea to go to Brentwood along 32nd Ave then return via South University and the Children's Hospital. 16/18

Create a complete system that works extremely well and efficiently. All times sink to each others connections. Think of people working late past 21:00; so they don't stand around waiting for buses that do not come. Movie show times play till 0:00. No comment Buses need to go downtown or in the SW at least. I suggested to find a better solution and cover the university area since it is the busiest point of the city where people use buses more often then any other places in town. From notes on the route maps: (Community Consultation Teams reviewed proposed routes on maps and made these comments directly on the maps.) Serves students - thumbs up possible future west campus routing? More direct connection University LRT station? Connection to University LTR? more direct routing bus does not go through UofC at North side Could be full along 24 Ave Students may continue using train to reach UofC, could go north on 53 St NW More emphasis on connections, could pose challenges in winter Extend to Hospital - eliminates transfers Connection to University LTR Include ACH 311 and Submissions: Caller would like to see the proposed route 31 go to the foothills hospital. Route 31 (Dalhousie - University). The current proposal has this route starting at Dalhousie Station and terminating at UofC. It is recommended that this route be extended from UofC to Foothills Medical Centre. Foothills Medical Centre is a major employment center as well as a major destination for people in the northwest requiring medical care. For people needing medical care, or people visiting patients, they should be able to reach the hospital in a timely and safe manner. The Dalhousie Station area has recently undergone redevelopment (The Groves of Varsity) with several residential towers focusing on retirement condos for seniors. As well, there are higher density residences immediately north and northeast of Dalhousie Station. If Route 31 is not extended to the medical centre, people in the Dalhousie area will have to use LRT and transfer onto a bus route to access the medical center. People coming from Silver Springs on the bus will 17/18

have to make2 transfers, one at Dalhousie Station to access the LRT line and then another to get from the LRT to the medical centre by bus. As you may be aware, making people transfer between routes is a major disincentive for transit use, particularly for seniors who tend to have mobility issues. The easier it is for the public, especially seniors to use transit, the better it is for the public and Calgary Transit to maintain transit ridership. Calgary Transit took away the 31 bus which would take me to places in a few minutes, Say 15 or twenty now it takes me at least one hour to do the same. The map I have seen implies taking away a portion of 419 would cause even more of a hardship. The map shows no service into north west IE Kensington to foothills hospital or even a substitute way of travelling.. 18/18
